My dogs can sing!!!

For anyone having a birthday my dogs would be able to perform. My dogs can sing Happy Birthday, it is the only song they sing and they sing it on command (you have to sing with them). And you have to clap because they like the attention! :P

How cute! :D
It's taken me two days to reply...My Jake used to sing the Happy Birthday song. He could whimper, speak and howl on command, but only in that order! lol Once you've gone to speak, whimper was out! Same was true for howl... any further vocalization command resluted in a howl. lol

Grannie Annie, Placement Director for NEOESR (She has probably handled over 1,000 dogs personally over the years), when told of his vocalization skills was fairly amazed - she thought that was very uncommon in sheepdogs. So far, I think that you're the only other one of which I've heard!

Joan and I have always called people on their birthday to sing the Happy Birthday song, and the first time we did that after we got Jake back in '92 is when we discovered his talent to sing that song only.

You could speak the words to that song... nothing. You could hum the tune to that song... nothing. Put the two together and he'd howl away!

Thanks for bringing those memories to the front of my mind again.

Well I thought I'd try it to see whether Barney had any operatic talent. I sang Happy Birthday and he attacked me. Maybe he's trying to tell me something! :D
I tried humming it and just speaking it, they looked at me and did nothing to, I just had to try it after you said that.
I'd love to hear that! Maybe you could get it on video :D
Roger can't sing but yesterday when I came home no one was there but Roger. When he was greeting me he barked a couple of barks I replied with a couple of barks next thing you know he is howling, I've never heard him do this before it was funny, I tried to get him to do it for the family later, he looked at me like I was crazy, guess who was howling alone.
Lucy does the same thing. If I match back what she does, she always tries to beat me by talking or howling louder. Or if I just keep talking to her while she's all riled up, she just keeps talking back-- and I say talking because it's not barking, it's a weird noise that I couldn't duplicate in typing. Once she gets excited like that, she'll "talk" all night-- lots of fun while trying to watch TV!
Hi,

Oh I love it!! Talented dog you have!!
