I'm bored...Summer

NOT WHAT YOU THINK.

I'm not bored with summer..no no no.

I'm bored with inactivity.

Sooooo

Now that we've all had a great taste of summer after the winter from hell...what are some things that you don't like about summer.

I'll start.

BUGS, bee's that won't get out of your face, hornets or wasps that buzz around your head, knats, and SKEETERS(we have tons after our rains in June).

Back to school sales in the middle of July.

High dew points.

I don't like that it is so short :)
H O T

It has been unbelievably hot in OKC for the last few weeks. And so humid.

So, I left. We went to Ruidoso, NM last weekend for a family reunion. It was so nice and cool...but then it rained and rained, and we got trapped on the mountain when the flood washed out the roads. So the short cool-down was not exactly worth it...three people died in the flood. Then we headed to Las Cruces, NM where we are this week and I'm here to tell you that whole "but it's a dry heat" thing is just B.S. Hot is hot and it is definitely hot in the desert. But at least it cools off in the night and mornings - it doesn't do that in OK right now!

I hate the heat.

Oh, for pete's sake! Whining about SUMMER! Need I remind you???

OK, the sheepdogs look pretty happy, but the photographer - moi - was pretty cold and cranky.

Summer is not my favorite time, but I'll take it over a blizzard any day. Besides, it leads to my favorite time: autumn!!

BTW, Pam, I just found out that an incredibly talented groomer whose main breed is OES has opened shop in Mukwanogo (WI) (she also boards dogs - her mom does the same in Neenah, WI, in case anyone is looking for a good OES groomer in that area) I ran into Lisa at a show yesterday not realizing she had move back to WI; need to get the contact info - I don't have it handy - and then I'll post it in the grooming section.

I think that looks delightful. :P
Kristine, I'm not whining...I'm BORED.

I love summer, if it were up to just me we would move somewhere warmer.

Saturday I go back to work and will look at this time as...well, not so boring. :o
I hate the heat.

I loved the weather in Albuquerque. Dry heat, when it rained the ground was dry in 30 minutes becuase it just evaporated. We had swamp coolers and the electric bill & water bill were so cheap!

I hate the fact that I go back to work in 3 weeks.
I am with everyone who hates the heat. We live outside of Albuquerque in the mountains but it still can get up to 90 and we don't have air conditioning. I will take snow any day of the week. :) The first couple of weeks of July it would rain and cool things down but alas the monsoons seem to be over. Ruidoso is a real mess right now. We luckily, haven't had the rain they got. I am counting the days til I can get my winter clothes out.
I love summer in the mountains...60-80, sunny days, low humidity, lots of fireflys in the evenings, beautiful flowers everywhere, and crystal clear streams...as beautiful as fall is here, I love the warmer days of summer! I love that it's not winter...dark mornings and evenings, COLD all the time, being snowed in for days, crazy drivers, winter seems to go on forever.....
I'll tell you what I hate...

that next year we will be in TX for the summer.

Alaska is having their coldest summer on record. The high's are 61 ...if it reaches that. It's been SO BEAUTIFUL. For us, that's perfect picnic weather. No humidity, no wind... just beautiful scenery.

bTW, we had snow the other day on the mountains!!!

I'd do anything to have Alaska weather in TX ...but since I can't be God, I'll just stay inside next year.
Global Cooling is upon us.

September '05: Global Warming - Whether it is caused by humans or not, is it Good or Bad?
Mr. J always makes global warming comments (he doesn't buy it the way most do).

hmmm....an OES groomer in Neenah - I'm pretty sure that's the breeder that I got my Dublin Mae from!
I would like to exchange homes with anyone for the month of August. Already with the heat index we are up in the 120s degree heat. And we have that hot, humid heat here. I would love to get away to somewhere where it is 50 to 60 degrees at night. If I go out to pull weeds in the garden I have to do so around 8-9 at night. And I am tired of a $400 - $500 electric bill each month. Ok I will quit venting now.

Expect so. Jane was showing in SE Wisconsin. I haven't been out for a while, so hadn't seen her for some time. Nice to catch up a little.

FLIES

That's what I hate about summer. FLIES.

Flies SUCK
What I hate about summer:

Spending hours upon hours of time planting and landscaping to make things pretty, and then never having time to just sit on the porch and enjoy it!!!! :x

On the FLIP side-- I love

Fresh vegatables right from the garden
Watermelon and cantalope
Flip Flops
Shorts
Catching Lightening Bugs with my little nieces

For some reason my (83 year old) Dad kept telling me in front of my wife that watermelon has the same effect on men as Viagra. Kept repeating it, over and over.

After I had the watermelon, in my mind I just kept hearing him saying it over and over, it kept me up all night just thinking about it.

HUMMM.... Maybe I'll save some watermelon for John next time... 8)
I can't think of a single thing I don't like about summer. 8) Even the bugs are worth putting up with to enjoy everything else that comes with SUMMER. 8)

I love the long days, the warmth of the sun on my face, summer clothes and sandals, the healthy glow of a tan, cookouts with family & friends, slicing up a watermelon after a long hot day of yard work, splashing in the water sprinklers with the kids, washing the car and getting into water fights with the hose, sitting on the front porch in the evenings enjoying a glass of wine and discussing the events of the day, playing Frisbee with the wigglebums, riding the horses, fresh garden veggies, tomato sandwiches!! I could go on and on...summer is wonderful and over far too soon. 8)
My ac hasn't shut off in months.......but its not true ac. We have geothermal units in this housing, which means it forces the air underground under the house to be cooled. Not good when its too hot and there's been no rain. The coolest my house has been lately is about 75..with multiple fans and ceiling fans. But at least mine is only a one story, the two stories are much worse! I feel even worse for my hubby. He's in Baghdad, and lives in a concrete building this time (was a trailer type thing last time with a swamp cooler) but no ac.....and its like 120 and higher over there right now. He has a fan, thats it! But I'd rather be warmer than freezing my a$$ off, lol. Alaska about killed me, at least til summer time, when it was nearly 100 with no ac. We'd go to walmart and walk around just for the ac, lol. It was so hot on our sons birthday in 2004 that he got sick, so we went to walmart, grabbed a buggy, laid him down in it (he fell asleep on the way there, ac in the car you know) and walked around for about three hours, didn't even spend a dime, lol. Oh the memories.........

Me too! I'm dying to get out of here and move somewhere where it's warm all the time. I like heat so much more than cold. And, I'd happily take high electric bills for A/C in the summer because we make it up in gas bills in the winter anyway. It all evens out!

Heck Tammy, where you live it's like summer almost all the time anyway!
