She's not a puppy and she's not an OES

I went to the shelter to see if the puppy that I found had been adopted yet. She had been. So we walked around a while and Hayley stopped in front of one of the kennels. She refused to move. She bent down and was petting this cute little dog. I stopped and went back to Hayley.
She was all excited saying "Doggie"
I bent down and the dog gave me a kiss.
The card at the kennel said she was 8 yrs old, but they don't think she is that old. I was totally fine with adopting an older dog.
She is a Chihuahua and her name is Chili. I don't think I am going to keep the name.
So far so good with Rags. She has only tried to play and herd.

Ryan is going to go CRAZY!! He's been wishing for a Chihuahua.

I'll post a picture soon.

I'll have to get some more shots of her once she's more comfortable.
That's so cool. Our min pin Dino is my son's dog, we got him for Travis when he was 12 yrs old. Now Travis is 19, and Dino is still his favorite, and Travis is Dino's favorite. It was a perfect match then, and still is today! :D
AWWWW hayley size doggie to play with.
so, she's really yours? how cute!
Yes, she's ours. Within 5 minutes of Billy meeting her, he picked her up and said "Hi, I'm Daddy" Awwww! And I thought he would freak out.
She likes him a lot.
Rags makes me a bit nervous pouncing all around wanting to play.
She thinks she's the same size as Chili.
Billy wants to keep Chili's name as Chili. He thinks it's cute.
She joined us all in the pool earlier:)
She was most comfortable in Daddy's arms. When she got out it looked like she was about to jump in. She really seems to like the water. 8)
Ryan was shocked when he arrived home. He asked where the dog came from and I told him. Then he said is she a Chihuahua. I said Yes. He said COOL!
She kinda reminds me of peanut . . . it is a funny combo but I am glad you all are happy!
She's getting along really well with the Sheepies.
But she's not ready to play with them yet.
She's cute... she looks so delicate, and her face reminds me of Peanut too LOL
Well her face looks all Chihuahua but she is actually a mix.
Most likely with a Jack Russell. She's too tall to be all Chihuahua (approx 9 inches at the withers) and she has Jack Russell ears. She is also around 6 lbs and underweight. You can see her spine and ribs. :(
She had a good night. She slept in the living room, even though she was invited into the bedroom. When I got up this morning she was curled up in a little tiny ball on the couch.
Pepsi wants to play with her, but she is still unsure. I don't blame her at all. When the Sheepies play they run around like it's a stampede.
She did manage to get out of their way though.

Of course Hayley adores her and she seems to feel the same way about Hayley. As soon as Hayley woke up she was looking for "doggie".
My friend has a mixed Chihuahua/Pomeranean and he is so adorable. The little ones are so cute the way the can jump around with virtually no weight to them like they are little dog fairies. I used to be a 'big dog' only person until I met him. Good luck with meshing all your dogs together. And very sweet of you to adopt...
Congrats - you're a new mom again! She looks like a very sweet dog.
Thanks guys, She is a real sweetie an she just adores the kids.
Here are some more pics

I actually think she looks more like a chi/ dachshund mix or a chi/ min pin mix... Her nose is longer than a chi....

Here is a pic of a min pin who shares her ear set and nose I think

Stacey,
She is too tall to be Doxie and the pictures of the mixes I have seen also have longer ears and longer snouts. All the Chi/Mini Pin mixes all had ears that stood up. After viewing tons of pics I narrowed it down to Jack Russell or Rat Terrier. I found a picture that looked just like her it was a Jack/Chi

Here is the link
http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/jackchi.htm

After looking at the picture you posted Mini Pin could be a possibility.
I'll just call her a Chi-Terr.
Mini Pinschers, Jacks, and Rats are all Terriers so that would fit.
Those are definitely terrier ears. :D
As far as I know min pin ears are cropped and taped.
Here's another, almost the same color as her too

But Elissa, I think she needs a new collar in a big way. :?

She looks like a convict with her number around her neck

I am so glad you sprung her. Having had a small dog already you can totally understand her needs.

Yaaah for you!
Nicole,
I got her a new collar last night, after the pictures were taken. :D
She has a little gold colored heart tag with her name and phone # on it and she also has her microchip tag.
I tried to get better pics of her last night but she was sleeping and enjoying the nice soft couch. She was curled up so tight and there was a little smile on her face. :)

Stacey,
That dog in the picture does have her body structure.
Well, either way, she is just adorable.... and she can jump on the couch to cuddle with you without knocking the wind out of you!
About the min pins - we have 2, both from breeders who show.

Dino has the upright ears, and had them cropped because we were going to show him until he went an inch over standard.

Tazz has ears just like your new dog, Elissa. He never had them cropped because his litter was sold as pet quality d/t a genetic problem (metabolic disease that the stud had, not disclosed to people who bred to him until his pups all started having problems!)
I'll try and dig up a picture of Tazz to post.

I'm glad she got a new collar - I was thinking the same - that it looked like mug shots!

Dawn
I downloaded my pics - just waiting approval. Hopefully they appear under my camera icon soon!

I worked last night, so I'm going to bed soon  - I'll check back later!

Thanks Stacey :) Also no real grooming required. 8)
Her hair is too short for a comb. Low maintenence 8)

Last night Chili slept on the bed with us. This morning she came up to my face and started licking me then as soon as I gave her attention she rolled onto her back for belly rubs.
Also she went out with the Sheepies last night to the backyard and was running around. This is the first time we saw her run. The Sheepies felt it necessary to herd. lol Especially when she went into a dark spot in the yard. They kept trying to herd her back to the door. She seemed to be looking at them like they were crazy, but eventually realized what they wanted an followed them.

Dawn, I can't wait to see the pictures!
Here's some pictures (I hope!)

This 1st one is a picture of my granddaughter Breanna with Tazz. He is her favorite of our dogs. She has loved him since she was a baby and he has always loved her!

This 2nd picture is about 6 years old - the kids are 19 and 22 now!
Neither one gives a great closeup of Tazz, but I think you can sort of see him.

It sounds like Chili is fitting in well. Do you know any history on her?
Dawn,
I think you and Stacey have convinced me that she is part Min Pin.
Your dogs are cute!!!
Chili had been in the shelter since Aug 25th. She was picked up as a stray. She had a tag and collar on. The info on the tag was no longer valid and they were unable to find her owners. She is thin so they think she had been wandering around for a while.
Great pics and a good job posting them! :D
Good luck with your Peanut look-alike!
All that resembles Peanut is the round eyes and red nose. :P

She is nothing like him. She only barks if someone comes through the front door. Peanut loved to bark to hear himself bark. :twitch:
Then there was Peanut's attitude with the Sheepies. He would attack them for no reason. Also no stuck up Poodle Attitude with Chili. She knows the BIG DOGS rule this house and she does not mess with them. She's cool with it!
She doesn't challenge them and is very submissive...which was one HUGE quality was knew was needed if we brought another dog into the house.
She likes the Sheepies...though is a bit leary of them. Especially since Rags stepped on her twice.
When they go outside together if the Sheepies run to a certain part of the yard she runs along to see whats up. :)
Congrat's on the new dog, I too think it has min pin in there. She is cute, one of those ugly cutes, that you just fall in love with.

I like the name Chili, keeps with the mexican theme of chihuhua.
I can't believe that after all that you got Peanut back and shaved him down! (Figured I'd keep up the theme! :P )

I like the name Chili because it's a noun and a verb. I'm sure that at some point you're going to have to get her a little sweater because she's preactically naked and sure to be cold.
No matter what her breed background, she's utterly adorable and snuggly! :hearts: Congratulations!
Thanks Chris and Bev! She is a little love bug 8)
As for her name. We do like it and are keeping it. I keep calling her Chili Dog

Thanks Mandy for going with the whole Peanut thing
I was at Petco the other day and they had dog clothes on sale. I bought her a cute little T-shirt. I also have some clothes that belonged to Scooter, my first toy poodle. I have a sweatsuit and I think it will fit her. She seems to be around the same size he was. Of course I won't be able to use most of the clothes since they are for a boy, but the sweatsuit will work and I think I might still have some of his t-shirts. I know I have a Giant's T-shirt, but I think it's too small. I'll just have to buy her a Mets t-shirt and a new Giants shirt. I am going to wait on buying anything until she fills out a bit. She is so thin.
Elissa, you are too funny. Is this is for animals for a while or are there to be more in your future!

I thought that Chili looked like peanut too! Love the name, very cute!

I'm glad that everyone loves her and that she loves everyone! :D
Maybe you should name her Cashew or Macadamia and you can really keep with the small dog nut theme. tee hee hee.

Well Chili's still a food.
CONGRATS
Steph, Yes this is it on animals..... at least for a while.

Jill, I think a nut name would make her NUTS! 8O

Thanks Alissa :)
Target has dog clothes and just like the people clothes they put the "last season" looks on sale and they are extremely cheap.
She's adorable!
Thanks for the advice Mandy. I'll have to take a trip to Target. :D

Thanks Gail :)
E! Congrats on your newest canine family member! She sure is a cutie pie! Glad to hear she is fitting in so well with the sheepies. Give her a cuddle for me!
Thanks Karen :)
Congrats
She's cute :hearts:
Thanks Tove :D
