Growing OES for the Show Ring

Besides careful, frequent grooming and conditioning of the OES coat for growing coat. Has a knob. Which is said to accelerate hair growth for show dogs? Does any one use any supplements besides a good quality diet?

Welcome to the forum :)

As far as growing coat for show... you want to make sure the dog is mat free, and you don't want to condition it at all if possible as they should have a harsh texture to their coat, not soft. As puppies it will be soft of course, but the adult coat should have a harsher texture.

"Has a knob" I am guessing you mean the "Hair On A Doorknob" recipe?
I've heard it helps grow coat, but I'm not sure it works. I've been told by experienced breeders that a good dog that is healthy and fed a high quality food will grow coat as it's meant to and no supplement will really help that. If a supplement makes a dog healthier, then I would guess the food it was on wasn't nutritionally complete to begin with.
Yes I use 3 times a week over there food "Cold Pressed Virgin Flaxseed Oil". Helps the skin and coat. I feed a top of the range dry food but still add that 1tsp 3 times a week. I also add Kelp Powder twice a week, human grade from a health food shop, not the pet grade. 1/2 tsp. The iodine in it helps the piturity gland.

Raw egg yolk (not the whites) once a week too for the "Biotin" in it, as that is not in a lot of foods.
Hi...does anyone know how long will the hair grow from a puppy coat to an adult coat (long hair). THank you.
You are looking at a fully mature sheepie coat wise at around 3 to 4 years old.

They go through a few changes, puppy to a junior coat (Light Grey) from about 6 months onwards, you start to see a lighter grey coming in across the shoulders and usually up the back of the legs.

Around 2 ish you have another coat change to a mature coat, same process, you see a darker grey happening across the shoulders and again starting to imerge up the back of the legs.

All the stages take a while for the coat to clear, some are earlier in the stages, some are later. By 4 years old it is then usually all through the last change with a full mature coat.

Length well that depends on weather you clip off or not. Usually when they go through the coat stages of change, it is a very knotty/matty time. :?
Thank you very much....I guess i have to wait that long
Are you talking actual coat changes or how long it takes for the hair to just grow? The hair itself with grow about an inch a month so you can have almost a foot of hair in about a year.
