I went to a dog show today......

......and there weren't any sheepdogs  ! I had been to this dog show a couple of years ago and there had to have been about six I think, but not one today or any all weekend! I was so looking forward to seeing them. Oh well - I did see a Puli puppy which was really cute and then I saw a Briard that I fell in love with! He was reddish in color with cropped ears and pretty big for being a puppy. I called my husband right away and told him I had found our next dog (Cooper needs a brother or sister) - he didn't sound too convinced on the phone but when I arrived home guess who was looking them up on the internet  . We are going back tomorrow so he can see them and I'm sure I will have him convinced that we need one and will probably give them our name and number  .

I have a friend who has briards. They are beautiful dogs, but require a LOT of training. They are very strong willed and need a owner who isn't afraid to be a dominant leader. They grow up into a big, strong driven dog, with lots of hair!
Briards are beautiful dogs. Lucy's part Briard and she inherited the high strung part of the breed. Easygoing is not a word I would ever use to describe her, especially now that she's gotten older! She sheds immensely but that may be part of whatever her other half is too. Like I said, I love her to death and I wouldn't trade her for anything but her and Clyde are like night and day. But one nice thing, when you get a puppy, the puppy will probably pick up Cooper's traits anyway! Bear's a huge doofus because of Clyde.
I'm soooo sorry - that's such a bummer. Does anyone have any good Canadian dog-show websites?

If you ever want to know a show schedule in the US there are two big sites that list most of them:

http://www.infodog.com/ and http://www.onofrio.com/index2.html

I prefer the first one!

At least you got to see some beautiful dogs. It's such an intriguing world!
I'm sorry you didn't see any sheepies! That would be disappointing, indeed.

I love Briards!! I always hear they shed a lot too (despite being a non-shedding/low-shedding breed). When I was looking for a breeder, a lot of their websites mentioned it as well. I don't care though... my heart melts every time we're around them!!!
