Do you tend to gain weight in the winter time?

I love being able to wear a coat and using it as an excuse to eat more. No one can see my handles hanging over my belly. 8)

Then again, I like wearing light clothing so I am reminded no to pig out. :cow:

(just trying to wake this section up. seems to be dead, but i love this forum)

I tend to lose weight in the winter, or stay the same, I think. Even though there are coats and sweaters to wear, I like wearing fitted ones, which often show curves more than a tshirt does.
My goal is to be at the gym every morning once the kids start school, the dog park next...or vice versa...and be in a better shape for the surgery and hopefully pregnancy.

This winter is not gonna keep me down.
I just can't seem to lose weight no matter what I do. My weight fluctuates a great deal every day, without me doing anything at all. Drives me nuts.
I'm at a basically normal range weight for my height, according to the doc and charts, but it's not normal for me 8O So I definitely want to get back into better shape. I'd really like to tone up and lose 20 lbs by xmas, so then I can really pig out. LOL
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But last year I had a plan :go:

I took dance class once a week . But in addition I bought the
QFS by Gilad. It has both strength and cardio exercise dvds.
And it comes with a brochure called Eat Right system.
Did the exercise tapes daily. And followed the diet suggestions.

Just went for a physical and I am 13 pounds lighter than last year. :cheer:

Now I just discovered Ellie Kriegers book-Small Changes, Big Results.
Excellent-so its added to my plan for this year. Good recipes too!
zahr, that's so inspirational!!!!

I like being a little lighter during Christmas too so I don't feel guilty indulging. I can avoid the sweets, but I CAN'T avoid the casserole dishes. I LOVE them too much!!! I ate an ENTIRE 9X13 casserole last Christmas. His mom made it for me because it was my favorite and I had just gotten over a cold (was eating, so I was making up for it). Mr. J always jokes that my stomach makes room for the food ...there's no "getting full" in my book. :(
I tend to lose weight since it's actually cool enough to get outside and enjoy it! lol
I tend to gain weight everytime I breathe. Doesn't matter what time of the year it is.

I'm right there with you!!

Moving to AZ actually reversed the seasonal effect for me. It's too darn hot to exercise in the summer! And I don't even want to go to the gym because the car will be 120 degrees when I get done. I'm looking forward to cooler weather so I can exercise outside more!
I actually am at my best weight in February...when I am wearing pants and sweaters! 8O
I don't think I gain more in the winter. I gain if I don't follow Weight Watchers. I think I eat healthier in the winter since I hate the heat and don't want to cook in the summer. Hence I tend to eat buttered popcorn and a candy bar for dinner when it's hot!
We have just been through winter 8O

Now the diet starts
I tend to stay the same

yeah, that's so weird to know someone has a winter when we have a summer. How are your winters? Snow? Some places in AK are hitting 26 at night time, so it's coming here!! Our highs are still in the 50s though.

LOL...it was in the 50s here this morning, and I sent Jake to school in a jacket! :) It's 66 now and I'm still freezing...
It froze here last night -just a light one though. The furnace has cycled a few times. I have it set on 63 (it's in our bedroom). We have the little woodstove going in the main part of the house- I even had to open a window! It's sunny and 59 here - a beautiful fall day. In fact, I'm going to go outside and enjoy it (while picking up dog poop!)
