Do their brains shut off?

My husband says whenever it's time for her to eat, the cat runs across the room, or there's someone at the door ...Yuki's brain shuts off.

Anyone else know what I mean? We try to train her to calm down or do something during these moments of insanity, but you can't get through to her whether she's locked up, on a leash, or being held down.

If it's morning time or 3-4p.m. (dinner time), ....she could have a bulldozer coming her way and she wouldn't move from her spot (waiting outside of kitchen). Wouldn't even move if you sat on her. She just waits patiently to get fed and if you don't feed her... she begins to give you the "dreamy" or "begging" eyes. She's sat in the same spot until 6pm before because I had some things to take care of first.

We're always afraid that THIS is when lil J will be trampled on. She's careful around the baby, but if something triggers her (cat runs by her)... it's REACT instead of THINK/REACT. J was ran over for the first time last week because someone rang the doorbell. Lil J just laughed because he thought they were playing, but we try to be prepared now when we know something is about to happen.

Ahhhh.. to be a dog and life be so simple.

I know what you mean.

Blue's brain shuts off whenever someone comes to visit. he just goes bananas. It usually takes about 10 minutes for him to calm down, and that's a vast improvement over a few months ago, when he'd be crazy for about half an hour.

Belle's brain shuts off whenever food is involved. She'll do commands (sit, down, shake), but she's so frantic about it. And she'll start crying when she thinks it's dinner time. She was very underweight when we got her, though, so I'm sure that has something to do with it. She's gotten a little better about dinner time. At least she doesn't try to eat Blue's food anymore.
Is this what Cesar refers to when he says their brains are "locked" ? :?
Ava's brain shuts off when anyone comes over too - it's a total jump fest - I'm fairly certain most of Darren's friends will never be able to have children thanks to Ava and her special "hello"

It takes her about 10 minutes to settle down - but she is getting better
I swear that if my dog's brains were running on windows, we'll be getting a lot of blue screens. LOL

Lennon and Sofa can go from brain dead, sleeping in their couches to totally wacko if I open the door and let them out to run in the park. They run like they've never been out in their lives, jump and bark like crazy for 10 minutes until they calm down (or get exhausted) and go back to their usual sheepiness.

I've tried to change that, but I gave up and resignated... These guys are crazy, but I love them anyways.
