Hello all, fairly new here ,but have been reading your forum alot, these past months, lots of good info here thanks ,this is our first OES. We love him to death...We feel we are starting over with a child .Our Baby left for college last year and our golden retriever of 12 years pasted away. So in came JAKE to our lives....Anyway one question, he has a nose that is part black and part skin color , this summer we have had to use sunblock ..in all the pics on your site we have seen none of this ...is this common??...we love him the way he is ...just curious...Thanks :?:

Welcome to the forum :)

How old is Jake? It's possible his nose pigment just hasn't fully come in yet. Another possibility is he may have scratched it, if you use plastic food and water bowls it's possible he's constantly scrubbing his nose on it. It could also be a fungal infection nicknamed "snow nose".
sorry i should have been more specific, He is 6 months old and had this since birth. Vet said it is a "BIRTH MARK" SORT TO SPEAK...no disease or anything and he doesnt bother it by scratching or anything. Its pimented ..just have not seen any pics of this
They're all born with pink noses and turn black over time (in patches). It sounds like his just hasn't finished changing yet. Do you have a pic we could see? Maybe I'm not understanding what you're saying :)
Iwill try to send a pic..new to this stuff,so not to sure how to do this yet , thou i researched some more of your forum and found this subject, and once again you are all so full of info, thanks ...looks like it can take up to a year or so to fill in wow...thanks , thou we dont mind it being different, he fits right in with our family!!
OH, i also figured out how to log on..thanks now i just need to learn how to post pics....me and my husband sure enjoy this sight it has been so helpful.....Owning an OES,is quite an experience.
Yes, it's very common not only to have some (or a lot of) pink on the nose but also to have missing or incomplete "eyeliner" that will eventually fill in.
When we got Mulligan at almost 2 years old, he still hadn't filled din completely, and there's still some pink inside the nose and his eyeliner isn't complete (and may never be).

I went for a quick look through the first half of the puppies section of the photo gallery, and here are some pink snouts I saw ;)

Thank you those pics are adorable!!.....These past 3 and half months have been quite memorable....What a breed, Our Jake is so smart and learns quick but is very stubborn also and like a toddler is always testing us. thou he is the hit at the dog park.thanks again
Our baby Chewie is filled in on his nose, but has an irregular border around the edges. He is just getting a bit of eyeliner on one lid. He's about 4 1/2 months.
