Okay, so we got our granite and sink installed! So happy! Here is a 'before' picture...

And here's what it looks like now (still not done--need backsplash)

Here's a closeup of the granite
It's beautiful, Steph! ClappingPurple Love the faucet too!
OOOHHHH, pretty! I am so jealous.

My DH doesn't see any reason to redo a perfectly functioning, yet out of date, kitchen Evil or Very Mad
I love that granite. Very nice.
OHHHHHHHH!!!! Laughing Very nice!!!
Very pretty!
This looks great, Steph!! I'm with Chris - I love the faucet, too.
I love it! Wish that was ours! Beautiful!
Looks fantastic!!! Have you decided on the splash yet?????
Wowweee! Great look! Love the wiggle bum in the middle....that's normal around here...right behind your shins!

Can't wait to see the "end" results!
Looks wonderful!
Verrrrry nice!
Very nice, you are giving me great ideas Wink Still have not looked at counter tops yet, now must go and do something. Very Happy
Love it!
It looks really nice!
Really nice.
You know when you start one project it leads to another!!!
Thanks everyone! I was really nervous about this granite because it wasn't my original choice but the granite people said it would be a better choice if for resale. But I really love it and I think I like it better than the other choice anyways.

Darcy...for the backsplash we're going to do, on the diagonal, near-white tumbled stone squares and every so often there are the tumbled stone squares that have a fluer de lis-type image in them, so we'll place those throughout.

Next question...how high should we go with the backsplash. I was thinking all the way to the bottom of the upper cabinets...
Steph, if youre doing a deco tile too, the best way to set that off is to do it all the way up...that way they really stand out.
And around the sides of the window....?
usually the height from the ct to the bottom of the upper is 18''...go all the way there, butt up to the sides of the window and all the way under.....
I love it. Looks great. After we are done painting Mike's house, I'm going to work on him about the coutertops. I love them. The faucets you picked are great!!
I was asking because it looks like they have a sliver of wall color next to the window molsing along the sides of the window. Perhaps either paint that cabinet color or continue the tile up to the height of the wall cabs?
Yeah, Ron, there is a sliver of wall between the window and the cabinets. It was a pain to paint and not get paint on everything else (I know I've mentioned I'm a horrible painter Rolling Eyes )

I was kind of thinking, though, that putting the backsplash up to the cabinets might be too much? What about going until just under the wall sockets (that also avoids us having to try and make those look nice, too!). That would put the backsplash at about 3/4ish of the way to the bottom of the cabinets. Bad idea?
if it is only 3/4 to the top and you dont finish...it looks like you a. didnt want to cut tile..or b. you ran out of grout...
Gorgeous. I love the sink and new faucet too. Doesn't it feel great when you get something brand new and fresh?
Glad someone else noticed the sink and faucet!

I vote for carrying the tile or whatever up to the cabinet........if you were weathly, granite to cabinet Wink That way under cabinet lighting reflects off the reflective tile or granite and cooks cool.
