worming and puppies

How often should you worm puppies? I have heard as often as every two weeks because they get into so much stuff, even their own poop, and reinfest themselves. It sure is yucky when that stuff comes out! 8O

I seem to remember it being every couple weeks for the first few months as well.
I've always found it works best to deworm at 3 weeks old, then ten days later, then again at 6 weeks old and ten days later.
Then when they go to the vet at 8 weeks to have their first vaccines and a check up have stool samples checked to see if it needs to be done again.
It's important to do at least 2 dewormings ten days apart because the first dose gets adult worms, but not eggs, and if you wait longer than ten days the eggs will have had enough time to hatch, mature and reproduce.
