Wheaten Terriers

Do their coats change much from puppy to adult? We saw one yesterday at Petco and fell in love. As a puppy, it looked like a larger version of a shaggy havanese. Softest fluffy coat ever. Or even an OES puppy ...minus the coloring.

I always imagined them to have a coarser coat. At least the ones I met a long time ago, but I could just be remembering wrong.

Nope, they lighten up but not too much. Thats my next dog.
I hear them talked about on here a lot.

I don't like dogs with coarse feeling hair (like a jack russell), so I was surprised that they weren't what I thought.

I change my mind almost monthly to the type of dog I want. They're all the same "Type" of dogs though. Husband will never want anything other than an OES :P

A Wheaten's coat texture does not really change from puppy to adult, just a little thicker. Though the color change is drastic, from dark brown with a black beard as a puppy to the light "wheat" color with a black beard as adults.
They are adorable!

that outline of Jasper in your avatar looks like a wheaten to me.
I saw a Wheaton a few months back with an OES hairdo. Long hair!
I had never seen one with it's coat that length.
It was very cute! Looked like a small beige OES.

Wheaton's are so cute. There's a wheaton rescue and they have quite a community like us Sheepie people. If you search for their site there's a ton of info about Wheatons. I remember reading though that they don't put two that are the same sex together for whatever reason they don't get along, that's something important to know. If I understood correctly.
These are the cutest things, they look like mini-sheepies.

I'm going to get one of those one of these days when Danita's not looking.
