Looking at a puppy this week!

As many of you know, we are OES-less now. We checked out the rescue dogs in the area, but none were a match. When my daughter and I were at the Waukesha show (my basset finished his Rally Novice title there!) we met 2 ladies who were entered in the same class - and both with OES's. After introducing ourselves, and talking a bit, one has 3 pups from a litter still available. By the way, their 2 sheepies placed 2nd and 4th in the class on Saturday and are relatives of the pups - definitely the kind of dog we are looking for!

I explained that we weren't real interested in the breed ring, but were more focused on obedience, Rally, herding, therapy dog work and possibly agility. Their dogs do it all, so I think we made a good match. We didn't have time to go to see the pups, but have been exchanging emails, phone calls, pedigrees and pictures of the dogs and pups.

The breeder of the litter used to live in MN - we met her briefly when we went to an OES function when we got Ollie 9 yrs ago. Imagine my surprise when I learned she has since moved to WI and this is one of her litters! Another coincidence - we are heading over to WI within 40 miles of the puppies for our Basset rescue's big yearly event - leaving on Wednesday. We have a meeting set up for when we are there, and are hopefully bringing home the puppy that has been selected by the breeder as the best match for what we want!! We are so excited!!

That's very exciting!!! :D

It's wonderful that you met this breeder and that she already has selected a pup that will suit your family best. I hope it works out for you! Can't wait to see pictures!
I have a GREAT picture of the whole litter (8 pups) sitting in a row on a couch. The friend who took it is a professional photographer, so I can't post it on the web :( . They are so adorable - of course! It is such a good pic -it should be on a calendar. I have an 8x10 of it and I look at it all the time, and show it off to all my work and dog friends! The work friends say "you have how many dogs?!" and the dog friends are excited. The herding people are glad, because they want to come out and work their dogs with our sheep - knowing we will have a pup that we will be working with. A couple of the pups have already gone to their new homes on the east coast, and 3 are being kept by the breeder and the owner of the mom. My daughter who will be training and showing him is just beside herself! She can't wait for it to be a week from now - we come home next Monday.
That is exciting! Good luck!
OMG! How can you stand to wait? I'd be jumping outta my skin!!!

Good luck!!!
Good luck!!!! Hope everything works out for you. When your baby gets older, and needs to run off some of that puppy energy, feel free to let me know... Pip is always up for play dates!!!
How exciting! I hope everything works out!
I've got my fingers crossed for you! :D
Just wonderful, so exciting and best wishes to you all :D
OH MY GOSH!!! I am thrilled for you. It looks like it is just the right timing!! Can you ask your friend if he can post BIG "no copyright" prints over the pic so we can still see the idea?!! :plead:
Sounds wonderful!! I'm very happy & excited for you!! Can't wait to see pictures of the new addition. :D
Good luck! :)

I hope we'll get to see lots of pics :)
got sheep: I saw in your post in Crate Training that your new puppy has already started crate training. That's excellent - it will make the transition to crate training at your home much easier. So exciting!
How exciting!
Welcome our new baby - Masquerade Alice Acres Madness, aka "Chewie" .

We made it home late last night. We visited the breeder on Friday evening and loved him! We picked him up yesterday (Sunday) afternoon and left the Milwaukee area at 5pm, got home a bit after midnight. He rode great - mostly slept, no accidents! Yay!

His Dad is Ch Shaggy Bear's Skywalker - call name Luke, so we named him after Chewbacca. I did a search and it came up "Chewbacca: the Wookiee fur covered warrior, know for strength and loyalty". That sounds good, especially with my sci-fi loving family members! Mom is "Maddie", Ch Masquerade Mad Money. Maddie is an absolute sweetie! She is doing obedience and agility work now.

Chewie is getting know the other dogs, sniffing around in the yard, met Teddy the pony, and already waded in the fish pond! I will be getting pictures and will attempt to get them posted soon!! He's sooo cute!!!
Congratulations! That's wonderful! Welcome Chewie!

Congratulations!

I'm in So. MN, too. SE, actually, right on the Mississippi.
Congrats on your new baby :D
We definitely need pictures!!!!
YAY Congratulations, just love his name, how cute and appropriate LOL
Yay! I finally got my avatar changed!!

This is Chewie, in our big pond. It's one of his favorite spots, so I picked it as his avatar. The rest of the pictures are similar, or show him in the yard looking like a drowned rat! And that was with both the 35mm and digital cameras. Or else he's a blur, running around with the other dogs or wrestling.

I will get the camera out and try to get some better pics of him on dry land. (If the rain ever stops). Every time he's out this weekend he looks like he has been swimming. He really does look cute and fluffy between times.
OMG... HOW CUTE!!!
Belated congratulations!!! Can't wait to se pics!
