15.5 YR OLD FEMALE OES IN KALAMAZOO MI

I wasn't sure if anyone caught this tonight - I am not familiar with any OES rescue in MI, but I would hate for this 15 year old to fall through the cracks because of her age.

She looks very cute. I wonder how they approximate age like that (approximately 15 years 5 months). I wonder if it is true -- maybe they meant 5 years? She has a cute shape for an old lady. I hope someone can spring her!
Val at the shelter says Holly has a recorded birth date of 1991 (not typed in but hand written). According to the info she has the family lost their home/apartment and they said they would reclaim her by Thursday, August 17th. No rescue or individual has shown any interest in this old sheepie-girl. Most probably won't assist because of her age (I already asked this question). There were no notes included in her paper work about medications or temperament problems... Val said they probably would have been included if there were issues. Holly has until Monday to find someone to assist her. She's 200 miles away from me. Wonder if the family being under some stress might have reported the birth date incorrectly?

Well...if she really is 15 years old...then she deserves to be adopted for being a historical treasure!!
Poor old girl, she looks great! I couldn't believe her age. I agree, perhaps the family was rushed to get her in a shelter. If she was that age, don't you think she'd have more medical problems to list? I hope she gets adopted!
An amazing age. I hope she is helped soon - what a retirement she deserves!!
What a beauty! I hope she finds a good home!
I was told the records show it was a police assist so it must have been stressful. I'll wait 'til Friday to see if she's been reclaimed... if not, I'll ask if I someone will check her out to possibly determine if she's actually 15 or 5. But not much I can do from here if no rescues/shelters want to assist.

Does anyone know how long the shelter will keep her? Please keep me updated on this one if you can. Thanks.
Please keep us posted on what you find out about this girl , Jaci. I too would hate if she fell throught the cracks due to an error in her age.

I have an animal lover friend whom lives in Kalamazoo and when I hear an update from you Friday, I'll contact him and see if he could help if the family doesn't reclaim her.

Lets hope for the best for this girl.

As I mentioned before, I was told Holly has 'til Monday to be reclaimed or find a home. BUT I see the following on a new PetFinder listing...

"You can take her home on or after 8-21-06."

So there is a bit of conflict in info I've received. The new PetFinder listing with new pics of Holly can be found at-

If anyone is interested in assisting her, you need to mention "Holly- Cage 105" so they can easily locate her & her info.
A rescue friend spoke with a compassionate person at the shelter yesterday and this is what she told me...

"The shaggy dog with a tail cannot even get up from a lying down
position. She will not allow the help to reach in ....although they did get
her our of the kennel, (not a pure bred OES) who growls when approached."

So it appears the age is correct and that maybe "the big sleep" would be kindest for a sheepie-girl at this advanced age. So much turmoil and change for any dog but it has to be even more difficult for the old ones. It's just not fair for her to be in this position. Sigh...

If anyone still wants to assist Holly they should speak directly with the shelter. Holly- Cage 105

In the photos she is both standing & sitting. I am confused???
Maybe we can all chip in & have her boarded until she finds a foster or a home? sue
Poor girl :(
I see she is still listed. Any updates? sue
Holly was picked up yesterday by the Kalamazoo Animal Rescue. I called and left a message for them to call me today so I'll pass along whatever I hear.
Good, I hope she can live out her days not in a cage... poor girl.
Here's what I learned. After a vet exam Holly is more like 6. based on her activity level and teeth. She and Reva were turned over to animal
services late last year, were taken to a rescue, and lived for 2 months in a barn stall (in the WINTER  ). She is currently staying with the vet who examed her, has been microchipped but not spayed. I spoke with Tamsie from the shelter, she is trying to place Holly ASAP. I called Geri House to see if she can help but haven't heard back yet.
Alas! More to the story as we all expected...
I talked to Will, Geri's husband. He was most willing to help and without hesitating said they would get right on it. I also mentioned Chloey in Owosso and will email them the information, it's possible they may be able to get her as well. I told Will that if tranportation was needed I would see if any forum members could help. If I hear anything more I'll pass it along. Thanks Will :)

Sorry, I wasn't more on top of this. Please call back and talk to Geri when she's home. Unfortunately, Willy is not well and can be forgetful so he may not tell Geri.
I have posted a new thread to highlight that per Chicago OES rescue, Holly is actually 9 years old. She needs to find a home!

Why don't people believe she is 15? That was what was written in her records when she was given to the shelter is it not?
I think it would be nice if she were younger of course, but people should assume she actually IS what the owners said she is, just in case there are particular medical needs, and so anyone adopting doesn't get their hopes up to have this dog for many years to come. JMO
I don't have any other details about the matter.
