Some do some don't... and how long it takes really varies too. It took Dancer almost a year to fill in the pigment around her eyes, and she has brown eyes.

Sky has one blue one brown, and neither eye has any pigment around it.

Panda has brown eyes, and has pigment all around both, but hers is not really dark yet.
Panda has black eyeliner....she always did though!
Speaking of blue eyes... I also have a question.

Barkley was 9 weeks old on Saturday (the 12th) and his eyes are a deep/dark blue-grey... I would describe it as a dark, smokey blue.

Is there any way to know what his real eye colour will be like (is this it)? I'm pretty sure human babies all are born with blue eyes and they change later. Do OES eyes change colour as they get older?

Are your OES baby's eyes the same colour as they were at 8 or 9 weeks?
Panda's eye color actually got lighter. They were the color of the sky, now they are a shade lighter.....freaky crazy eyes...lol....but still beautiful!
Steph if his eyes are dark, they will most likely be brown... plus he has color on his face, so again, that would mean in most cases that he will have brown eyes.

I think brown, too. Bingley has one bright blue eye and the other one looks similar to what you said above. Next to his blue one it is obviously brown but if it was by itself it would leave some people guessing. :D
Sheepie Heaven - Zeke's eyes were that deep smokey blue when
he was a puppy, but by 8-10 months his eyes were brown. At first I
thought they would stay like that, because they were unlike any in his
litter. Tucker's eyes are almost black, Zeke's are much lighter brown.
I think if they are going to be blue there is no question even when
they are pups.
But I love both the blue and brown anyhow!

Shellie
Thanks Shellie! I was just curious. Good to know it's a "normal" colour. Some days his eyes almost look a dark green!
My oes that hasn't come home to me yet has blue eyes and he's 7 weeks. They are strikingly light blue at this point - no doubt about it. So I'd say yours will probably be brown. I have a pic posted of my pup at 7 weeks - I'm getting him in about 10 days. Well, your puppy is gorgeous either way - love those black eye patches.

:P

Jane
Thanks Jane. I'm guessing your pictures of your puppy haven't been approved yet, because I can't view them.

You must be so excited! 10 more days!
I am trying to update my avatar next to my name to no avail. Ugh. The pic now is of my mom's OES and my rabbit as a baby. She would snuggle in Lex's armpit to hide from my mom's other dog a rottweiler. The OES is queen of the house though. She protects children and small animals. It's a weird phenomena, but they are really gentle (or at least she is) with other animals and kids. I am excited, but at the same time anxious - I've never had a real bonafide puppy before so I feel like I'm bringing home an infant. Even as a kid we always got dogs at adulthood. I read you need to take them out to go to the bathroom every 2 hours even at night. It's going to be an experience.
Young puppies (i.e. 8 weeks) are like having a baby... but much easier (I think).

You'll find lots of advice about puppies in the House-Training and Crate-Training sections of the forum. You probably don't need to get up every 2 hours during the night though. We take away Barkley's water dish around 9:30 pm, one last potty break between 10:30 and 11pm and then he'll now sleep for 7 1/2-8 hours at night without a break - and he's only 11 weeks old!

From day 1 at 8 weeks old we had that schedule but we'd wake up for a potty break after 4 hours to start then get up around 7am. So, we only had 1 potty break in the middle of the night right from the start. Every week or so the nighttime potty break got later and quickly we found he was sleeping through the night.

Good luck!
Thanks for the advice, sounds decent and not so scary now. Pic is finally posted!
Mine was a blue-eyed OES-mix but here are comparison photos. http://www.pomeroys.com/EmmaDarby/Nikki/Nikki.htm One is on the day we brought her home... the one with her ears standing up was at about 11 years old. A neighbor had commented on how her eyes had lightened in color.
Jaci
She was a beautiful girl, Jaci. :D
:D Daisy have verry light blue eyes, but she has verry dark black eye liner and she got it early. She also has lots of dark pigment all around both eyes
Thanks Tammy...
she was a very special sheepie-girl. :D
