Bravo Bentley!

I have got to be the proudest sheepie mamma alive today. I took Boo to pick up the new van and after leaving him in the old van for 10 minutes (he was sticking his head out the window for most of it, I was watching him) I told my salesman that I had to get him out of the car and to come get me when the paperwork was ready. Well, one of the other salespeople saw us and said I should just take him inside, so I did.

Mr. Boo was so well-behaved, I almost cried right there in the dealership. Naturally, everyone wanted to see him and he sucked up to every one of them. He was so good, didn't bark once, and one of the men wouldn't pet him until he sat (isn't that amazing!) and after that happened twice, everytime that man came up to Boo he immediately sat. The fellow asked him to down and Boo went right down.

Then I had left the old registration in my car and had to go get it. The finance lady said she'd hold on to Boo and when I went out the door she was trotting to the back to show him to the girls back there. When I came back in and he saw me his face lit up and he ran across the showroom floor to see me. They told me he was perfectly calm and didn't bark once while I was gone!

Also, for a couple weeks now, I have been able to brush him and comb his face without having him on a leash! I'm starting to see that he even likes it, but like a cat, he's pretending he doesn't. When I first got him 13 months ago I had to hand feed him dinner while brushing him.

I see now that I need to change my attitude about Mr. Bentley Austin Buckeye. Sure, he can be a handful sometimes, but he's clearly not the wild butthead I still tend to think he is.

Life really is good!

Bentley's a good kid-- you worry too much! Relax and be proud of of how far you've come with him!

Hi Jil,

You have every right to be the proud Momma of Mr Buckeye Bentley. Look at how far he's come along under your guidance!!! I loved reading about him. Great job!!!

Sometimes they suprise us when we least expect it? Have fun with the new van!

Marianne and the boys
Yay Bentley! He really has come along way.
What a good boy! :D
What an amazingl accomplishment and SUCH a "paycheck" for all your hard work and love!!!!!!!!! Your post just made me smile from ear to ear - way to go!!!!!!!!!!!
What a great job Bentley. I would be proud too. All your patience and hard work are paying off.
Jil, it's because of you the behavior that he has now... He behaved so well at the Philly Picnic too. Certainly not the dog that you talked about before!
Yay Bentley!!!! He just loves his Mama and will do anything to please her! You have put a ton of work into him too, Jil, and isn't it great to see that effort pay off so well? Congratulations!
Thanks everyone! I really am so proud of how far we've come. The grooming thing is especially gratifying, since he wouldn't let me near his face a year ago.

Tomorrow is a new challenge. I shall give him a bath. 8)

I've left that for the groomer, but he's in a puppy cut, so it should be manageable. It's awfully hard to imagine him being calm for this though, but I'm trying. I'm determined to have a positive attitude going in . . .

Anybody want to place a bet on the outcome?
