socks

i have written in the past that olive is an "eater" i have been trying to make sure thing espicall socks ar eout of her reach, but last night i was packing for my vacation to Alaska and i leave tomorrow... and i think olive got ahold of a sock and ate it. she threw up two times last night and for a brif moment i thought she was not brething well. but i sat with her and she calmed down and started to act norman then she fell asleep. the thing i am worried about is i leave and if she did get the sock and she can't get it out then what? the lady who adopted my rescue is here in town and we have an arangement to dog sit for each other. iam just paranoid. its just olive has not pooed today which is VERY unusual for her. should i not worry or should i take her for an emergency trip? how long with no poo before you get worried. she is eating and peeing and acting like her normal self today, but i am a first time mom leaving her baby for the first time and really scared something is wrong. any advice would be helpful.

Watch her very closely, if she still does not have a bowel movement this evening, call the emergency vet! Did anything sockish come up when she threw up? She should be having at least 1 bowel movement a day... if not, there might be a blockage somewhere.
Our dog has vomited up some underwear in the past, so that would be a good thing.

Given your timing, I would give the vet a ring, but this will be quite expensive. I don't know if an x-ray will see a sock, perhaps an ultrasound will. Then if they need to remove it.... ouch.

I wish you all the best.
when she threw up it was food mostly. my vet said to give her peroxide because it makes her throw up, so i will try that first, and now my dad is watching her for the weekend so he has instructions if no poo by tomorrow afternoon then he MUST take her to the vet. i hope it works out because my vacation will be ruined if not. and i will be so upset if anything happens to her. i will worrie the whole time i am gone.
Might be a good idea to leave a written note giving your permission to treat her at the vets.

Hope she is OK and that it's a false alarm.
Hi,

I can't offer any advice just my support and sympathy. Hope everything is going to be okay. Hugs to you

How are things? Any poops?
I hope everything is fine and that she is quite healthy now, but this is as you well, know very serious. Not wanting to cause you more stress, but this can be fatal.
SORRY FOR SILENCE, I TOOK THE ADVICE OF LEAVING A NOTE IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. A DAY AFTER I LEFT SHE PASSED THE SOCK AND A HAIR BAND. SO THE EMERGENCY WAS AVERTED. I CALLED AS SOON AS I LANDED IN SEATLE AND THEY TOLD ME THE NEWS. ALASKA WAS REALLY PRETTY AND O SO NICE AND COOL, AND I ACTUALLY ENJOYED MYSELF BECAUSE I KNEW OLIVE WAS OK. i ALSO ENROLLED HER IN AN INTENSIVE TRAINING CLASS THE MONDAY I RETURNED SO MAYBE I CAN FINALLY GET HER TRAINED NOT TO EAT THINGS AND TO DROP IT WHEN I TELL HER INSTEAD OF SWOLLOWING IT. :x ANYWAY THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT. IT WAS LIKE LEAVING A NEWBORN BABY FOR THE FIRST TIME AND I WAS WORRIED ABOUT HER THE WHOLE WEEK JUST LIKE A PARENT. mY FATHER HAD HER IN THE CAR WAITING FOR ME WHEN HE PICKED US UP IN THE AIRPORT AND FUNNY THING SHE SAW ME AT THE DOORS AND MY DAD HAD THE FRONT DOOR OPEN AND OUT SHE BOUNCED AND RIGHT INTO THE AIRPORT. WOUNDER IS THEY TOUGHT SHE WAS A SECURITY RISK :D IT WAS FUNNY AND THE OTHER PEOPLE WAITING FOR THEIR LUGGAGE WERE PETTING HER TOO. ( WE HAVE A VERY SMALL AIRPORT, SO I GUESS THEY DIDN'T CARE TO MUCH) ANYWAY IT ALL WORKED OUT SO I AM RELIEVED
Glad Olive was okay and you could relax on your trip. I'm sure it was wonderful!
Wonderful, I am glad your baby girl was OK and sounds like she was sooooo happy to see you back home. Hope you had a wonderful vacation :D
