Can I use this banana in bread? It's mush from the freezer.

I'm about to bake some banana bread. I had one of the banana's in the freezer ...which was already very soft before putting it there (put in there yesterday). It just thawed, and it's like mush now. Worse than... Can barely grab it. Is it still okay to use? I think it would make the bread too soggy now?

It should be fine...the mushier the better to incorporate it!
Like practically liquid mush? :?

I guess I waited a few days too long before ptuting it in the freezer. I just like them when they've got a few brown spots. Tastes better to me when making banana bread.
The banana should be fine. They are always very liquid like when I take them out of the freezer to use in bread.
thanks!
I also freeze my bananas and use them for banana bread. They make great bread but stink a bit, don't they?!
Turned out great! Good to know it wasn't a big deal. :)
My Grandma says they make better banana bread if they are frozen when they are really ripe, a lot of brown but not totally brown. I've never made it, but hers is great so if I ever do I'd be following her recipe I guess :)
Yeah, seems sweeter that way! :) I substitute sugar for brown sugar in my recipe too sometimes. Yum.
Speaking of frozen bananas, this recipe was on yesterday afternoon, Alton Brown's
"Good Eats"

Banana Ice Cream

6 (approximately 2 1/4 pounds) ripe bananas
1 tablespoon fresh squeezed lemon juice
3/4 cup light corn syrup
1 vanilla bean, scraped
1 1/2 cups heavy cream

Place bananas in freezer and freeze overnight. Remove bananas from freezer and allow to thaw for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Peel bananas and place in bowl of food processor along with the lemon juice. Process for 10 to 15 seconds. Add corn syrup and vanilla bean seeds and turn processor on. Slowly pour in the heavy cream. Process until smooth. Chill mixture in refrigerator until it reaches 40 degrees. Transfer mixture to an ice cream maker and process according to manufacturer's instructions. Place mixture in an airtight container and freeze for 3 to 6 hours before serving.
that sounds delicious. I love banana ice cream!!!! (and pb too)

I can't think or type banana now w/o thinking of that b. a.n.a.n.a song. Wish I knew the name of it but I'm probably the only one ghetto enough to know it. And I only know it because it's on the radio every day.
Only one I can think of is Harry Belafonte's Banana Boat song:

daaayyy-ooooooo! Daylight come and I wanna go home.
^^^^^^

oh nooooooooooooooo. i have that song in my head now. i'll be singing it all day!!
yeah, me too!

"come Mr. Tally man, tally me bananas............"

and I'm headed to the store to buy......bananas

helppppppppppp!
ahhhhhhhhhh :excited:

you know it's bad when you're doing the dance moves to that song and your kid is just sitting down and laughing. 8O
:rimshot: got me! I don't know the dance and the doggies don't laugh at me (or so I can hear)
