Kaye's puppy Petunia

So...
Just when I was gonna give up, EVERYTHING fell into place!

Thanks to some guidance, I called a reputable breeder in WV who had 2 girl puppies available. I talked to her over the phone and planned a visit this week.

Just when I was about to sign the contract this morning, KAYE called!!
We talked for over an hour about Sheepies, about rescuing, life in general, and how AWESOME this board is!!! She is a very wise woman who has inspired me in just one phone call to help out with rescuing once we settle down in Houston.

My husband and I fell in love with Petunia and can't get her out of our minds!! She was one of the two tiny babies that didn't get their tails docked. Kaye said Petunia has the sweetest disposition and temperament. Not a single aggression in her. she was the first to crawl out of her play pen and she was the first to give Kaye tons of kisses and affection.

The deal with Petunia is:
The litter seems to be an OES mix (maybe boarder collie?) Not a pure bred OES. Petunia has a brownish, greyish spot rather than a black one
My husband and I were kind of worried that she may shed like a boarder collie, or have double the desire to herd...us... but Kaye said her hair seems like OES hair, not the rough shedding ones.

We decided even if she "seems" like a mixed breed, her face, we can't get her face out of our minds... so....I just sent out an adoption application for Petunia.

Kaye even said she can take care of her till we move down to Houston!!
Thank you everyone for your encouragement and support!
I may be a sheepie mommy too very soon!!!

Congrats! :) So are you getting a pup from Kaye and one from the breeder? Or just Petunia?

Are you going to change her name?
Congrats!!! Yea for Petunia!!! :cheer:

When do you move? ie...how long do you have to wait for your sheepie?
Congrats!!! That is so exciting!

WE have Chipper (formerly known as Franc) from Kaye's first round of Miracle Babies- and you are right- she is an incredible woman with intelligence of the breed beyond my wildest dreams. Cannot wait to see pictures and hear about Petunia!!! When do you move to HOuston?
Congrats!! :high5:

I'm just going to get Petunia from Kaye.
As much as I'd love 2 sheepies, I don't wanna overwhelm myself with the move, and 2 puppies right now so we had to make a choice.
Both of our hearts agreed for Petunia no matter what we tried to do!!

The name is a big dillema.. we don't know what we should do.
I like 2 syllable names, easy to call...

I have to wait EXACTLY 1 month!
We are moving down on the 22nd... 7 day road trip... and pick Petunia up around Sep 1st!!

Nothing wrong with "Ronnie" :D
or Darcy :D
Darcy, I just knew you were going to say that. :P

LOL "Ronnie"

My husband completely Knocked Out my suggestion to call her "Candy" 8O

Our current dog's name is "Royce" from Rolls Royce--meaning Kingly.
He acts nothing like a king. but a Clown... I kind of wish we named him PONCHO or something funny.. LOL

So far: Buffy was a candidate... but we both kept imagining "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" kind of OES with blood all over her mouth from fighting the evil mailman..
Congratulations! Before Ian and I knew we were getting a boy, we had picked the name "Mara" for our girl. Good luck choosing.
lol...tammy....Im gonna keep trying till someone uses it!!

I like the name cricket too...especially the way they pounce when they are puppies and how they love to chase anything in the garden :D
Nicole has 2 syllables...so does Nikki or Nicky or Nickee..... 8O

Dixie's name was Lil Deb and it took us a week to find her a new name.

Names that were in the running were "Crumpet" and "Tigger".

Bosley was a Bosley immediately.
Congratulations! That is wonderful news.

I like the name Phoebe for a big poofy girl.

I also like the name Bunny because it is so silly. It is kind of like Cricket. I didn't think of Cricket. I think I like that better than Bunny.

Petunia could be shortened to Tooney -- like looney tunes -- perhaps good for a clown? Or Tuna. . .

I don't know if you were kidding Nicole, but I do like Nicki -- I picture friendly, casual, and athletic.

One name I don't like is Kaya. No offense to anyone with that name but there is a woman at my dog park who is constantly screeching it at her dog and it sounds so brittle and whiny. You do have to think about what the name sounds like when called loudly out in public. . .

And of course Darcy -- that's a great name!

Good luck!
I didnt think of Bunny and I like that too!!!

 thanks Val!
How exciting soooo many changes for your family.I think Petunia is a great name! A flower, aka puppy, that can be transplanted, needs care and nurturing and will bloom!! Best of luck on all your new adventures.

"Tooney" is what us in the Big White North call the 2 dollar coins. I think it is the official name, now.

Yeah, me too! !!! Wish I was..... 8O

Might be best to get her home, then choose. She was my pick of the bunch, too! I'm so glad you and hubby found her so special!
How exciting! I actually like the name Petunia. It made me smile right away. I think it was the skunk's name in Bambi.
Congratulations - I know you will love the baby.

I always liked the name Casey but Darcy is a really nice name too.

Not sure why my husband wanted to name our pup London - half the time we run around calling her Minnie Me (from Austin Powers).
What fantastic news! :clappurple: :go: See? God works in mysterious ways!!

I just can't wait for the welcome home pictures and stories!!
Yeah! Another miracle baby adoption! I'm sure the wait seems like "forevah" but the time will pass quickly. And soon Petunia will be a member of your family. (I think Petunia is a righteous sheepie name).
I wonder if Petunia will be like my Harry, the right side of the avatar. His hair is wonderful! Doesn't tangle or mat, the undercoat stay in place until I comb it out.

Whatever, if there's BC in Petunia, you've got a smart girl with a sheepdog heart.......WOW.
Congratulations on your new puppy! I can't wait to see pictures when you bring her home! :yay:

I saw where you were thinking of the name Buffy - my family had a sheepie named Buffy when I was a little girl, so of course I think that is a great name for a fluffy dog! What great memories! :hearts:
Whatever name you pick, you know it will soon loose all previous associations for you and only remind you of your sweet girl. So the question is just whether you will mind everyone else's comments and questions when you introduce them to your baby.
Oooh, I like Cricket...we had a Cricket (beardie) when I was growing up. And we had a Bunny (a rabbit) when I was growing up!
And my dad used to call me Looney Tunes when I was growing up!

I think this is great, and probably much better than trying to drive across country with a new puppy...Although are you sure you don't want to stay in VA so we can have sheepie parties? 8)
I just think Petunia is an adorable name for an adorable puppy.
I vote for you keeping the name. sue
Hooray! I knew once you spoke with Kaye it would all work out

Chipper and Noodle are brothers from the last bunch at Kaye's. She de-sensitizes the pups by playing music, videos, thunderstorm sounds. All of the grown OES help to take care of the puppies and teach them good manners. She will probably be mostly potty trained too!

You will be so happy with Petunia :D

Blessings,
Lark
I love the name Petunia for the puppy :D She's a dear little girl and it will suit her very well. good luck!
