foster pups left

Well, I returned the foster pups on Sat and spent the day helping w/ the adoption day at Petco.

On Thurs evening, the 4th foster showed up just when we were beginning to get things into some sort of order. She was a little instigator and wouldn't be quiet.

Thurs night, I stayed up late to make sure everyone was down for the night, then was woken up at 2:30 am with all of them yapping/ playing. As I was not supposed to have them here, I had tried to keep everything as quiet as possible. No more sleep that night.

During the day Fri wasn't too bad - neighbors are all at work so not as much of a problem but I still couldn't leave them other than short excursions out w/ DAisy and Ollie. Fri night I went to bed early as I was totally exhausted by this time. Again, I was awaken about 1:30 am but the dogs settled down again after about 1/2 hr - however I couldn't get back to sleep and didn't want to get up.

The 4th pup to come was another little female that Daisy didn't seem to care for at all. I'm not sure if it was because she was trying to protect all the ones she already had from this troublemaker or what, but if anything started up, she went for that pup and put her in her place.

When I left Sat morn w/ all the pups, I wondered what Daisy and Ollie would think when I returned w/out them, but it seemed like they were relieved to have me back to themselves. I know the cat (who tolerated all the pups) was relieved not to have them here - he stopped hesitating about coming in the door.

Anyway, was a great experience and now am positive that 2 dogs are all I can handle in my present situation. Maybe someday I'll have a place w/ a fenced yard and can foster again, but not here. I'll try to help the rescue in other ways as I admire the work they do.

You did great work! I admire all of you who can do rescues. I can't - I'd end up keeping every animal that came through my house. :) I tried it once with a horse through our local humane society when I was in college (well, my parents actually but I talked them into it), and we ended up keeping him. Poor thing had been starved to death, but we got him healthy again and he grew to trust us.

We (humane society) once rescued about 20 dogs from a lady's house because she passed away and the family did nothing but lock them up in the house and call us. I took a couple of them home and kept them... One of them is still living and at my parents' house now. :) I found out quick that I'm not very good at the rescue thing! lol
You did a great thing by helping out this week!

I always think it feels a little too quiet when a foster goes gets adopted.

Is it quiet at your house now?
Hope you are well rested by now!! Good job!
Well done for all that you did :D
