Offical hello!

Hi everyone!!!!

I've been lurking at various dog sites until last week, when we finally decided that we want nothing other than an Old English Sheepdog

This site has been a tremendous help in learning about them and the more I read the deeper I fall~

To tell you little bit about me,
My husband and I are currently in Arlington, VA. We currently live with our 1 year old cocker spaniel boy, Royce, who is in desperate need of an OES sister!! Around the end of August, we are moving to Houston, where all my family lives.

That is when we're gonna add another baby....
We both just fell in love at first sight, and strongly felt the vibe when we looked at Kaye's puppy pictures... also the fact that she's in Texas, although 6 hr drive, is a plus...

Oh boy,,.I've PMed her with soo many questions I hope things work out..

I hope to be a regular and active member here and contribute as much as I can. Nice to meet you all!!!

Welcome to the forum!

Hope you are enjoying all the great info here!

Soon you will have an OES of your own, don't forget we love
pictures!

Best wishes,
Welcome to the forum!! :)

We can't wait to hear about your new furkid when the time comes! :)
And all about your current furkid too of course :)
Hi and welcome!! I cant wait to see puppy pictures! Good luck with your move.....
Welcome!
Good luck with your move & finding your new pup.
Welcome and good luck with your future addition!!!
Awwwe....Thank you for the warm welcome ~

OES was my dream dog..even when I was very little, when everyone went through a phase and wanted to own a golden/lab/German Shpard/toy maltes, poodle...

I always wanted to own an OES...
To be honest I always thought they weren't good family dogs...
The size & massive hair combined together seemed daunting
(Didn't think of the possibility of shaving then)
They seemed like uncontrollable, stubborn, hyperactive sheep dogs...
(I'm sure many are)
But more I read about them, learn about the "dog world" I can't seem to find any other large breed to call my own~

Please help me learn more about them so I can be best prepared for my own OES... and foster some when we buy our first house!!!!
Welcome! Hope you move goes well and picking out your sheepie! They are a blast!
Hi Joanna,

I really hope things work out for you in getting the right OES for your home. Welcome to the forum - there's always plenty of information on sheepies here, and once you have a sheepy, if you have a problem - these folks are great at sharing and advising some of the things that they have gone through. It's a great group of people.

So welcome again from the 3 sheepies in Baton Rouge, LA.
Delighted to meet you!! Welcome!
Welcome.
Welcome, I'd say neighbor, but Houston is a far piece from New Mexico......in fact it's a far piece from Kaye! Texas is huge.

Cartoon with people in a car: "The sun is riz and the sun is set.....and we ain't left Texas yet."

I was used to getting turn-by-turn direction from my GPS system, you know things like
Quote:
Take route 495 for 27 miles and take exit 27A, route 85N. Proceed 8 miles...
Headed eastbound through Texas, I recall getting driving instructions something like this:
Quote:
Turn left and enter I-10East. Drive 1100 miles and take exit....
...and it snowed in Dallas just for us.

Everything in Canada is like that. Several states are closer to me than most of our own provinces. LOL
Some of our cities are bigger geographically than some of your entire states! Not as crowded though LOL

I just looked it up for fun, Texas is 268,601 square miles, and the province of Ontario is 415,000 square miles.
HEE HEE..
You know I've never lived anywhere other than the NE.
My first visit to anywhere beyond the the east coast was to Houston Texas, when my mom moved there with my stepdad after we all went off to college...

Everyone drives like the world is coming to an end 80-90 miles/hr...
but people are very nice and hospitable..
Welcome, Joanna!! My son currently lives in Arlington. Great city!!

Houston, huh? Very hot, crowded city. My company has a sales office there so a bunch of my people travel there frequently.

Good luck in your puppy/rescue search! We'll be here for you every step of the way!
