DOG INSURANCE

I WAS WOUNDERING IF ANY OF YOUHAVE DOG INSURANCE AND IF SO CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT IT. DO YOU FEEL IT IS WORTH THE COST ( I KNOW I WOULD PAY ANYTHING FOR MY DOG, BUT I MEAN IS IT A SCAM) ARE THE SITUATIONS WHERE IT COULD SAVE? I ASK BECAUSE I PUT A TOPIC UP ABOUT OLIVE EATING SOCKS, AND A GUEST REPLIED ABOUT 2 OPERATIONS REQUIRED ON THEIR DOG BECAUSE OF "EATING" I AM PROOFING MY HOME, BUT IF AT 6 MONTHS I SEE A PROBLEM WITH EATING THINGS THAN I WOUNDER IF INSURANCE MAY BE WORTH FINDING OUT MORE ON. I TRUST THE OPINIONS ON HERE MORE THAN A VET WHO GETS A KICKBACK FROM A DOG INSURANCE COMPANY. 8O

that is a good question, I have always wondered this myself.
In some situations insurance can be a definite life-saver for your pets. If you're going to look into it really research carefully which insurance plans are available and what they cover compared to their cost. At this point, my husband and I have decided not to get pet insurance, but to put $30ish/month in a seperate account reserved for doggie troubles. This only works if you're dedicated enough not to touch the money for other reasons. It really depends on you, your pets, and which style suits you most. Good luck! :D
I have Pet Assure for Hendrix. So far I've gotten my money's worth! It's not really pet insurance, but like doggie HMO. You need to go to the vet's they have listed on their website (luckily our current vet was one of them) and then you get 25% off every visit. They say on the website that select medications are covered, but my vet covers all of Hendrix's. So it's $100 for the entire year or $9.95 for 1 month. What's nice about the option to buy 1 month of coverage is you can buy it for your dogs yearly visit. So far I've paid for the $100 fee.

I have pet insurnace on both of my dogs.... and let me tell you ... I sleep better at night knowing it. My insurance is 42.00/month for both dogs and it is with Pet Care. They are awsome. They have saved Dudley's life many times in the past 4 years..... Dudley is a chewer and he has had 3 operations to remove objects from his belly.... he tore his CCL when he was 16 months old that needed to be repaire and a few tumors removed...the insurance has covered everything.. all I had to pay each time was the $75.00 deducitable.

If you are going to get insurance, you should look into it now... they will not cover anything that is pre-disposed, so now is the time to enroll him while he is young.
I am going to check out both. Considering I now have 3 sheepies. I just picked them all up from the vet about 1/2 hr ago. All 3 bathed & groomed & London's 3rd set of shots and my bill was $154. $95 of that was for London's dr visit and her shots.

And especially since she seems to be fond of eating shoes and Lucky is fond of swallowing wash cloths and parts of stuffies. 8O
I have had insurance for all my dogs for their first year because all the vaccinations and neutering/spaying added up so having the insurance was awesome...

However, I never continued and I seriously regretted when we lost our baby girl last October. We spent $4000 on vet bills and she didn't even get surgery. She went into the ER, was in the ICU oxygen tent for 4 days, had series of tests done without any results, and just passed in my arms when went to hold her on the fourth day.

I can't imagine how we would have handled the vet bill if she needed surgery or had to stay in the ICU for longer.... Although I would have spent anything to save my dog, having insurance would have removed a tremendous amount of financial burden.....

I am sooo pro pet insurance!
My current dog as well as future ones will have them the moment they join the family

Wow, great price! We pay our groomer $ 95 for one sheepie groomed :o
HEY THANKS FOR THE ADVICE. IRONIC BECAUSE OVER THE WEEKEND OLIVE GOT AHOLD OF A RAWHIDE BONE AN DSNUCK IT IN THE HOUSE. SHE CHEWED IT UP I GUESS WHILE I WAS SLEEPING AND IT DID NOT DIGEST AND I WOKE TO HER THROWING IT UP., ONLY SHE COULD NOT GET IT UP I WAS SO SCARED FINALLY SHE WAS FREE OF IT BUT I KEPT THINKING I NEED INSURANCE SO I CAN GO TO THE VET IN AN EMERGENCY. I WAS LITERLAY PUTING HER IN THE CAR WHEN SHE GOT THE BONE UP. I THINK I WOULD FEEL BETTER IF I HAD THE SECURITY OF IT SENSE SHE IS AN "EATER"
With Pet Care the cost of insurance on the 70% plan with 3 sheepies would be $152. a month? 8O Better for me to keep doing what I am doing. I have a savings account that I put $ into it each paycheck that is designated for pet emergencies.
Did you look into Pet Assure?
Our vet isn't on the list with Pet Assure. He gives us great discounts on the medicine and office visits and even the grooming because of the personal relationship we have with him that I wouldn't switch to another vet. We just love our Dr. Bud.
I too have pet insurance for Maggie - it is not cheap ($60) month but, given what we paid for her and the grooming monthly and the food and and and... I figured it was just "another expense" :D But in all honesty I would hate to ever be put in the position of having to make a decision concerning her health based on my financial abiity to pay. It certainly allows me to sleep knowing that no matter what I can provide her with the best care.
I LOOKED UP ON THE SITE PETINSURANCE.COM AND THEY GAVE ME A QUOTE FOR THE VIP PREMIUM AT 16.50 PER MONTH I DOG, AND THE STANDARD FOR 9.50 PER MONTH BOTH HAVE A 50$ DUCTABLE BUT THE PREMIUM GIVE A BIGGER REBATE. I GUESS YOU PAY UP FRONT AND THEY PAY YOU BACK. BUT YOU GET 90 % BACK ON BOTH PLANS THE ONLY DIFERENCE WAS FOR THE TERM LIFE ON THE PREMIUM IT COVERS 14,000$ AND THE STANDARD WAS 9,000$ AND FOR EACH INCIDENT IT COVERED A CERTIN AMOUNT. PREMIUM WAS LIKE 3000 AND STANDARD WAS 25OO$ BUT I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT A TERM LIFE IS THAT THE LIFE OF MY DOG AND WHAT IF I HIT THE 9000 AND MY DOG IS STILL ALIVE. ? MAYBE SOMEONE ELSE CAN LOOK AND TELL ME :?
Maybe you'll find some good resources on this page?
