Sucking on stuff animals?

Does anyone elses dog suck on their stuff animals? Hendrix has 1 stuff animal (from Petsmart, it looks like a barbell, it has a canvas center and soft balls on the end) that he will not destroy, instead he grabs it with his paws like he's praying and just sucks on it, breathing really hard.

Any takers?

Dancer sucks on her blanket.
Yep, Nelson does this and he's 18 months old. :cow:

He has a teddy bear that his breeders gave him and it's still his favorite toy. He wraps his big 'ole paws around that bear and works his feet up and down. Half the bear is in his mouth and he falls asleep that way :hearts: It's like a tranquilizer for him.

Like this???? LOL....Panda loves her baby and sucks till she falls asleep...sometimes she uses it as a pillow, other times she will fall asleep with it in her mouth like a pacie :D
:D Willoughby sucks on his special toy, a stuffed sheep dog puppy named Renfrew. He's fall asleep with Renfrew and carries him up to bed and around the living room.I have a photo of him but am still stymied by the posting technique.
Bries a stuffie sucker, loves her babies. :D
Cute!!! I am so envious. Chummie ignores toys. Maggie destroys them.
oh Panda.......that's cute.

Most stuffed toys don't survive longer than 5 minutes with Bear and Clyde on the job. No time for any intimate relationsships to develop with toys!
Luke has "baby" which is a gray bear. When he lies down with it you know he's ready for some serious sleep :)
Clifford, the big red stuffed dog...one of Wally's faves. It's a cute phenomenon. I think something to do with the softness...because sometimes he eats my t-shirts too...
Yep, Panda is doing EXACTLY what Hendrix does. We call it his "woobie" like a little kid and his blanket. It is the only surviving toy.
Mopsy loved her Teddy. She would choose a "suck paw" and suck it until it was perpetually wet. Washing it never got it clean. We just replaced it with a new Teddy and then she would work hard to make a new disgusting suck paw. Everyone in the house avoided getting slimed by the suck paw. She took that thing everywhere and would run and grab it if we were going to another room or to exercise. She would suck Teddy while I worked out. It was her pacifier and blankie all in one.

I always say that "thumbsuckers" are good babies because their pacifier is always handy. The closest Harry comes is once and a while he will lick and chew on the butt of his stuffed lamb. 8O

This is Mospy with her Teddy in the basement.

My parents' Papillon has a giraffe we call it's "Mover" Mother/Lover. He started off sucking on it and pushing on it with it's paws like he was trying to feed and now it gets humped a lot  .
That is so cute!!
Callie's one of the stuffed animal destroyers. I have a box full of stuffed cats and dogs and rabbits I was going to repair, but I think we have given up on the stuffed animals. We have to get the super-tough kong toys now.
thats so funny... my 18 month old male sheepie uses a stuffed football or another stuffed animal as a pacifier.

its really the cutest thing ever. such a big baby.
We say "where's your baby?" and Charlie runs for his stuffed toy. I thought he was the only dog around who sucked on his "baby" until he went to sleep. He is 3-1/2 years old now!
Dutch still sucks on the nose of her teddy that she got when she decided to live with us 8 short months ago and other than the nose it's in perfect condition :D
Hi - my Mal sucked on one toy for years - and since she was the Alpha bitch, no one even tried to take it away from her. We had two littermates and the male sucked on his sister's ear forever - it was always wet....he is also the one who would eat his lead - did that several times and we only found the silver attached to it dangling. Of course, we tried to be very careful about not putting his lead on the crate and after several vet trips out of town, we learned the turkey baster/peroxide trick.
Bing sucks on some of his toys, too! He especially like octopus!
Yeap, Allie will do the same..Hold it like she is praying, sucking while her paws move like a kitten kneading something! She will even fall asleep some times....I have many pics, and videos! So cute...
Oakley has been doing the same thing since he was a puppy (he's now 3-1/2)....we can't travel without his bear....its like a security blanket for him.
I have a Westie named Duncan that sucks on anything soft. He started with his stuffed animals now he sucks on my pilows. It`s so funny to watch, he gets it in between his front paws and sucks away and the funny part is his eyebrows slowly go up and down until he`s so relaxed he falls asleep. I`m glad to know I`m not the only pet owner that has a big baby using a pacifier...lol...Ally
Mony nurses too.

Darcy, must run in the family huh?????
Yep Frank does this too. I think it is the cutest thing ever.
Claiborne will only suck on his stuffed "chicken on a rope". It is meant to be one of those toys you can tug on with your dog with a tennis ball in the middle to chew on. We have decided he is try to make it dissolve instead of tearing it apart
In Hudson's case, sucking isn't a soothing mechanism, it's his MO to destroy his stuffed animals. He absolutely saturates a limb or some part of the toy, to weaken the material and then tears at it until it comes off. You should see the collection of stuffed casualties we have, i.e. a cow with no ears or horns, a dog with no ears or tail, a sheep with one ear and one short leg (after sewing it back on), gorilla with no ears and the list goes on.
Boni only "sucks" on his chicken. He likes to carry it around and squeak it.

This is on the first day we got him at 8 weeks old. We bought him all kinds of toys but he only wanted this old chicken we bought for our other dog.

Now, you can hardly see the chicken in his mouth. :D
[color=#0000BF][/col :clappurple: or]My little Sadie Belle has a pink monkey that came from the pet store. It has long lanky legs and arms and a long tummy. Sadie puts the tummy in her mouth, and she puts the monkey on another soft toy (like it is the pillow), most of the time she makes her paws go up and down (like a comforting motion), and she goes to sleep. She loves her monkey. I got Sadie when she was 5 1/2 weeks old because the mother had stopped nursing (she had begun to get teeth), so I thought the monkey was a replacement for her doggie mom.

Dutch is 4 years old now and still has her teddy and still sucks on it and the nose has just gotten rattier
I wish Jack would take up with a stuffie instead of sucking his hair.
Sam does this too! Mostly with his blanket now because he tends to destroy anything with stuffing!

We caught him in the act here! He loves his baby! He would cuddle with it all the time and while destroying every other toy...this one would remain safe!

Mady has her little bunny. She sucks on the ears, never chews them, just makes them all wet and, well loved looking. We have a spare bunny hidden away, just in case.
Moe sucks on Victorinos tail a stuffed Phillies monkey!!
My Border collie puppy has done this since we got her 2 months ago . she has a teddy that we gave her for her first night with us and she suckles and kneads it with her paws whenever she is tired.
It is so cute to watch and obviously really pacifies her.
My Lucy used to suck on her monkey and carry it around like a little baby. Every night, she would go get monkey and tuck Monkey into bed. It was the cutest thing. I miss her. I keep monkey on a shelf in my bedroom now.

Dahlia likes to suck the corner of our blankets before she goes to bed in her crate at night.
My sweet springer does exactly the same thing. She does it mostly with her larger stuffed animals. She will grab the head of the animal, bite on it and then wrap her arms around the head and cross them and her paws will even kneed the animal and then she sucks until almost going to sleep. It seems sometimes that she uses this sucking thing like it's her pacifer. It is so sweet and I don't have any friends dogs that do it. So good to know someone elses dog does.
Yup, we have suckers here too! Sometimes in the night I hear this licking sound and I jump out of bed thinking they are licking their feet or attempting to vomit or who knows what else...Sure enough, its one of the dogs licking or sucking on their stuffed bed buddy!
We have a rescue English Cocker, aged five, who arrived a few weeks ago. I have seen him sucking his favorite stuffed toy, in his security blanket, much like Linus from Peanuts. He also moves his feet like he is nursing. ? self soothing behavior. Clearly an attempt to feel secure. I have had four other dogs, three other English Cocker Spaniels and have never seen this behavior before.
Lily our 1 year old mini schnauzer got a baby giraffe stuffed animal with a red scarf this past Christmas when she was 6 months old. It is truly her baby. She is so gentle with it. She sleeps with it at night, naps with it during the day and carries it around everywhere she goes. I am worried something is going to happen to it since she is so attached. She does have other toys but this is the most important thing to her.
Abbey does too. Her's is a hedgehog. I call it a pig. She will nurse on it and go to sleep. That is the only toy she has anything to do with. I have repaired several many times and also have a stash. Oliver likes to get Abby's pig and tear it up. Only her pig!!! :headbang: That Ollie is such a..........................................
Yes, my Ozzy sucks on his puppy! He destuffs the others, but not puppy!
Sucking is so cute. My Monty sucks on his soft toy skunks head. There is some video of him doing this on you-tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDJQQeylNOE
A real skunk wandered through the campsite, fortunately Monty was too tuckered out to notice him.
Tanja
Ramsey doesn't suck on them, but he has to carry a toy around whenever he is let out of his crate, when you come home, etc. If he doesn't have one in there to bring with him, he will go find one, walk BACK into his crate, turn around and come back out, lolol.
