Anybody have any good Dog Treat Recipes?

Hi, I love to cook, bake, grill, anything, and now that I have (am getting on Saturday) an OES puppy, I was wondering if anyone had any dog treat recipes. I was reading the back of one of the "Natural" boxes and the ingredients seemed to be those of biscuits with some chopped chicken or liver added.

Is this the right place to ask this question? I was contemplating the "Health and Nutrition" section, but this seemed to be just as, if not more, appropriate a thread.

Thanks!

Here's some for you, I know there's more under this topic.

If you have a food dehydrator you can steam sweet potatoes, slice thickly, and dry. These are Jill tested and approved
I'm not sharing my yams......well actually I do, but they aren't dried.

Sometime ago SWOES rescue printed a cook book that had a chapter on doggie treats. Jane with So. Calif OES rescue has them now. You might want to contact her to see if she has a copy.

Also there are books devoted to this and websites with other ideas:

Doggie Beef Jerky

2 lbs flank steak
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tsp. honey
1/4-1/2 tsp garlic power and onion powder

Slice the steak along the grain (to make it chewy) and into length you desire. Soak in the marinade for 1 hour. Cover 2 cookie sheets with no stick foil, place strips in a single layer, not touching and bake overnight in a 150 degree oven.....yes, just 150. Store in frig or freezer.

Liver Biscotti

1 lb. beef or chicken liver
1 cup corn meal
1 cup whole wheat flower
1 clove garlic pressed or 1/2 tsp garlic powder

In food processor, puree liver and garlic. Add corn meal and flour to make a firm dough. Turn into a bowl and add a bit more flour, knead with wet hands to get the dough to hold together. Turn onto a very well greased cookie sheet, pat to 1/2 inch thick. Bake 350, 20 minutes. Remove and quickly slice into pieces, return to oven, decrease to 300 degree and bake another 30-40 minutes until firm and dry. Store frig or freezer

Lol. I do love them. They're a great snack. I think I like them more than Clyde. ;)
