My birthday and other things to celebrate

Yesterday was my birthday so we spent most of the day getting ready for the party that we were having in the evening. James and I were cleaning up and about to take showers before people arrived. I was sitting on the couch and he came over and sat next to me. He told me how much he loved me and how he wanted me to have a really great birthday. He kept going, saying how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me and a bunch more stuff like that. I really didn't know where this was going, especially since it's pretty out of character of James to sit down and talk about feelings! It brought me to tears and as I went to hug him, he reached in his pocket and pulled out a box. He went to go down on one knee but Clyde was on the floor in the way so he stayed on the couch with me and proposed. He couldn't have surprised me more. We had looked at rings awhile ago but I didn't know he had it. Turns out he had been planning all along to do it on my birthday and had snuck out of work earlier in the day on Friday to pick up the ring.

It worked out great because we had a great turnout for the party, my dad was even in town from Florida and my mom, his mom, his grandma, my sister and all our closest friends were able to make it so we just made one big announcement. The party was great, everyone was happy for us and everyone had a good time. I couldn't have asked for a better day. :)

Oh, and I said yes!

Clyde dressed up for the party.

Check out the cake my friend made. She did an amazing job. It was 2 layers and those are white chocolate shavings all over it. It was huge and sooo good.

I liked this picture of the kitchen because look which two furry little "people" are right in the middle of everything. They were the life of the party.

Here's a really bad picture of the ring. At least you can see how sparkly it is but that's about it.

And here's me drinkin' and having a good time! For some reason, this drunken picture of me made me laugh so I included it. I'm sure I'll regret it later after the comments start flying. ;)

Gads, that cake looks yummy! What's inside?
Yey Jill and James, It sounds like the perfect preposal, clyde included......Your ring is the prettiest, fuzziest ring I have ever seen :D

Wait for a few years wearing it everyday, that sparkle wont be quite so ''sparkley'' (at least for me 'cause Im too lazy to clean it....oh alright everyone ..no remarks on that)

Happy birthday...great photos.....I wanted to see the one of you dancing by yourself, birthday girl!!!!!........ 8O

The cake is fantastic (YUM), your ring is lovely and clyde is looking like a real party boy. 8)

Again congratulations, so exciting, OK when is the wedding??????? 8)
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
chocolate with butter cream and white chocolate shavings........does it get any better?? Nope.
Congratulations, what a wonderful birthday surprise...hopefully the ring will never lose its sparkle.

Your cake looked sooooooo yummy.
Congratulations!!! Hooray James for pulling off a surprise. You look really happy and it is so nice that you had all your peeps around and pictures to remember the occassion.
WOOHOO!!! Congratulations!! :yay:

Does this mean you've "broken it off" with Cesear?

Yummy looking cake, BEAUTIFUL ring, fun looking party
this calls for the banana man
Congratulations! Best wishes to you and James.
Will Clyde be the ringbearer? Whens the date?

Great looking cake! Happy Birthday! :bdcake:
What a wonderful surprise! Very nice that family and friends were all there to celebrate with you and you didn't have to make a bunch of drunken phone calls to them :D

Hopefully you'll clean your ring more than Darcy and me. I'm very surprised that Darcy cleans her floors every day but not her ring 8O [/i]
Yeah!!! Congratulations! You're finally making Clyde, Lucy and Bear 'legitmate' and not, you know...

The fuzzy ring looks really pretty (was it taken later in the evening when it looked in focus? )

How exciting. What an awesome way to have a birthday and engagement all in one!

My mom took me aside to ask if the ring was my birthday gift because she was afraid I was getting ripped off. She insists that an engagement ring is a stand alone. She felt much better when I told her it wasn't the gift, just presented on my birthday. Moms are nuts!
Woo Hoo! Congratulations!

When the sparkle fades and the bloom is off the rose, know it's just superficial. A quick dip and your rose will be blooming and your diamonds will be sparkling again.
Happy birthday - and what a pretty ring. It looks a little like mine I think - but because it's blurry I can't quite tell. :D Congratz!

The cake looks yummy.... purr.... :P
Congratulations and happy birthday too!!! Your ring looks beautiful!
Congratulations!

And now we know it truly was a happy birthday.

Congratulations again.
Congratulations Jill and James! Much happiness to you both! :hearts:

You'll spend hours every week washing the floors but you don't clean your diamond? Girl, you've got to get your priorities straight. More people see your hands every day than see your floors...
Congratulations!!!

:hearts: :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:
That is so wonderful Jill! Congratulations to both of you, and your ring looks lovely! Fuzzy, but lovely. By the way, an old tooth brush works wonders for cleaning your ring, I clean mine all the time (but then I was in the jewelry bizz for a little while too)

that pic of you is adorable too!
I love suprise engagement stories, congratulations, and now the fun begins. :yay:
I took some better pictures of the ring. I'll post them once they're approved. The filigree setting is the best part so I want everyone to see it!
Happy birthday and CONGRATS to both of you!

mouthypf
Hello!! Somebody approve the new pics!!! We're talking jewlery here people!

And Darcy irons pillowcases but doesn't clean her diamond? Where is your head at?
What wonderful news!! :excited: :yay: Congratulations, Jill and James!!! What a guy, being able to pull off a surprise like that. He's a keeper!!

Your ring is absolutely beautiful!!! Also wondering, with everyone else - when is THE day??
Here's some better pics of the ring:

Before I forget, thanks for all your congratulations! We don't have an exact date set yet but should by next week. We're going to get married in Las Vegas, likely in April. We're want to get married on the pirate ship at Treasure Island, which we thought would be pretty hilarious but we have to check availability of the ship and the pirates. ;) Honestly, we checked the better places and although some were very pretty, the ship seemed like to most fun and, well, the most us. When we told out friends we wanted to get married on the pirate ship, most of them said "Of course you do."

No, afraid not. I really wish we could bring them. Even worse, I'm wondering where they'll go while we go because anyone that normally would watch them is probably coming. They may have to spend a few days at doggy day care boarding.
That's too bad...Bear would look very dashing in an eye patch

What a great day! Wishing you both the best.
Your ring is beautiful. I think it would be fitting since you have a fuzzy ring that you have a fuzzy ring bearer!
We will want to hear all about the wedding plans.

I love the cake to. White chocolate, YUM, one of my favorites.
Congrats to you & James!!! :clappurple:
Billy & I had a Vegas wedding. I wanted Treasure Island....but we did it last minute. We got drunk, Billy's friend suggested to us that we should finally getting hitched. Then offered to take us to Vegas. A couple of drinks was all we needed to persuade us. We were like OKAY. lol
Congratulations Jill and James! You DO make a lovely couple :)
CONGRATULATIONS! THAT IS FANTASTIC NEWS :!:

Loved the pictures! How lucky we all are to get to share in your happiness.

We got married in Vegas too. DUH.

Last I heard that the pirate show was less family oriented and more on the erotic side. Just what I heard, it isn't confirmed. Have you been here before?

So maybe it will work out that you can come over and meet Hannah and Copper. Unless of course you have other things on your mind. SUCH AS A HONEYMOON! I'm guessing you will be having serious Fluffy Furball withdrawals and will be in desperate need of a Sheepie Hug. :excited:

Lol. I hope so. No, I've been to Vegas many times before. It should be a good time!

I'd love to meet you guys if I can squeeze some time in. I've got no plans yet (I'm making calls today) so I'll know more in the near future.
