what a handsome young pup. They are all so cute. I hope he gets a good home.
Hi 8O
I will see what I can find out about the Douglas County
(Georgia) Animal Shelter!
Animal Controls usually aren't the best place for a pupper to stay too long!
Maybe, there's an active volunteer group that will pull & foster :plead:
Diane
Thanks Diane! I hadn't realized it was a pound 'til you told me 8O He is a really cute boy... hope someone adopts him or can spring and place him.
Jaci
Hi :?
I spoke to a Douglas County AC officer this morning.
Sheepie Shane was picked up as a stray yesterday & will be held for 4 days to see if his owners will claim him.
Shane will be held until July 15 or 16 then he will be euthanized 8O
I told the officer to please call me if one of the rescues do not step up...
Not how it works...I would have to call him...ok FINE.
He had no info on Sheepie Shane's health, temperment or physical condition.
I asked if they had anyone on staff qualified to evaluate...temperment testing etc. Answer NO!
Sooooo....I have contacted West Georgia Animal Welfare League
that helps pull & place out of that AC
but no call back to me yet

dang

i would pull him if i could. is there anyone in GA?????
He looks so sweet. He's got feet like Clyde and that made me smile when I saw him! I can't believe someone isn't going out of their heads looking for him because he's gotten lost. If not, somebody'll grab him up quick.

Unbelieveable.
Well, phooey. I guess I'd better post. Diane and I talked this afternoon... if you got a call back Diane will you add to this??

After I read that Diane couldn't get through to The West Georgia Animal Welfare League I called and surprisingly got someone 8O I spoke with a women there and she quickly told me to call the shelter. (Yikes... I might have interrupted dinner  ) I asked if she meant Animal Control and she said yes.

I said I had a question about the part on their website that said, "...Can't foster, but would like to help a pet find their forever home? Making a donation of food or contributing to the medical care for things like spay/neuter,...". I asked if it would be possible to pay to get the boy into foster care. She said that this boy was probably misplaced during the 4th of July festivities and would probably be reclaimed. She also said that the chances of a pure bred dog being euthanized at this shelter were very slim. She mentioned their high placement rate...

She said there was a rescue a couple counties over that often picked up either pure bred or OES... sorry, can't remember which she actually said. She said I didn't have to worry that this boy should be fine. So I couldn't take any steps to MAKE SURE he was okay so it needs to be followed up.

That's all I can add. :?

Thank You Jaci
I sure do feel better about sheepie Shane's situation now :phew:
The AC officer was just giving me the facts ... makes my mind race though!
There's a lot of fireworks here in the Atlanta area...not just on the 4th...last night too!!
Maybe this fella just got away...
 If a pupper gets lost & ends up in AC
they should require it be chipped before it is turned back to the owners!
Diane
We got the hard facts from a person dealing with the dog...
and what one person says usually happens to a pure bred dog...
so who's right in this situation?? :lmt:

I guess we should try to keep tabs on him to be sure he's okay. The good thing is he's in Georgia so you could easily just him on a plane to me 8O Ummmm... NO! Just kidding! Wasn't supposed to say THAT! That sentence at the bottom of my "signature" is a reminder to me

VERY good idea! They should automatically add the chip fee to the reclaim fee so it doesn't happen again.

I'll try to call on Monday to see if he's been reclaimed or if he's gone to rescue. Please let me know if anyone hears anything about this boy? Thanks!
This is the person who is responsible for oes rescue in the SE.

If anyone finds anything out about this little boy, temperment, likes other dogs ect. please let me know. I would concider traveling down for him. It could be a buddy for Abby. She loves anyone and everything. I know she would not be a issue.
What a story!
He looks like a nice pup and definitely worth the extra effort.
Any word on him?
Keep us posted, he's a cutie.
Hi :)
I just spoke to The West Georgia Animal Welfare League gal...
She only goes over to Douglas County AC once a week to take pix & does not seem to be a hands on volunteer...that's my take anyway :?
She informed me that Shane has been on hold all weekend...4 days... time given for owners to claim him.
Shane is now officially up for adoption!
I was told it is not the common Animal Control...
BUT a good & caring group of workers & the adoption rate for PB dogs is quite high!
If anyone is interested in this fella...she says to call the AC!
This is my 3rd conversation with her & I have gotten pretty much the same info each time.
I would be happy to go visit Shane...as he is about an hour or so away on a good traffic day
He is safe now...that's a good thing!
Diane
Thanks Diane :D I tried to call Animal Control early this morning but they were closed. It seems like someone should be worried to tears about him. If I can help in any way, let me know?
Jaci
Diane,
Ditto- if I can help in any way, please let me know!
Just spoke with Animal Control and the gentleman I spoke with said Shane has just been adopted. :D

Thanks for the grrrreat news Jaci!
Diane
That's great! Another happy wiggle bottom!
YIPEE!!! That is awesome news!!! :D
I had also called today and was told that he had been adopted. Hope his new family knows how to keep him well groomed.

Hi, I am happy to report that we have one of the female pups. The shelter said her name was Laura which we changed to London. You will be happy to know that she is doing great and now weighs 28 lbs and has two older sheepdog brothers. The photo on my avatar shows her with her big brothers.

Please PM me (you'll have to register with the forum to do that) as I would love to get some additional info on her from you.
I'm totally confused :? :?: ? Were any of Karen's dog's puppies?

karen, Good luck in finding out info on your babies!!
As I didn't want to hijack this thread I started up a new thread here:

http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?t=9259

It is my understanding that 17 dogs total were confiscated from that home. Some were pups. Not all were OES.

Hi I just got your note. I went out to lunch with my 86 year old mother.

Hi This was Sunday May 28th,2006.I thought my husband was in the bedroom and his door was closed. I had a very bad headache and there was no coffe in the house. My kids were sleeping and I went to get a cup of coffee from Burger King and got them some doughnuts and went to check on my sick mother and my neighbors daughter came by my mothers house and told me my son got scared and called 911. My husband has been sick with diabetes and I had a brusied leg from falling arthuritis and my mother hd a fall and I was tending to her alot. Anyway the police turned me into HRS Childrens and Families and the HRS came to my house May 30th Tuesday. I was very behind on laundry and they took my kids to my oldest daughters house and then they came with the humane society and took all my dogs. My neighbors had turned me into the humane society for the dogs barking in March and then Sonny and Cher got out of the yard jumped the fence and Sonny jumped on a lady's expedition and she reported me to the police for that. I have been trampled on and now I am ignored by the humane society and they will not tell me where my sheepdogs are. Just plain trampled on.

Yes there was a litter of 7 Old English Sheepdog puppies they confiscated also.
I've been posting all over this site tonight! So if I repeat myself, I'm sorry. I have a male puppy from Sonny and Cher's litter. We thought that he was born in March, but apparently no! He's doing great, is housebroken and learning commands VERY rapidly. We have a 5 year old girl who loves him and, we, as well, love him very much. He's growing beautifully and turning into a very well-behaved puppy!

And OHMYGOSH, if he's four weeks YOUNGER than we thought? He's gonna be huge!!! (The rescue guestimated he was born in March)....
