Drowning Self in Water Bowl?

For the past few days, Foz has been doing this really weird thing IN Annie's water bowl. They do share this bowl so it's not unusual for him to drink from it, but...he's sticking his whole snout in it and snorting out his nose 8O It's a very odd sound..like a kid getting water up his nose in a swimming pool. After doing this a few times, he whips his head out with a ton of water on his face which goes onto the floor. It looks like he took a bath in the bowl! So, do you think he's:

1. Trying to drown himself?

OR

2. Trying to give his "reflection" a kiss?

Anyone else's pup do this?

:D Sounds like he's invented a new game for himself! Bentley (of blessed memory) liked to play with his water dish but with less enthusiasm than Fozzie! Lynda
Stacy...you have to ask Sue about this.....Bailey does the same thing and he is a wet slobbery lovable mess!
Sounds like water sports to me! Cootie used to lie on the floor in front of the dish and put her chin/beard in it, then swoosh her head back and forth putting water all over the place. Don't ya just love a silly sheepie pup and their crazy antics? :D Three of mine also loved to dig in the water dish
Try one of those water well bowls stacy, kelsey use to put her whole head in the bowl, she is obsessed with water, hence the new bowl can only get her snout in it NOW!!
Stacy, Pirate used to do that, when he was baby. Its a game. My whole kitchen floor ended up wet.

Don't worry. Fozzie, bubala will grow outta that!
He didn't do it at all today, so maybe the fun is over! :D
Panda loves to dunk her whole head in her water too.... when Dancer was a puppy she would dig like crazy in a full bowl of water....lol.... what a mess!
Daisy doesn't do this with her water dish, but anytime I fill her food dish (she always has food out for her) she will do basically the same thing - swish her head around and toss food all over the floor. I've never figured out what the attraction is, but she still continues to do it.

I simply pick it back up and return it to her dish...If she didn't eat it, I would think she was telling me she didn't care for it - I have tried a couple of different foods - the same thing happens but she does eat it with no adverse affects.
Our lab Tater both blows in the water and bites/gulps it. He does both with his full head submerged in the pail. He is going on 6 yrs old, and has done it ever since he was a pup.
We once made the mistake of putting ice cubes in Scruffy's bowl. She had a ball, my floor did not. From then on, she gets ice cubes seperately from her water.
Bailey loves to play in the water bowl! He was even more enthusiastic when we had those stainless steel bowls because he could see that other puppy down at the bottom. We switched to ceramic and he's a bit more subdued but if we fill it up too far he still goes crazy. Such a slob but I love him anyway.
stella dunks her whole head in the toilet... down to her neck, and comes up a dripping wet mop. Beat that.

Whoa! 8O
Bailey says that he wants to hang with Stella :D
My first male Waldo used to stick his snout under water up to his eyes in mud puddles when we went on walks. He would run the length of the puddle blowing out his nose, under water. It was pretty funny until we got home and I had to bathe him again!

I can picture that, Paula! What a riot!
Very funny, Paula!
Yep - Ollie does that and for my own amusement at times, i put a piece of food in his bowl - mean mummy LOL
oLIVE PLAYS WITH HER WATER BUT USUALLY JUST KNOKS IT OVER, THE THING SHE HAS LEARNED I GIVE HER ICE CUBES SHE JUST LOVES THEM. SO NOW SHE HAS LEARNED TO JUMP UP AND PUT HER PAW ON THE ICE LEVER UNTILL ALL THE ICE IS OUT OF THE MACHINE UNLESS I CATCH HER. I WALKEN IN THE OTHER DAY AND LITERLY THERE WAS A MOUTIAN OF ICE ON THE FLOOR. i REALLY THINK THEY ARE SMARTER THAN I GIVE THEM CREDIT FOR. CODY LIKES THE WATTER BOWL BUT NOT SO MUCH.
That is soooo naughty and so wickedly clever all at that same time!!!! I'd have loved to see a pic of that!
DON'T WORRY I THINK IT MAY BE A PROBLEM THAT SHE WILL REPEAT. (SHE ALREADY HAS DONE IT TWICE) THE FUNNY PART IS SHE IS LIKE HERE MOM A PRESENT. CODY THEN PROCEDES TO BAT THE ICE ALL OVER THE KITCHEN LIKE SOCCER. MAYBE WHEN I LEFT THE WORK CUP ON FOR THE TO HAVE BACKGROUND NOISE THEY GOT SOME IDEAS? :? o IT COULD BE LIKE MOM LIKE DOG I LOVE ICE NOW OLIVE DOES TOO. :D
World Cup in the kitchen   GOAL!!!
Thats really funny,

:clappurple: my little puppy Alfie used to do a similar thing, no matter whos water bowl it was he just used to launch himself in it, practically flooding the floor, hours of fun for him.

But every time you filled up he'd kindly empty it for me, luckily he's grown out of it now, good job coz i dont think he'd fit in very well now!!!
Except for the one who mentioned the thing about mud puddles on walks, I wish I could train my parent's sheepie, Merlin, to do the same thing with water. The area around his mouth gets so dirty so quickly. Having this obsession with water must result in sheepies with clean heads and mouths.
actually because olive is so obsessed with water (and ice) her mouth stays wet and then she attractes lots of dirt and it seems to stay that way. honestly not sure why but really her mouth is so dirty. guess its a sheepie thing
Bailey tto - he loves to get his face wet then he attracts dirt. I guess the diging in the garden probably doesn't help
HAHA Stella does the same thing when she is hot. The only difference is she does it in the toilet! Her whole head underwater!
Thankfully it's in a bathroom that nobody uses. The wet floors around here are an accident waiting to happen.
Just found this story because my 7 mo old Pyr just started doing this!! Truely blowing bubbles with nose in water bowl and terrible mess. It started with dropping ice in the bowl as 90 degrees and she's so hot. Now without the ice she blows bubbles. Like my kids use to do with straw in drink, only worse mess everywhere!
