SOOO is anybody else completley bored at work?!!?

I am sooo bored. Nothing to do, just waiting for a procession of meetings in the afternoon. I guess this is what i get for worring about them and preparing well in advance  Phone calls made, reports typed up, gossiping in the office check, grocery list wrote, dry cleaning picked up..... What else is there.......

How about a dancing banana  now what

I get bored at work too - but I always make sure I look busy while I'm doing it hehe. I made the mistake of telling my boss I was bored once... doh!

Actually, when I post on these message boards during the day - everyone thinks I'm typing up really important papers and that I'm such a quick typist I must be doing something amazing.

I try to look busy - because some days I am absolutely slammed and I know how bad it looks to have free time some days. It seems the boss always catches you. :P

Well - I must head out and pick up my hubby - no more "work" for me! Yippy! :D
Lord, don't you hate that you were born beautiful instead of rich?

I hate work!!! Been doing it for too many years.

HATE IT!

Let's all run away!

Sounds good to me! I can't wait for all those who love their work, aka Darcy, to chime in to make us feel like losers  I just never found my calling, or...I really don't have one :(
I was getting bored at work too....

so I quit LOL
Im always bored....if im not busy....so here i am ...a lot 8O
No more pencils...no more books..no more teachers dirty looks...remember that song you sang as a kid when school was at the end?

Hey forget that I'm the teacher I'm singing that song!!!! Bored? no way!

Urg cleaning out desk, washing down cupboards, sending home bags full of art work, books, pencils, paper..ect. B-b-ques, Field trips, Assemblies, Fun Days and Report Cards.

Then......off until Sept 5th!!!!! Haven't had the summer off for 17 years as I'm always finding other work. I'm sooooooo excited about this upcoming summer..although it means cleaning out my gutters, laying down more laminate flooring, installing brick walkway, cleaning house...yada yada yada..and of course most important of all..spending more time with my uprights and furballs. Can't wait...last day is Friday!!!

Did you really? When? Forever? Or just for the summer?

Give me a call some time. I'm jealous that you talk to everyone else on the phone but me...hee hee.
I have an old chess board at home. Don't even know where I got it. Can't play at all.

So, today I brought it in to work, and set it up on a low filing cabinet.

Everyone, and I mean everyone who walks by it, stops, thinks about it, and moves a piece! They don't even ask why its here. When I ask them if they play, they say no, they just wanted to move a piece!

So...I think this proves...EVERYONE'S BORED!!!!
That's very funny and a good idea, Deb. Do you ever wonder who invented the 40 hour work week? If you are an efficient person, you can be very inefficient for 40 hours.
I find this post humorous!
I have never worked an "office job" so I have no clue about how the 40 hr week goes. I work as a nurse in a hospital - a busy, ortho/neuro/trauma unit. My husband works at a big printing company on a press and they are a busy crew. Other family members are postal carriers, plumbers, several nurses. Only a couple have "normal jobs". My kids are college students now, and have developed interesting views about what the people all do in the big office buildings we see! They never can figure out why there are so many people in cubicles and what they can posssibly do to stay busy. Now I can tell them. 8O

And EXTREMELY envious of Stacey and Marianne!!!!
I get really bored at home... I'm ready to go back to work, but I have to wait until Brandon starts kindergarten.

I don't know what we all do either  Chat online!

Does anyone ever feel guilty or worry that the company's big brother is watching what you do online?

I was thinking the same thing! People usually look "busy", but maybe they are all pretending too! :D
OK, I'm not bored, because I'm HOME with my beautiful sheepies.

But, I have a case of the serious BLUES and BAD MOOD. Anyone have some ideas or suggestions how to overcome it?

Chocolate!! :D
Take your sheepies for a stroll, stretch, breathe...then eat CHOCOLATE!
You know, its not so much that I don't have a lot of work to do, its just I've been doing this job for so many years that its not challenging anymore.

Maybe I need a midlife career change. Whatcha think?

I feel exactly the same way. Also...I have the same amount of work, if not more, but it doesn't take as long because I am quicker at it.

I feel like a new job would be a nice fresh start sometimes.
Yep...it would be fun to really have to think about your work.

OH BTW...I just found www.bored.com

Lots o'things to amuse us.
I've decided that I need a break from working. Thinking about maybe it's time to find a hubby and having kids.

I'm so bored and I don't want to sit in my office. I have work to do but no motivation to do it.
Hey...I have a hubby (love him dearly), but do you think I could find a rich boyfriend??????

(Just kidding, Tony!)
Amanda P wrote:

Still BORED and I'm at a new job
okay another day and another day of boredom.....someone come and save me!
I was just thinking the same thing. Dull...dull...dull.

And is today ever going slowly. Gee, I wonder how Stacey is doing.

(yawn)
I'm so bored and I want to start pulling my hair out. It's a long weekend here in Canada this weekend, and I want out of the office NOW!!!
do you think it's odd that my 2 coworkers are sitting with my manager in his office and I'm out here? i'm debating on whether or not to stay all day. We have summer hours, but that is supposed to require staying here 9 hours Mon-Thurs. But if I'm not doing anything, why should I stay???
SHOE SHOPPING, SHOE SHOPPING, SHOE SHOPPING........well a girl can daydream cant she???????? I am needing a Loehmans fix........hey anyone want to grab an early lunch, gossip and shop....we'll all do a long weekend work strike??!!
sounds like a plan, Darcy? can we stop and get me some scrapbook supplies too?
...and a vodka and tonic?
you bet!!!!! as long as we can drink bloody mary's at lunch!
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
I was transferred to a different department about a year ago. Went from nonstop craziness to total boredom. The company was downsizing so even though I was going nuts I rode it out until they cut me loose. Five weeks paid vacation, 44 weeks of paid severance and six months free medical insurance. Can't beat that!

Now I'm two days out of foot and knee surgery (compliments of my old employer) and recovering nicely. I don't care if I ever go back to work (other than it being a necessity to cover my eBay fetish).

Losing my job when I did was perfect timing because I got to spend a lot of time with Maggie McGee in her last days. I wouldn't trade the time with my sheepies for anything.
how you feeling miss weeble wobble????? lol...and just to let you know that client never showed up and ask if i could wait another 45 minutes....I think not!
I'm sure you know how fortunate you are that your old company gave such a great severance package. I hope you heal quickly :D
I hope you're all healed now.

It was a blessing that you had that time with Miss McGee.
How about a cabana boy bringing us umbrella drinks?

 :D

I'm a firm believer in "everything works out for the best."
I'm totally bored too. :? Have been a lot lately, so it doesn't help the motivation to keep coming in. That darned paycheck is the only thing calling me!

What did we do before computers to make us look busy?

I'm looking at early retirement in 2 years, and sometimes that works against my motivation too. I wanna be gone NOW!!! Gotta get the kid out of college first, though.

So why don't we all go out on the chat line??????????
8O Take up nursing you won't be bored. You'll be lucky if you even get lunch. I think I'd like to be bored for a day. Bloody Mary's at lunch would definately be oout.At Christmas a family brought us fruitcake and I was starved cause you guessed it no lunch. The first bite was good and the second bite burnt your throat on the way down. I never tasted a fruit cake with so much alcohol in in my life. I',m surprised it didn't catch fire when they baked it. I was afraid the rest of the night somone would smell my breath and thing we were drinking. 8O It was good though but I picked out the nasty dried cherrries.

Your post cracked me up.... LOL
Work boredom must be spreading. A friend on my basset board said the same thing -I told her the OES group has a whole posting devoted to the topic! She laughed - and said the basset rescue and her humane society work was all that was keeping her sanity 8) . Just gotta love dog people.

Then on Friday's it's a half day. I left on Friday at about 12:45 and sat outside in the sun :D

Does anyone in the world like fruitcakes at the holidays? I've never known anyone that likes them, yet people still give them as gifts. More than likely they are all regifts
I like certain fruitcakes....not all but some!
There are only 12 fruitcakes in the world, 13 if you count me.
I love fruitcake  Does that make me a bad person?

My grandmother used to make the BEST fruitcake in the entire world. She would make it around Thanksgiving, wrap it in cheesecloth and put it in a special tin. Then everynight before going to bed she would take a bottle of brandy and splash a little over the fruitcake (and take a few swigs herself). By Christmas time they were ready to ship to family and friends.

When I was a kid we used to fight over them!!!!
I like fruitcake, too. My mother made us eat it when we were kids, so I guess I kind of developed a taste for them.

Yes, we are a rare breed. It doesn't last in my house.
I like to toast it and add butter.....
Darcy wrote:

MMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!
I only like my Grandma's homemade fruitcake.... some Scottish recipe, absolutely amazing. Any other, yuck.
Willowsprite wrote:

ABSOLUTELY~!!! Has to be REAL homemade from Grandmothers recipe!!!!
euuuuh no to fruitcake - there's no chocolate in it, whats the point ! LOL

When I'm bored at work, i scatter lots of paper around my desk, have a book handy. The I go on all my day dream websites - Tiffany's, Jimmy Choo, Louis Vuitton la la la day dream all day la la la :cheer:
When I was a kid, my father's secretary always make homemade fruitcakes for Christmas.

I remember I really loved them! It was so cool with all the jellied fruits, and, as I recall, she put a ton of rum in them!

I haven't had one since, but the ones I see in the stores really look gross !
Yep, I love the homemade fruitcakes too. Just thinking of them - cherries, nuts, dates, is making me hungry.
Oh yeah, I haven't eaten breakfast yet!

As far as work boredom - I am a nurse too and never have work boredom. I have the day off today and am babysitting my 3 yr old granddaughter. She is a hoot! Right now she's under my computer desk petting whichever dog is in the dog bed under there. Oh, she says it's Tazz - her favorite - 7 lb min pin. He loves her right back too!
