Dogs Talk to One Another

I always knew that dogs had a language all their own, but didn't really understand it until we brought Foz into the house. They "chat" all the time. Annie will be laying down and start to moan when Foz starts coming over. Foz then starts barking at Annie and this can go on for quite a while (while giving us headaches) until he lays down. This must be her way of settling him down. He will also do this if Annie is being pet and he isn't.

Depending on the situation we will interfere when Annie snaps at Foz. This hasn't been as frequent now because Foz is picking up on Annie's other signals first. The one on Sun AM was allowed. A friend called and wanted us to come by her MIL's house to take pictures of the pups with bandanas for her website. We got them in the car and Foz wouldn't lay down and then he started barking. He was ignoring our commands but immediately stopped barking and laid down when Annie snapped at him. We appreciated her disciplinary action :D Now, if only she'd make him stop eating things in the yard and humping me. Apparently, it doesn't involve her so she doesn't put the effort into it

Annie was probably getting a headache too.

Around here it's MO (Simone) who communicates with me as to other dogs' needs. If one needs to go pee, it's MO who gets my attention and then looks at the dog in need. Alas, even she can't seem to communicate with my husband.

Very funny, SheepieBoss :D :D
Annie sounds like a great mentor for Fozzie

Mine talk to each other, not so much now, but peppa would give this groan and mumble noise when the 2 other girls were rough housing and they would stop and calm down. Always amazed me how she controlled those 2 and they listened to her.
Daisy is the one who does that at my house. She "tattles" on the boys for what she sees as trangressions. She has her bitchy side 8O but can also be very sweet. When Beau was not feeling well she would lay next to him and do this kind of moaning thing with him, very softly. If Luke or Rosco got too close she would growl at them to stay away. Luke will do it sometimes, like when Rosco steals some really good treat off the counter but won't share it with him
Oh yeah! MO is head bitch (tho the smallest dog) here and has many different growls for the other dogs. She now has arthritis so has several new growlies and a snap or two.

If my guys are moaning talk between one another, I'm not a party to their conversation.

It's just like that in our house. Lucy lets us know when she doesn't like something that the boys are doing. I think it's mostly because it's annoying to her since she likes everyone to be quiet and still! Other times, if she thinks the boys are playing too rough, she'll get up and bark in their faces until they stop and then she stomps away all satisfied. Bear and Clyde constantly bark at each other to start play but recently, Bear started a new "get out of here" bark for when Clyde steals his food. As soon as we hear it, we run over and get Clyde out of there. Bear is smart not to get involved in a fight with Clyde.

Poor one legged Bear. He still manages to get around.
