Awwww... I would definitely foster her if she were closer :( I hope someone gets her out ASAP!
poor baby! what an adorable pooch! I hope someone can spring her!
I can't get this dog out of my mind... but she is 9 hours away from me :(

I do know someone who might be able to do some of the driving, if it was a little closer, like Cleveland, then I could pick her up near the New York border.... but even at that it's a 3 hour leg for each person including myself (so 6 hours of driving for each) and 9 hours of driving for the poor dog which probably isn't good for her either.... :(
I can't get her out of my mind either. Also wished I didn't live so far from everyone. Willowsprite crossing my fingers that maybe a puppy express will come through and she can be sprung and transported to you.

So where is she? London OH? or Madison OH? or PA? I am confused. could someone help me get the address so I can see how far away I am?
She is in London OH, Madison County.
I emailed the contacts listed... so we'll see what happens...
oh. well that is about 1 & 1/2 hours away from me. I don't know how I could help really. I wonder what the adoption fee there is. I know we definately couldn't keep her forever and am in a tight spot with the force of moving out of here soon but maybe I could foster her. I don't know. Do you think they would put her down before giving birth?
I would hate to think so, but it is a kill shelter, and if they don't have room for her they certainly don't have room for puppies :( And really, that is no place for pups to be born anyway....
I live in Wisconsin but if someone in west or north of me was willing to foster her, I could transport her part of the way
Also, we go racing with someone from Thunder Bay Ontario, and although he would not be able to keep her, he would most likely be willing to transport her somewhere if it would help
Ok, I'm going to ask Darren if we could possibly foster her - it's my birthday today so he might give in :D
I still haven't heard back from them yet ....
Stacey, it may be hard to get her across the border unless she has rabies..which may be no good for possible pups.

If she can be pulled and transported to Detriot/ Windsor or Buffaloe area I can arrange for her to get to you.
Go Girl Power.....mommy needs to be sprung!!!
Actually Nicole, that would be great if we can work any of this out, even if you could pick her up on either side of the border near Buffalo, my friend lives about 20 mins from Buffalo, and then I could drive to Milton, which is about 2 hours for me.
It's getting her from the shelter to the border that's the hard part :?

And I still haven't heard back from either of the two contacts listed on petfinder ...
OK. We've got her transport covered from Buffalao, then. Could your friend do a leg on that side if needed?

We are kind of working backwards, but I'm sure our Michigan OES friends can help with moving her, right?????
Whistles...dum de dum....say doesn't your girls have their rabies tags...and all sheepdogs look alike...whistles again...

I am crossing my fingers all works out for this girl.

I don't know, I haven't been able to get a hold of her either, I think she might be able to do some, and she lives near Buffalo which is why I'm kind of trying to work in that direction. London, OH in Madison County is actually 214.97 miles from Detroit MI, and 355.74 miles from Buffalo NY... so if anyone in the MI area could get to her, then that would definitely be a shorter trip for the dog.
Then if Nicole could pick her up at the border there, and I could get her from Nicole, that would be great. IF we can even manage this! There are several problems, the rabies vaccine as Nicole mentioned may be a problem. The rescue that seems to already involved states local adoptions only on their site.... but I don't want to adopt her, I just want to foster her.
They haven't replied to my emails, and are not answering the phone... so at this point I'm not sure if we'll even get in touch with anyone??

I don't actually think she has any oes in her. LOL

She looks to me to be a bearded collie/ wheaton mix... she's really small, brown and "sorta" shaggy. LOL Kind of a benji look, so maybe some kind of terrier in there too.
I don't care what she is, I just don't want her to get put to sleep :(
If she can cross the border and someone is willing to meet me half way, I'll take her to Windsor.
Laurie
I just got an email back from them:

permission to cross post

The HSMC had a rescue lined up for the shaggy dog posted below. Her stray hold time of 72 hours was up today (saturday). We were to transport at 5:00PM arriving at rescue foster home by 6:30PM.?

At 1:00PM today, the shaggy mom decided to start having puppies. The shelter staff moved her to the medical room where by 4:30 she had 9 pups. ( I was at a company outing and did not get to see them). We moved mom and pups to the puppy unit at the prison who is allowed to take in moms with nursing pups. They just usually days old not hours old. The prison was told at 1:30 mom and pups would be coming sometime today. The handlers waited like impatient dads in a waiting room, (or so I was told by the Captain at the prison when I called to make sure all got in okay.)

Mom and pups are doing okay as of 6:40pm and will have 24 supervision. The puppy handlers have had a mom with 12 day old pups, 3 week old pups with no mom, and two pups that were 10 days old and no mom. So hoping this mom and 9 pups will be just fine. She is just thin which worries me a little. But the prison has all my numbers to call if they need me. (and yes, been at prison at 3:00AM before.)

So in about 8 weeks, we will be looking for homes for the babies. not sure yet what the pups will look like. Some were black, some black and gray, some tan, one white. Hoping to get some pictures of the newborns this coming week and more pictures later.?

If anybody is interested in future updates on the pups and mom, please email me betty@madisonhumane.org. Otherwise, I will not post more on them in a long while.

thanks,
betty
i dont know if this helps but i'm in Rochester, NY- I can help bring the dog to Milton or even further up (Waterloo/Kitchener) - im going up to Fergus, ON next weekend.

so if someone can bring the dog to NY - then I can go up if you'd like.

Mom and pups are doing wonderful. Pups are getting bigger and eating can food like it is going out of style.

Mom is gaining weight which she needs.

thanks for asking.
