Bye Bye Turquoise the Turtle!

My Niece stopped by yesterday to give me the baby clothes of Ryan's that I had lent her. She left to go to her dog handling class down the road.
Then I rememered my SIL wanted the Turtle for her pond. So Ryan, Hayley & I all bring Turquoise over to them. Ryan was sad, but I told him that Turquoise would be so much happier in a big pond to swim in...instead of the 10 gallon tank we had him in. He finally agreed. Especially since I told him we can go visit Turquoise and that he will be living with fishy friends.
So giving him a better life also with cut our electric bill too 8) No more lights to leave on and filter...etc

Tomorrow we are picking up the Desert Tortoise. So Ryan is very excited about that. So are Billy and I. I really hope Rags is ok with him. If she is it's all good 8)

I think a desert tortise would be cool! I saw the pictures of Darcy's. They get pretty big, so keep them out from under the car. Around here all we have is box turtles, red-eared sliders, and alligator snapping turtles, which get big, but really don't make good pets. 8)

Is it illegal to take the tortises out of the wild? Here in Texas, you used to be able to find all sorts of cool creatures, like horned toads, but they are endangered now, and protected. My wife's uncle had a Galapagos tortise, but how he got that, I'll never know!
Elissa, I just can't keep up with you! Pets that live with you, pets that you rescue, pets that are coming and going - you're a one woman Mother Nature!

Ken, It is illegal to take them from their natural habitat. But this is a captive turtle. He has lived in captivity for quite a long time now. He is 95 years old. I did have to apply for a permit to have it. There are also rescues here that allow you to adopt, but they are VERY picky if you get one from them. Home visit... They don't want them around dogs. He currently lives with a cat, dog, bunny, guinea pig and an iguana. So I am sure he'll be fine here

Turquoise the Turtle we had, was bought for my son by my EVIL sister.
I told her NO AQUATIC TURTLES. She cames back from Petsmart with a Red Eared Slider. All he does is swim in his tank and poop... Not fun at all.
At least with the Tortoise, Ryan can walk around with him and feed him.
He is really fascinated with them. My husband also had a Land Turtle when he was a kid. So he is also very excited. He already has the perfect plans for building a burrow for him :D
The Tortoise is currently living on the coast....nowhere near the Desert, so I am sure he will enjoy coming back to the Desert his native environment.

LOL! I made it clear to Ryan...no more caged animals!!
I just think it's cruel. So...NO FISH, NO BIRDS AND NO RODENTS.
I also hate birds and cannot stand the site of a dead fish and HATE cleaning tanks.

I brought Rags with me last week to see my Grandmother. She said which one is this one. You have a different dog everytime I see you.
I said no Grandma that's Amy (My sister, whose had three dogs this past year, One died of Pneumonia, one hung itself and now she has Bailey a Poodle Terrier mix) I said Grandma, Pepsi has been with us since Dec 2004 and Rags has been with us since February right before Harley died.
And Peanut has been here for 6 1/2 yrs. I think she was just confused because she thinks the Sheepdogs look alike to her (she's almost blind) and she keeps forgetting their names.

BTW... My SIL cannot find Turquoise. Seems he left the pond. That was a couple of days ago... No updates from her.
I bet Turquoise is on the Incredible Journey and finds his way back to your house!!

He thought you need more poop to clean up :D
They cannot live without water. They have to eat in the water because they don't have saliva. There are quite a bit of lakes by my SIL's house.
He might have decided there was something better out there for him.
I hope he's still alive. He might even be in the pond and she just hasn't seen him.
I swear if he shows up back here I guess I would have to keep him.
But is a long journey over a 11,000 ft mountain range. Unless he takes the freeway 8O
Uh oh... How big is the pond, he could be hiding. Or he might have been...

eaten

8O
It's a small Coe pond, around 3 feet deep and about 10 feet long.
He could be hanging out at the bottom. They don't need to come up for air very often. There is nothing in there but fish.
No, I'm pretty sure he's on his way back...
Please don't tell me that!!!

My Niece called me earlier, but didn't leave a message.
I am hoping it's to tell me that she found him.
I called her back but she didn't answer so I am waiting to hear.
