Last Night at the Dog Park

Okay... so I thought I would share with ya all my lovely evening at the park last night..

I get there and no one is there... that's okay.. I thought I will just chill there with Dud and Murphy. As I am getting out of the truck, I see these 3 boys (10-12 yrs/old) at the back of the field on bikes.. just hanging around.. so we go in the field and the next thing ya know the boys are driving towards me.. one has no shirt on..he is holding his shirt in his hand with his arm extended up over his head.. blood running down his arm... he says to me..."Got a plastic bag" and I'm like "why".. he says to put this SNAKE in it.... that just bit me.........he's got a freaking snake wrapped up in his shirt and is taking it home... I said to the boy...

"GET THE *@%# AWAY FROM ME WITH THAT SNAKE.. KEEP ON PEDDLING BOYS....OUT OF THE FIELD"

I.... HATE... SNAKES!!!

Sooooooooo after my heart stops pounding.. I'm sitting there having a coffee.... swatting the flies.. cause I don't have any fly dope....(Colleen has the stolen fly dope in her car (see below))... and up drives this van, out piles this man, wife and two kids..with a KITE.. they decide to come into the field with the kite to fly it. Dudley hates kites... he was barking his head off and I mean BARKING.. I had to put him on his lease.. these people where annoying!!!!! they have the whole field to fly their kite in.. noooooooooooo they have to hang around by me.... Murphy's whining his head off and drooling and Dudley is barking his head off and going nuts.... I was like... "excuse me.. would you mind going down the other end of the dog park to fly your kite?"... the man who I will now refer to as DH (dickhead).. says "the wind is better at this end".. so I let Dudley off his lease.... they left about 2 minutes later.

Still swatting flies...I'm all alone again.. still drinking my coffee, enjoying the night and up drives the KIAL (Know It All Lady ) with Layla... her 9 month female BMD sidebar.. this is the lady that asked me if Dudley was pure BMD.. because he was so big. So for the next 20 minutes...it was blah, blah, blah. her dog is wonderful, yack yack yack, her dog is great, blah blah blah.. "the flies are bad.. her husband lost the fly dope the last time he was here (hehehe see above), yack yack yack....

I had to go.. if I didn't, I would of hunted those boys down with the snake and chocked myself with it!!

how was everyone elses night?

Well, Brenda... you may have had a crappy night at the dog park but you sure made MY day!

Better luck next time!

Nita
LMAO :D That was very funny, but probably not last night!
I got some 24 hour flu-- the nasty throwing up kind. That pretty much took up most of my day. :(
If I had of spend another minutes with the KIAL I would of been throwing up something!!!!!

Seriously, I had the flu a few weeks ago... it wasn't pretty.. I hope you feel better soon.

Elissa, not sure about the full moon thingy.. but I do know there sure are alot of "different people" in the park lately.
My first thought is the kid is smart to keep the snake that bit him in case it was posionous... LOL and my first reaction would have been to see if he was ok or needed a ride to the hospital if it was not a recognizable snake LOL

But on the whole your story was funny... crappy night for sure... took me a sec to figure out what BMD meant (at first I'm thinking big mutt dog?!) then I realized which dog you were talking about and remembered, bernese mountain dog LOL
Do y'all realize, its full moon time?

Explains a lot, eh.
come on stacey keep up!!! :D what a weird night....did that coffee keep you up all night thinking about it??

Yeah yeah... slow moment ok?! LOL

In regards to the coffee... she is Canadian right? I don't think it works that way for us, tim hortons coffee is part of our make up.
There's no way I'd allow a kid with a snake into my car!

I am always blown away by the commuting times in LA area. Afraid I'll have to remain a small time gal.

Are there ANY poisonous snakes in Nova Scotia?

No there aren't... but plenty of people keep snakes as pets, so one could have gotten loose. It has happened here LOL
Even so, the kid might not have known if there were any poisonous ones LOL
I couldn't figure out what a BMD was either!!

Lousey Day!!! You and Elissa should swap stories!!!
Why don't you just tell her her Village was looking for her last night?

Ginny, I did post on here as a response to the question "how was everyone elses night?" .... Ron must have moved it to it's own post.

Funny -- me too! I must have some repressed maternal instincts.

There is a KIAL at my park too. She is always screaching commands at her dogs, who don't listen, and then complaining that no one else is as responsible as she is, but she has given up giving advice (yeah right).

There is no way or nothing in this world that would ever entice me to go anywhere near a snake willingly......even if Travis Tritt was laying nekked eating cookies in my ... well you know where... holding a snake.. I be bashing his head in.... and I lovvvvvvvvve Travis Tritt.

In my parental defence.. I figured, if the kid is still peddling and talking and breathing.. he's okay.. he informed me as he was peddling away... he was taking it home to add to his collection of others that he has caught...

I am trying to be more tolerant of people.... it's hard... I may crack soon.

Colleen (my friend with the good stolen fly dope) and I went to the park tonight... it was peacful.. no snakes, no kites, no flies and no KIAL... we sat there sipping our coffee and enjoyed the night.

I LOVE snakes. They are so misunderstood.

Actually I like all reptiles. At one time I wanted an iguana for a pet. My husband cannot stand reptiles or rodents, but he humoured me enough to go see one that someone was re-homing.

This couple had it since it was an 8 inch baby, and it was 4 years old and 4 feet long, mostly tail. The young lady handled it and showed us how to hold it and I was patting it etc. Then she put it on the floor to show us how quick it ran and her husband jumped right up onto the couch.....along with my husband. We had a good laugh, and Don decided that if that man was still skittish of it after 4 years of raising it, then he would never be able to adjust. sigh.
I'd touch the snake before I touched the kid.
Lol You guys are hilarious!! Nyuck Nyuck!

That was my first thoughts too..smart kid kept the snake so the doctor would know what anti-venom to give him if he needed it.

As for the other stuff...maybe in the world of karma..you're next time at the dog park will be amazing!! Lets hope so!

Marianne and the boys
I'm just getting caught up here, but that was a great story! I must admit, I had the same reaction about the kid with the snake - smart boy. I don't mind snakes nearly so much as the KIAL and the Kite People. :D
"Fly Dope" - is that some kinda special bug-a-boo?

Thanks for sharing a funny story. Sorry that those crazy peope irritated you. :-(
