That is awful...awful awful awful....there has to be something we can do..auctioning off animals.....what jerks
Oh no! That's horrible!!
So far there has been 4 -TV stations that have called ,and is all over the paper here in Missouri. My Maltese came from a puppy mill and he passed away this Easter from kidney failer. I had one reply saying that dog auctions are important- Reply is =[It's nice of you to care so much but breeding dogs and selling them isn't illegal. Puppy millers and backyard breeders are not breaking the law by creating more puppies and putting a price tag on them.] from petfinders.com. I'm so mad, I can spit nails. This person needs to see how these dogs are treated. I even sent pictures and then I get this reply from the person.. I will be replying to the persons message but with sad and true auction pictures. I have looked all over the net to try and find Missoui laws about pets, and no luck. I will not stop looking. Thank You all for caring and GBU Mrs T
I have a lawyer friend on it. Hopefully he will be able to dig up something on Missouri law by tomorrow.

While we all want to help, stop and think: these auctions are a money raising effort for puppy mills. The best way to stop them is to end their market....people purchasing their product. It just makes me so darn SAD (not to help the pups) and MAD (that these puppy mills continue to operate.)

I wouldn't mind getting inside the mind of someone who actually goes to these auctions and see why exactly they choose to buy animals there, and what exactly that animal's purpose to them is. It makes no sense to me....if you have a decent heart....seeing those dogs has to upset you, right? The whole idea makes me sad and breaks my heart....when they do news documentaries on puppy mills I can't even watch...

Go to the article Kennel Award stirs debate (what a joke) CALL and tell them what you think

This is a newpaper article I found on this. Actually this place is only about 4 hours away. I wonder if I took the trip and took lots of pictures and turned Illinois on to this type of place if it would make a difference.

Let me know what you think. Also I called the newpaper number which is on the article and let them know I think it is very very wrong.
This is my first reply to the legal issue:

"Anything that is unsafe or dangerous to health of the pups can be closed
down...but no specific guidelines to our knowledge--you could also check
with the state attorney general's office."

Pictures speak 1,000 words....I'm going to go check out that site.
It seems to me the only thing that the Blue Ribbon status means is that the kennel is supplying humane storage of the animals, it doesn't address issues like heredity health and socialization.

Perhaps it's a step in the right direction, but it may not go far enough.

It is time to congratulate MO on taking this first step and urge them to continue forward. If they are attacked for making small positive steps they will have no incentive to move onto more difficult steps.

I sent an email as well and I wish many more would. Just look at the shape of the dog he is holding. Not groomed. Holding him has nothing to do with LOVE. To this guy, it is all money. Mrs T

ok I am going to hell. I called the number for the kennel and asked what type of dogs they would be auctioning. He sent me to the auction site.

http://www.onlinepetauction.com/ while I was on the phone I took a look then asked if they had any large dogs since they only have small ones on this site.

She said they have never had a dog larger than a boxer on their premise but does know other breeders that may have OES, Great Dane or Irish Wolf hound. I told her I was very interested in any of those breeds and gave her my cell number. That should give us some leads on the puppy mill breeders just lie and be nice amazing how much information you can get
How did you get threw?? I have called 3 times and had to leave message and no reply yet. You are good!!! I can't even get to web site that shopws the dogs. I been trying to get in touch with CNN and can't. Also trying miss oprah sence she is a dog lover. I sure wish I could get in touch with the owner of Petfinders cause it is their 10 yr reunion. I saw the lady on TV. I must tell you, I,m not a computer person and hate them. It is my fault because I really dont use it enough. My phone bill is going to knock my hubby over-board.. Great that he loves animals. Mrs T
A very sweeting talking lady answered. She said she would talk to her hubby this afternoon and find out the breeders names and numbers for me. I am just wondering if they are going to come up with a dog for me that would be interesting like an order line.

I also have placed a call to my daughters best friend. She is in Marketing and knows a lot of connections here in Chicago. Maybe she can get us the direct lines to Opera The web site for the auction is on the last posting I sent. But here is the listing of dogs they will have.

If y ou want me to call you tonight here is my private e-mail address. (click e-mail button below) e-mail me and I will send you my telephone number and you can give me yours.

Are you close to where the Auction will be?
DT,
I talked with a shelter here and they said it was ok, but I talked with another and ythey said it is animal qurlity. I sent puppy mill rescue an email with it all as well, this morning. http://www.maal.org/Contact.asp
http://www.maal.org/Puppy-Mills.asp
I called them and left message as well. Mrs T
Im like 4 hr drive from this auction. Im off interstate 70 in St Charles County Mo.
Im six hour away and know if I take the hike I will be bringing home dogs and I have four already.
Agree.,, I'm so mad over this. My heart won,t stop fighting with my mind. I have 2 dogs and 1 big bird and still looking for maltese because my baby died on us Easter at age 13 from kidney failer. Thank You for all the help and time and caring. Mrs Taylor
I had a Maltese too she died at 19 yrs old. She and my Saint Bernard were best buddies. She would sleep on the St's tail.

I have four dogs two cats 1 macaw, 2 lizards, 1 horse a bunny and a snake Plus twins that are 17. A daughter that moved home with a two year old her hubby is in Iraq I know nothing else will fit in my house

I would think any money this mill receives from this auction will only create another mill to open profit is their only objective.
This is such a vicious cycle  Not to buy the dogs would take the profit out of it, but if the dogs will be destroyed if they don't sell is horrible to think about.
This is so terribly sad. It needs to be brought to our attention..but so hard to believe how cruel people can be when it comes to money.

Those poor dogs, my heart is breaking for them.

Marianne and the boys
Guys. This is what is happening in Canada. You need to go to local government and not suggest that they shut down breeders but regulate because you will not win. You need to start small to go big. In our township you can only breed 25 dogs, the kennel is inspected yearly, no crates only nice runs allowed(put a size on them) ie. 4 x 10. Dogs must be vet inspected and given yearly shots each year. If in cold climate, must be heated, in hot climate, need air conditioning. Band together and start one area at a time. You will not win if you go too big, too fast. For now get as many people as you can to go to the auctions and buy the dogs up or they will end up in new puppy mills. If you get stricked regulations, only the serious, good breeders will stay in business.

I'll give you an answer to get in the mind of people going to these auctions.
I plan on going to at least see for my self what is really up.If I like I will buy one or two.
Why??!!!! you ask well I am tired of show breeders sitting up on their high horse judging you like god if you are worthy of one of their cast off pups that will not make it to the show ring.
Tired of regular home breeders not knowing #### about coats and the health of their dog.
I am talking about yorkies.
I have 5 I am selling because they are not what I wanted.
I want a silk coated one and now I know what to look for.
people say why not buy from a shelter?
I don't want a shelter mutt. and the ones that nobody else wanted.
how can you stop it???

all breeders hsould be required to take classes on their chosen breed all the ins and outs on health and desirable traits before being allwoed to breed so they can properly inform new buyers. and not wind up surprise that the silk coated yorkie they bought from a show breeder for big bucks is a cotton coat long bodied misfit.
I say its ok if thats what you want but if you are specifically looking for something it should not be misrepresented. and yes show breeders do it to.
I don't give a crap about size I care about health and that the dog is balanced and has the correct silk coat. not some breeder thinking I don't know #### from shampoo selling me any thing.
Yes I am a little bitter because I did everything I was supposed to do and still got stuck. and my cousin bought a dog from a known miller and the damn dog is gorgeous freaking gorgeous and healthy as a horse. he is 2 now and not a peep of a problem and he has been health tested.blood, urine, hips, knees, and a host of other tests. so I will try my luck again and see is I can get the love of my life.
as for the ones I am selling I will try my best to put them in a good home and not misrepresent them in any way so the buyer is totally aware of what the dog is or isn't.
maybe I won't find anything maybe they are sickly like is being said and treated horribly but I want to see for myself.
Be sure to let us know.
