Did anyone go see the Tim Allen remake of The Shaggy Dog?

Forgive me if this has already been covered in another forum, but I'm still new here, and haven't read everything there is.

Did anyone go see the Tim Allen remake of The Shaggy Dog? I couldn't bear to. I love Tim Allen, but I don't think that movie remake would be the same with an OES! To me that's like remaking The Love Bug with a PT Cruiser!

I expressed these feelings on the Shaggy Dog forum on a movie posts site, but they all loved Bearded Collies, so I never found an ear. What do you all think? (I bet I can guess!) Has anyone seen it?

I only heard terrible reviews of it, so I didn't bother to see it. 8)
I might rent it from Netflix, but my heart isn't in it. It was a silly story in the 50's, now it just doesn't play to today's kids.
No haven't seen it yet. I might rent it when it comes out on dvd. Just to pick it apart, but the kids might like it...since to them it is just a dog.
I'll wait until it comes on Cable.
The dog was supposed to be a fictional breed known as a Bratislavian Sheepdog so they could have used any dog.
But I definitely think an OES looks better in clothes than a Beardie....no tail :D

The reviews were horrible, I heard the plot itself lacked anything original.....It's coming out on DVD next Tuesday, and I would like to rent and see it just for fun. I do love Tim Allen....

I agree about them using an OES!

The PT cruiser comment was funny!! hahaha!
Hmm...if it comes out next Tuesday, we have the Blockbuster Moviepass, so it won't cost anything over our usual monthly fee to see it. I'll probably pick it up for the kids. I haven't seen the original in YEARS though, I don't really remember it. Maybe I should pick it up too? :)
I rented it this morning, but I haven't watched it yet. It was my plan for tonight, but Jason took it into work with him to watch it.
I still haven't seen it either... but I'll just wait til it comes out on The Movie Network. They usually have new releases only a few weeks after being released onto dvd now so it hardly seems worth renting.

What were they thinking? 8O I saw a small clip at the
grocery store, the Bearded Collie is cute, but its just not
the same without the OES spirit and clownlike quality.
Just watched it, wasn't that great! It was a cutesy kids movie, and maybe it's because I'm not feeling well today, but I thought it was only a mediocre movie.
Sigh... Well, hopefully it'll come on tv soon. All the little kids tell me how they saw my dog on the Shaggy Dog movie. I tell them it's not the same breed, and they call me a liar. Go figure. So I should at least see the kind of impression Yuki is leaving on them.

There really wasn't THAT much Shaggy in the movie. When the dog was in the movie, he was either running, barking, or caged up.
Brother-in-Law rented this tonite for us to watch. It was OK, I guess, but found it a bit boring...Tim Allen was OK, but not as Tim Allen as I usually like to see him.

I liked the dog. His "acting" was great.....you could hardly tell he was taking orders at all.

Not really a good watch for adults, though. Husband Don fell asleep during the movie, as usual.

Kids would enjoy it, though.
I didn't bother watching this movie because everyone on here kept saying it was bad (on not just this thread), but felt bad that it's been sitting on my shelf for about 9 months.

I TOTALLY don't understand the bad reviews! I LOVED IT!! :hearts:

I had a huge smile on my face the entire movie. Shaggy was in 90% of the scenes, and I got the impression he wasn't going to be.

Tim Allen was SUPER! Shaggy won my heart. Those eyes made me hug Yuki super tight. Even lil J who can barely sit through 20 min. of Wiggles (his favorite) sat through at least 30 minutes of this just laughing at the dogs and the other animals!

Anyway, so glad we own it!!! Two thumbs up for super cuteness!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
It was a pretty funny movie but I loved the original better because it had an OES -- I wonder why they went with a bearded collie this time?????
