He has been pooping normal - It seems to bother him because he's all hyper and uncomfortable and would bite it. Do you know any remedies or cause of this? I plan to take him to the vet on Monday if it doesnt get better (vet's closed for the weekend). |

| I have no idea but I'd get the vet to check it out.... |
| I haven't tried it but some people I know swear by a little Listerine applied to a sore dog butt. Apparently, the antiseptic qualities are cleansing and refreshing. |

hmmm not a bad idea. Thanks:) |
| Wonder if you mean Witch Hazel?
Listerine has alcohol in it and will burn. |
| Try a little aloe vera gel, it should have a cooling effect and it won't hurt him if he licks it. |
| How about Balmex? (diaper rash ointment) Nelson had a rash on his chin from constantly being in the water bowl. Seemed to clear it up quickly. |

Listerine has alcohol in it and will burn. Nope, I meant Listerine. I haven't tried it but I know someone who swears by it. |
| Maybe i'll try the Balmex on Pepsi. His butt is also raw. I also know he can't reach his butt to lick it. Too fat!! |
| Poor London!
I know all about having dogs that are not well It is hard, because he is thinyou don't want to hold food back, yet it would be nice to give his back-end a break..... What kind of anticeptic could you use? I'm thinking of a saline solution of some sort, or something soothing like that, to clean and sanitize, but not burn. We used that when Dixie had her sores, and mixed a solution of 1 teaspoon to a cup of warm water. Dixie send her kisses, and Bosley is not up to a bear hug, but sends his sympathies! Hey, are you guys going to go to the picnic in Michigan? The pooches would LOVE to see London again! And Don and I would enjoy seeing you guys, too! |
| My vet recommended diaper rash cream. |
| I recommend Bag Balm. I know it was developed for cows, but I've used it on all animals and myself (for chapped hands) and it works great. |
| My dog had the same problems. I tried diaper rash ointment, hydrocortisone cream, antibiotic ointment and various other combinations. Nothing was working, so I researched on the internet and read about Sulfodene for "hot spots." I started using it yesterday, and today there is already a noticable improvement. You can buy it at Wal-mart for less than $4 a bottle in the pet section. |
| Diaper/nappy rash cream works, or the nappy rash powder, but best too for the vet to check it out as well. |
| If you use the listerine, let us know how many finger you still have. That is going to hurt. |
| My oes mix had the same thing and he had an anal gland infection. I would check with the vet. keep us updated. Good luck |
