My tea party pics

OK,

So this isn't about cooking, except in as much as it is showing off all the cooking I did!!!! I know some of you were curious!!! Note that all the pics are during the shower, so the food is already "in use"

Image
Here is the main food table! Note the fingersandwiches are in the shapes of teapots and teacups? Yep, that's right I'm crazy!! The cucumber ones went really fast, but I preferred the watercress myself!

Image
This is the "tea table" we served lemon, peach and earl grey teas, along with coffee and punch. No one left dehydrated from the shower ;) We did have dale's future sister in law sneak in diet coke (HOW TACKY!!!) but I don't think she ended up drinking any of it.

Image
Here's everyone's favorite! The deserts!!! We served regular and currant scones, butter mints (In the shape of teapots and cups), petit fors, poppy seed cake, accompaniefd by 3 kinds of jam, lemon curd, honey butter and devonshire cream (phew)

Image
these were my pride and also the bane of my existance- the petit fors... They were ridiculously hard, the icing didn't go on very smoothly, they were lumpy, they were suposed to have sugared violets on them (Which flopped after 2 days of setting) and yet...

They tasted so good! And I put SO MUCH work into them!

Thank heavens it is over... I don't think I'll do that agin for a while!

WOW... I am very impressed! What a beautiful presentation.
Everything looks so good. Now I'm hungry :(
Wow is right... I'm impressed too.... it all looks great! :)
I'm impressed too! Yummy yummy!
wow..you can bake for me any day!
wow Karen! that looks great! So impressed. So much food--how did you end up making the mints?
I ended up spraying the mint mold with mazola pure spray and pried them out VERY CAREFULLY! It was a ton of work and those were definitely hard candy mold, not mint molds!!

And then dummy me, I put the mold in the dishwasher and wrecked it!
I love being the hostess and planning these parties, but I get so stressed and make everything so perfect it drives hubby insane.

I need to either do it more often or only once a year.

I love the little sandwiches...did you use a cookie cutter to make shapes. I would have done triangles. Very creative nonetheless...I want some tea now. LOL
Anybody who would consider, let alone make, petite fors is one very courageous woman!!! They look fine and I'm sure tasted great! At least people knew they weren't filled with weird preservatives. Congratulations and worry about the candy mold.

Karen !! It all looks so lovely!! I'm very impressed! as I'm sure your guests were, as well. What FUN!! Although, as you said, thank goodness it's over! :D

I'm with Susan, I can't believe you actually made petite fors. Wow. You are courageous. 8)

I've never made mints and didn't realize the molds are different than candy molds. Curious. :?
Thanks for all the complements guys! It was so much work, but well worth it in the end!

Next time I'm definitely going with flexible molds fore mints... Note to NYONE who ewnats to make mints for a graduation or wedding or shower- USE FLEXIBLE MOLDS!!!!! They're a pain in the rear end to try to remove from the rigid molds. Oh yeah, and don;'t stick your candy mold in the dishwasher

Yes, I did use larger sized cookie cutters on the finger sandwiches. I pretty much only got 1 shape per piece of bread, so it wasn't real efficient (We fed the leftovers to the local ducks) but very fun!
WOW Karen! 8O Your tea party was beautiful! I love the tea sandwiches in the teapot and teacup shapes. I need to find those cookie cutters before my next party!
Impressive. How lucky to have a friend like you.
