Forgotten how to tell us he has to go to the bathroom?

It's almost like Duke's forgotten how to tell he has to go the bathroom.

Last weekend he was sick and had a few accidents in the house. My husband and I figured it was either because we inadvertantly bought the wrong dog food for him and it was a combination of switching it without knowing or that he might have a lamb intolerance, or that the food had been in the warm back room and got spoiled.

Since then we've put him on rice to help his stools and they're back to normal, he's been eating his dog food like regular, but he can't seem to get out the door in time. He'll come and ask to be let out but as I'm opening the sliding door for him, he's going on the carpet in the pet room. It's like he doesn't seem to realize he has to go any sooner than that.

If he's still sick I can understand, but I want to help him so he can make it outside. I'm not sure what the solution is, other than to put him on a schedule for going out. He doesn't have this problem when he has to urinate.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I think Duke needs to see the Vet. If he still has loose stool, you can try Amodiam AD, but if his stool is normal, I'd have him checked out.

Good luck and tell Duke to feel better soon!
