German Shepherd outside in rain

Ahhhh - I live in a townhome, and the neighbors (I don't know them) across the backyard from me have a German Shephard. He has been locked out in his yard all afternoon/evening and it is pouring down rain. As far as I can see he doesn't have any shelter, and he's been barking constantly to get in. When it was still light outside I could see him pacing his windows - he wants to go inside! As far as I can tell his owners aren't home, and there isn't a gate on his fence. I feel soooo bad for him. :(

Horrible! (I might be crazy to suggest this but) can you let him in? Does he seem like a nice dog? Even being shut in a bathroom seems better than being out alone in the rain.
You're not crazy!! I thought about this, too, but there isn't a way for me to get in. The fence is connected to the sides of the house and there isn't a gate. I think I'm going to make myself available to the owners sometime this weekend - meet them, etc. to see if there is a way I can help their dog out if they're gone! I don't know if they'll go for it, but it was really sad to hear him barking for so many hours. Frustrating not to be able to help!
Poor doggie! How sad that they left him out in the rain :(
That is not right at all.
I bet! Poor doggie! You are so nice to do that.
Grrrr...I hate hearing that
Poor dog. Luckily it's not cold, but it's still miserable to be out in the rain.
Sorry for your frustrations- we dealt with something very similiar- UNTIL we met the neighbor... I told them I was home during the days, and we are usually around on the weekends. She gave me a key and expressed sincere thanks for offering to let Harley inside anytime the weather turns bad... since then, I do not feel bad for Harley anymore, as we go on our little "missions" to let her in.... and, our neighbor turned out to be really nice and a great friendship has blossomed...

Good luck!!!
YAY! I just went and met the owner. She is a really nice lady who introduced me to her dog and actually invited me in for a bit! He has a wonderful doghouse that I couldn't see from my window (I actually kindof want one like this - it has shingles and everything)! Now I think I have a new friend in the neighborhood and I feel great about the care the dog is receiving - lots of love and attention. Maybe he'll be a playmate when we get our pup! Thanks for shouting out encouragement to me everyone! :D I love happy endings!
So I guess we just chalk that one up to dumb dog for standing in the rain. lol
Our German Shepherd was pretty dopey too.
