Creeping out of the woodwork to say hullo

I've been real busy since I moved recently. Just wanted to post and say hullo. I saw the thread about Marianne missing, so I wanted to check in. :-)

Duds and I had a good time at the Philly Picnic hanging out with our Forum friends and giving rides in his cart. I'm lost in threads on here and am looking for commentary on the picnic, etc.

I spent the past week in Bermuda. There are photos online of the trip at: http://www.geocities.com/cmburke7/photos/bermuda2006/
It was a rather drama-filled trip. I was sick most of the week and tried to have a good time in spite of it.

Some friends of mine got married there and they wanted a small wedding, so I went with my ex boyfriend. We'd gone there twice previously together with the couple that got married. My mum helped me pick out a dress for the wedding, and it wound up being this hideous pink thing. (I don't usually do pink) It was a good colour for the location, but it's a weird dress. I have to wear it to 3 other weddings this summer, and would appreciate some suggestions as to what to wear under it. It has a halter top and a very low back. I had something that sorta worked but wasn't all that comfortable. (there is a photo of me in it when you go to the website with the photos)

Returning to the States, someone grabbed one of my bags off the carousel instead of their own (didn't check the tag) :x, so I had to have the airline call them and make them bring it back. It wasn't too long of a wait, and nothing was missing from my bag. (remember to check your tags when you travel!!)

I was happy to come home and get Duds back from the kennel where he was staying. I picked him up yesterday, and he didn't let me out of his sight all evening.

The new apartment is very nice, except for the lack of yard. Yesterday morning, I twisted my ankle leaving my friend's house to go get Duds, and I'm sort of gimping along when we go for walks. I am putting on his gentle leader so he doesn't yank me off my feet.

So that's pretty much everything that's interesting here. I met a nice man at the wedding who seems to be nicely dateable, though he lives sort of far and I'm not sure he's interested in me. ;-) He was the best man, and we hung out quite a bit when the other guys went out golfing. I'll see him again at the "Mainland Reception" at the end of the month. I don't meet too many men that go in the "nicely dateable" catagory these days. They certainly don't seem to hang out at the dog park!

Katie,
Sounds like you had a nice trip despite being sick. Sounds like you also had a good time with the Best Man. Hopefully he will still be single when you meet up again. You could always call him.

Sorry I am not very good with fashion...so me giving advice wouldn't be too smart.
HAHA :twitch: That's is funny, going to Bermuda with an ex then meeting a guy to date!!!! Talk about ....i don't know what word would aply...ironic, no....weird, no..... :bulb: unusual!!!! That's it, unusual. Heck i don't even think i am spelling that right, so much for 10,000 $ worth of education

Hmm, I could do that if I had his number. ;-) I emailed him some photos, and he sent one back, etc - we'll see how it goes.

~K. :-)
I remember last year when you posted pictures from your trip. They were lovely too! I'm glad you were able to make the best of it even though you weren't feeling well. It stinks to get sick on your vacation.

What a beautiful setting for a wedding. The bride was lovely. I think all brides lovely. :D

Your dress is nice. What don't you like about it?

Which one of those guys was the best man?
Gorgeous pics, I'm so jealous!!!!

The dress is so pretty and fun! Very appropriate for an island or summer wedding!

So for "under it" do you mean just for modesty issues (although it seems fine that way from the pic) or did you want something with longer sleeves etc...

Here are a few ideas from my wardrobe

I wear pretty ivory or white lace camisoles under my dresses and suits that are a little lower then what I'm confortable with. Usually a linen fabric works great and will help keep you cool. I also have an all in one knee length cami/slip combo that I love for lighter weight dresses where the fabric is less opaque, so modesty is an issue... If you want something to cover you arms, I would try buying a wrap, rather then trying to put anything else under the dress. Skirt length looks fine, it doesn't SEEM like it needs a slip or anything...

does that help at all???
Great pictures!! I like the dress! Very pretty, feminine and summery. So is the gent in the pics the Ex or the Best Man?
Or wait, did you mean lingerie to wear under the dress???

I get confused soooo easily!
I love the dress, I'm a big pink fan. Is the standard halter bra not working?

Heehee - yeah, I know it sounds weird. I've been to Bermuda 6 times, all with Cody. Two of those times I was seeing other men, too - these wern't romantic expeditions, mind you. ;-)

The tall skinny one without glasses is the best man, Chris. The tall man with Bermuda shorts is Cody (my ex). The shortest man with the curly hair and glasses is Rob, the groom. There is one in there where Chris and Rob are standing with an older gentleman with grey hair - that is the father of the bride. Can't remember his name, though - but he liked golfing.

Yes, that's what I meant. I don't have a standard halter-top bra, so I wore a strapless "suck 'em up" under the dress. It is a bra and slip combo that is tight fitting and takes about half an inch off your waist-line. My friend's mum calls that stuff "high-tech underwear".

The problem I was having is that the top of the middle of the bra part kept riding up in the front and sticking out of the lining of the dress, you can't really see it in the pictures, although I felt like it was noticable at close-range. It also left lines where the top of the strapless bra stopped.

I was looking for one of those halter-top bras before I left, but didn't find one in time...

I'm glad there are lots of ladies here to give advice. ;-)
Thanks for your help and suggestions.

Thank you. :-) I think it was mostly the underwear situation that I didn't like.

The fabric is real nice - it has a silky lining, and the outside is almost like a gauze cotton.

It might if I could find one to try. Any ideas? :?:
I used to have a halter-top bra with a low-back that sort of criss-crossed around the torso. I have no idea where it went or where I got it. That bra would work if I could find another one like it.

~Katie.
Ah hah! Well if you're having real problems, you could try buy the stick on cups, but they're pretty uncomfortable. I have a halter dress with a low back, and they work well, but the sticky stuff stuck to ME afterwards! ouch... Plus they made a funny whooshing sound anytime the fabric brushed them

I'd try looking at like a TJMAXX or Marshals kinda thing for a good halter bra... I'm not sure if you have those there? It's basically a store that buys out the department store's overstocks and out of season clothing. They have the same nice quality brands, but cost much less... that's where I buy all my bras, when I'm not going to the victoria secret semi annual sales... You could also try a merry widow, which are much prettier then a suck it in slip but be prepared to sit up straight all night long.. they're VERY good for the posture! I've never had good luck with the plain strapless bras, mine always end up around my stomach halfway through the event...
Katie,
Victoria's Secret has a new bra out called the Invisible Edge Convertible bra. It criss crosses in the back and has invisble (clear straps) that can be worn in a variety of different ways. I paid $51 for mine and would do it again in an instant.

OOOo - good idea. 8) I'm gonna check this out. I like VS, and they have blessed me with a VS credit card recently. Is it on their website or just in the store?
You can view it on the website and in store. With the regular straps that also come with it you can use it for everyday use too.
Sorry, I forgot to say it is part of the Very Sexy collection.
You could try duct tape 8O :D 8O
Not very flattering now is it Ginny?
I could not even imagine trying to get the tape off. OUCH!!!

Actually, I did! We went to the dollar store in Bermuda where things cost $2 and bought a roll of duct tape. And the boobs still flopped...badly :-( Maybe I did it wrong.

It was ouchie taking the stuff off...
Staples? Twine? He he he.....
That sounds like a great idea E, I'm thinking of sneaky over to Vickies to take a peek... I have a wedding coming up myself in a few weeks. And those stick on bras might as well BE duct tape!!! Ouch...

I actually bought it to wear with a dress I had bought for a wedding a couple of weeks ago.
Turns out I am getting a lot more use than I thought I would.
Worns great for wearing tank tops too. Also it's comfortable and provides great support.

Josh, lol You sound like Ron now.
Hi Katie,

Shall I bring some more duct tape to the picnic?

HAH.... NO! :P
I won't be at the NEOER picnic with Duds this summer because I'll be at a wedding....in Delaware (Dover)...wearing the pink dress...again. I'll post some photos from the wedding and we can investigate if the new plan is any better than the old one.

~K.
Oh my goodness...y'all are so funny. :yay:

Katie - the VS bra is most likely just what you need. The dress itself is lovely. I like the way it's made and the fabric because it hangs well and looks like it would be cool.
Love the dress!! No wonder the best man picked you up!

Nice meeting you at the PHilly Picnic.
Looks like a beautiful place. Great pics! Good luck with the guy :)
