Oh my! What a bowl full of fun! First of all, good chance you'll have a "puppy" for well over a year. Labs are slow to mature, life is a game! And for sheepies.......Let's go play with the labs, they are great fun! So hope you are up for some high energy dog.

Size.......greatly depends on parents. Labs can be smaller than sheepies or much larger. So ball park, 65-85 lbs and maybe larger. Doubtful though.

As for the coat, who knows. Could be hairy like a sheepdog, could be medium short and coarse. Appearance.........could look a bit like Harry, my avatar right side dog.

But no matter, you'll have a dog who loves to play and a retriever who takes forever to wind down. Hide the shoes, toilet paper, rugs, etc and have plenty of toys on hand.
Wow - what color was the lab? You will have a very loving dog with two loving breeds like this mixed - also energetic! Good luck and can't wait to see pics!
thank you for giving me advice. i am already having to hind everything in sight, she is into everything, and very nosey, she is very playful though, do you have any advice on grooming her? i am kinda of new to the dog world always had cats. her hair is med lenght and curly
her dad the lab was black and her mom the oes was black and white i have pics posted but i have to wait for them to be approved.. Dutchess is black and white
We have another member of the forum with the same mix. Do a search for Pooh or Josh and you should find a lot of stuff.
well thank you i did a search for pooh and found him he is very beautiful

Her name is Dutchess, she is 8 wks old and full of energy, She is sooo cute and I am very excited to have her, she is oes/lab mixed. I don't know very much about her type of breed but I am learning everyday, Thanks to all the wonderful advice I have been receiving. So I am asking for all the information I can get on her type of breed? I will keep an update on her from puppy hood to adult. She is learning how to sit and stay, house breaking her is a breeze and she loves to get a bath!!
She sure is cute.

They will have lots of energy, and will be destrcutive if they get bored. Play lots and gets lots of walks to curb the energy. She will need lots and lots of socialization. Take her to a puppy obedience class, you will learn lots esp if this is your first dog. She will need to introduced to all different people, animals, sounds, so she will adapt and be friendly to everyone.

Get her use to grooming, start brushing her, hold her feet, tail...get as much puppy massage done as you can. Grooming can take a long time, so you want her to be use to it, and then if you use a professional groomer they will have a better experience.

Take her through pets stores, get her use to crowds of people. Get her use to being alone too, put her in a crate/kennel and leave her and do something around the house. Go about daily life with her in a kennel, so she is used to it.

When you leave the house don't say good bye, and fuss over her...just leave, maybe leave a stuffed KONG behind for her to chew on. When you come home, ignore her for a few minutes, let her out of the kennel ...be subdued, take her to pee outside,...then fuss her all up, give treats, play etc...now is the time to be excited. Otherwise you will develop spearation anxiety, or excitement urination when you leave or come home. Keep it boring, and they won't care you left, and will hold it when you are lettting them out....instead of piddling on the floor.

Congratulations, and good luck.
Welcome to the forum! Duchess is adorable and sure to get into trouble and also be a lot of fun! There are a bunch of us on the forum with new sheepdog puppies. My Fozzie is now almost 4 months old and has been a busy body!
Congratulations on your new addition- what a beautiful mix!!! Enjoy- with both the lab and OES personalities, you are in for loads of fun!!!! ENJOY!! :D
Dear Lisa:

I had a lab/oes mix named Teddy for 14 years! He was the most intelligent and well behaved dog I've ever had. He was very hyper, though. But I will always have very fond memories of that dog. Like when he used to get a drink outside by squeezing the milk jugs filled with water, that held the pool cover down on a string! He looked just like a sheepdog with the black and white in all the correct places, but with a tail and slightly smaller build. I adopted him from a neighbor.

Enjoy your cross--Blue Star's Mom
i just want to thank everyone for all the wonderful replies. Dutchess is doing wonderful. she has just about mastered the art of sitting when you tell her sit. I have two cats and he harrasses them all day.lol she is a great dog and i love her to death, wouldnt trade her for the world. she goes for her first vet visit tomorrow. Lets see how that goes.

She's a beauty!!

Welcome to the forum! :D
OMG what a cutie!

Hi Lisa, I am Josh, owned by Pooh Bear. Your Dutchess looks more OES than Lab, so you are in for a real treat coat wise! As entioned, it really is hard to say how big she'll get. At 1yr 10 mths, Pooh is now 75 pounds, giver 'er take an ounce. He is super smart, playful and loving.

Get her used to the brush now - it's much easier to keep up on if they allow you to do it. Again, with a mixed breed, it's tough to say what they will turn out like, but I will say this. All of the dogs I have ever owned all had amazing dispositions - LOVE your dog. Roll around with her on the floor, cuddle with her, give her kisses on the head and lots of hugs and in return, she will love you back. I am assuming you adopted her - thank you for adopting a mixed breed!!!!!!!
Hi Josh,

I must say Zachary has some pretty big eyes there...how did ever get that picture it is hilarious. Is there an update soon?

I love the avatar, just to cute.
yes i adopted her from my local pound. she is very smart, she sleeps at my feet, and follows me everywhere. i let her on the bed with me and she plays for a while then wants in the floor to sleep. i am going to post new pictures of her shortly. she is growing like a weed. thank you everyone for your kind words.
