Baily's boo-boo's

I'm almost afraid to post this. My pup is embarassing me.

My kitchen and family room are one. For the last month Baily (16 weeks) has been confined to the area with gates and she has been doing fine as far as the housebreaking is concerned. Some accidents (and intentionals) here and there.

For the last 2 days in a row, she has pooed on my couch!

We even have the cushions up on the couch when we are not there so that she stayed off of it but somehow she manages to position herself to do her business.

Today my son had her outside for about 10 minutes. He left her for 15 and came back to that. I hate to crate her every time we are out of the room but this can't be something going on.

What is she trying to tell us? Is she mad if she is left for a few minutes, She never was before.

Any ideas gratefully accepted

Lorraine I am not sure if I can help you much but to tell you Drake has this thing about going on our carpet in the basement. Sometimes he will go on the carpet even when I know he should not have to go. Not a BM but just pee. I am not sure how old your son is but I have learned not to trust my sons to take Drake to do his job because it turns into a play thing and he never gets his job done. If I think Drake needs to go out to the bathroom I take him out without the kids. If Drake needs some play time I send the kids out with him. Drake is getting better and I am having fewer accidents inside it is just the carpet thing that is driving me nuts. 8)
Lorraine....
That sounds a bit familiar......when Pisco was a pup...he once did that to me (on the living room carpet)-he is free all around the house...but I realized he did it because he was mad I had left him alone for a while...but he didin`t do it while I was away....he waited until I came home to do it....and not once but 3 times on the same night and the same spot!!...and the little rascal came to wake me up all the 3 times, made me get out of bed and showed me where he had done it!!!....I can tell you he had a Time Out for that....but that was the only time he did it...
Dancer is 16 weeks as well, and is pretty much housetrained, she will hold it all night, and will hold it about 4 hours in the day now instead of every 5 minutes, lol, but she will also pee or poop in a particular spot if she sees both my husband an I getting ready for work at the same time. She will try to take and hide our shoes, steal my hubby's tie, and when I take her out just before we have to leave for work she'll hold it till we come back in and I tell her to have a good day... then she'll do it right at the front door, almost as if she is delaying my leaving because she knows it will take a few minutes to clean. I know she'll grow out of it and I don't want to cause separation anxiety issues so I don't say a word about it, I just clean it up and go to work, and give her lots of praise when she DOESN'T do it... an extra treat perhaps when she pees outside knowing that we have to go to work.
I am soooo glad to hear somebody else is having this problem!! We have removed all water from Zoe at night, including closing the lid on the toilet; we take her outside, she does her thing, and she still pees by the front door at night. I have tried the so-called "no" sprays that are supposed to deter them from peeing in that area, I have tried bleach to remove any scent, I have tried ammonia to deter her from there, nothing works. It`s the only area of the house where she does this. We never use the front door, so it`s not that it`s the familiar "outside door". Thank God that area is tiled. We have a baby gate to keep her out of the living room at night. I think she just likes to watch me mop!!:)
