Shopping help online-I need tetsubin tea ceremony utensils!

Ok you guys!

Dale, my sisters best friend gets married in June 9that's who I thre the shower for0. she is 1/2 japanese, and loves tea, so we want to get her a really nice japanese tea ceremony set. I've already found a gorgeous tetsubin pot and cups (traditional japanese teapot). Now I need to find the utensils that go along with the pot for the tea ceremony. The pot and cups is costing me over $115.00, Christina is chipping in but we can't aford to spend gads and gads of $$. We basically need the following:

The green tea
A bamboo whisk
A (matchu I think it's called?) bowl to put the tea in
A bamboo tea spoon
A bamboo water ladle

Those are the main utensils as far as i can tell that you would use. can anyone give me some tips, sites etc for finding nice quality items for not tons of money??? If anyone knows anything about the tea ceremony, do i have everything listed that you should need, or did I forget something???

There may be actual sites but I'm always a big fan of eBay since you often get a lot of selections in one place.

Japanese Tea Items

That's a great idea actually. I'm in the process of looking for a wedding gift for my friend/supervisor and she and her husband were Japanese majors. He now works for the Japanese embassy. Ironically, neither of them are Japanese. I have a feeling that they may already have one...
Wow! That stuff is expensive! www.ami-da.com has the wisk but it's $38.00. I haven't checked the other sites but assume they will be equally expensive.

Hi,
I am a tea ceremony teacher. Yes, things are expensive. You will find everything you need at very reasonable prices at teatoys.com. These things are good student quality, designed for students of the tea ceremony. The owner of the site is a tea person and knows what he is doing which is unusual. As to the equipment needed, it depends on what one is doing. It is not necessary to learn the tea ceremony to enjoy a simple cup of matcha. Tea, whisk, and tea bowl are all that is needed for that.
A complete set for the simplest real tea ceremony would include natsume (tea container), chasen (tea whisk), chawan (tea bowl/cup), chashaku (tea measuring spoon). It is nice to have a yamamichi bon (tray), tetsubin (iron kettle for heating water), a binkaki (brazier), and a heating element for a full set for a simple tea ceremony. The host will also need a fukusa (silk cloth) for purifing things, chakin (linen cloth for drying the chawan). There are a lot of other things, but this should be all that is really needed for the simplest tea ceremony.
Teatoys sells sets for this procedure and buying a set is probably the cheapest way to go. Happy Hunting.
Hi,
Back again. Remember that it takes a lot of training to do the tea ceremony properly. A good tea bowl, whisk and tea would make a nice present and they can be used to make a cup of tea without any training.
Dear Guest,

Thank you for your information. I did end up buying a nice set for my girlfriend's wedding, along with a book about the tea ceremony. Being of Japanese decent, she really loved the gift, and displays it proudly in her home. I did buy all the items online... but it was last summer so I don't really remeber the vendors name.

It is a great gift for anyone who loves tea, history, or Japanese culture.

(hint hint, men... you still have time before Valentines day!) :)
