Lost-What is everyone thinking before the season finale?

I just love this show. I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were before the season finale tonight.
Hubby seems to think they are all in a Nut house and are drugged and none of this is really happening.
What do you about "The Others"? What is their deal?
I can't wait to see what happens tonight!!

OMG.. all my co-workers are thinking the same thing as your husband!!!

I think it is some type of an experiement, to see how long it takes to drive someone insane... like when Locke and Echo found the other hatch, with the TV camer's in it and ran the video of the Asian man talking.. he explained how this was the observation hatch and they were to watch the people who were in the hatch that had to put the code and make notes on how they reacted to always pushing the button.

That's my theory.. how long does it take to drive one insane????

About 3,000 posts, give or take. MUHahahaahaha
That's what I think too. Some kinda of psychological experiment.
Everyone on that island already has psychological issues to begin with.
But what happened to the people that are supposed to be watching the video screen?
the Polar Bear ate them or they are the "others"
We can't wait for tonights finale! We already know that the island was a place for experiments at some point. I think the Others are the people that the scientists drove insane and they killed them. What I can't figure out is how the lives of the people on the airplane were all interconnected at some point in time. There's got to be some sort of phenomenon going on that can't be explained by logic.
This should be good.
I think the Others are the scientists and maybe some of their experiments that they brainwashed to join them (as part of the experiment). Or maybe they are some leftover hippie commune that formed a colony there in the 60s and things went wrong...
I hope they aren't all in a nuthouse. Somehow I just don't like that theory. I also hope that they aren't supposed to be in pergatory--don't like that theory either.
I've never seen the show but it sounds intriguing.
I have never seen Lost, after it became so popular I really wanted to start watching it but was afraid I couldn't "get up to speed". I wish there was someplace to go to get the skinny on these shows (remember the old soap opera books you could buy, back "in the day" so you could figure out who was sleeping with who).
You can rent the 1st season on DVD at Blockbuster.. we are only in the second season right now.. and I'm sure over the summer it will be mostly re-runs.
Ginny, go to blockbuster and get the DVDs--NOW.

I hadn't seen any episodes of Lost until this winter--like in February. Our friends had gotten the Season 1 DVD set for xmas and they loaned them to us. We watched those and then our friends tivo'd all the epis from this season that that point, so we watched those. It was so hard once we were caught up because we had to actually wait (and not just hit Play) until the new episode came on.

This show is so GOOD! :D
Wow, they didn't waste any time. I didn't reslize they were on VD. I jus might hae to do that!!!!!!!
i'm thinking "how the heck has this show kept ANYONE who liked the first 10 episodes interested this long into lunacy?"
There are also plenty of TV viewing websites that have episode descriptions. You could read those to catch up...but they aren't as fun as seeing the episodes themselves.

What I think is so funny is that we are asking all of these questions and posing the possible answers...but how much information do we honestly expect to get tonight? They will answer some questions...and then pose even bigger ones  and we will be hooked for another season.

Amanda
I missed the first season. Actually, I saw a couple of episodes. This season I was drawn in. :)
Ginny, There was a special two weeks ago where it was a basic synopsis of what has happened since the beginning. Of course it left a lot of stuff out. Too bad you missed it.
So what do we think of the magnetic healing? Rose's Cancer.
Also my hubby didn't notice it, but they showed that flashback to when Hurley was in the mental institution and Libby was in there too. I had to point it out to him because she had brown hair in that scene.

I can't wait to see what happens when the button isn't pushed!!! :excited:

Very slowly they have been giving us backgrounds on everyone and answering some questions. If they didn't keep us hanging on waiting for answers would you keep watching it?
It's very frustrating, until last week I was in class 12 hours a week in the evening or studying so I missed almost all the "good" shows. Now it's time for the season finales and I have not a clue what has happend ALL SEASON  I shoulda just TEVOD the entire 6 months!! The only show I managed to keep up on was ER (go figure!!!).
If you watch closely.. in every episode, when they flash back on a particular person.. there is always someone else from the island.. like their lives touched briefly before the crash..

Every week I am sooooo frustrated by the end of the show, nothing has been answered, only more questions.... every week I say.. "I have had it, I'm not watching this anymore".....

Every Wednesday, I sitting on the couch munching on my wings and nachos watching Lost.
One of the best sites to play catch up and really look at all the relationships is wikipedia. Make sure you have hours to read it though because there's so much! I also regularly read lost-forums.com and http://www.4815162342.com/forum/ That one's set up exactly like this forum.

Every Thursday, no work gets done around our office. We rewatch the episode and go through all that's happened. I really love that this show pays so much attention to detail and that everything means something. You can watch it a few times and still keep finding things and then that stuff will come up again later. I love shows that make you think and get you engaged. I think it's definitely beyond a lot of people's attention spans and immediate need for answers.

I hate Michael and I really hope someone kills him tonight. He's gonna bring them all down. They're supposed to tell us why the plane crashed tonight which could bring a lot of new insight in. I can't wait.
Before the episode tonight I think there is another compilation episode...that could help you catch up too.

Maybe...maybe not. I think what I find most frustrating is that they sort of half answer questions, but then add on another part to the question. One step forward and two steps back...sort of. Or the more we know the more questions we have. Of course...the questions and frustrations are what make it fun

I am going to be really mad if someone dies because of his stupidity. Even if he does what they ask do you honestly think they will give him Walt? I highly doubt it!!!
I hope Michael dies! I still cannot believe he killed Libby.
Poor Hurley finally had a girl and didn't even get laid. Ana Lucia I could care less about. She was a bitch!!

DID YOU NOTICE ........... that forum has almost 30,000 registered users???????????? AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Watch TV at work???? What kind of job do you have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lol. I work in academia . You can actually watch them right on abc.com the next day online. I have dual 21" monitors so everyone crams into my office.
WHAT FUN!!!! I'll have to give that a try!!! Unemployment here I come!!!!!
Did you guys notice that both Anna & Libby were the ones who also got DUI arrests in Hawaii?

Also, did anyone see the commmercial during the show last week for the Hanso corporation. It gave phone # 1 877 HONSORG
http://www.thehansofoundation.org/ password is "breaking string".

This is supposed to be some kind of contest happening soon in which they are starting to give clues... http://www.abcnews.go.com/Entertainment ... id=1881142

Supposedly this was an unfortunate coincindence. Michelle Rodriguez agreed to do the show, but only if she could leave after a year. There is an interview with the producers on TV Guide online and they explain why those two died.

It was only Michelle Rodriguez though that had the year contract. Apparently those two were quite a bit of trouble on the set that that's why they had Libby get killed too. However, they better tell us why she was in the looney bin with Hurley. Hopefully it'll come up in his backstory.
While we're on the subject, I think this is hilarious:

Ugh. I haven't seen Lost in WEEKS and apparently I've missed everything. I guess it's a good thing I pre-ordered the DVDs, but they aren't out till October 6.

This bites!

No one say any more on this thread, LOL.
I have most of season 2. My friend bought the DVDS in Shanghai for me. I also have them in other ways... You can borrow them if you want.
I'll be right over!

Wait, I'd better get cracking on those picnic photos before there's a riot . . .
I already lent them out (coincidentally, to the person who got them for me) but I'll get them back. I'm not even sure what exactly is on the DVDs!
That's good, 'cause I've got six roses, a lilac bush, six perennials and some annuals to plant this weekend. If I had those DVDs nothing would get done!
I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say: what the !@#$?

Just kidding. I'm complaining but we have so many new things to learn now that they added so many extra questions! I'm already dying thinking that I have to wait for next season. :(

I'm also bummed that no one killed Michael.
Yes, what the &*%@??? We just sat on the couch and stared at the screen when it was over. I think WE might all be the psychological experiment :D
That was GOOD. Did anyone see the '2nd plane crash' that some people are talking about that happened supposedly after the credits rolled? I missed it...and I just watched on ABC.com and they didn't show it...

So...does anyone think Libby was Hurley's wife?
All I can comprehend at this point is... at least they don't have to push the freakin' button anymore.

Amanda
I taped it so I will have to look again.
I still don't get what the difference is between just letting the system have a failure and shutting it off. Wouldn't have been the same thing?
Do ya think Echo, Locke and Desmond are dead?
Did the magnet really bring down the plane?

Hubby seems to think everything is linked to Hurley...

I just watched the end again and all I had was the credits at the bottom with an ad for some other show running all the way though. If it's there, it was covered up.

I don't think Libby was Hurley's wife but it would make sense if her husband was one of the people that died when the dock collapsed (the one that Hurley stepped on that got him in the sanitarium). It would make sense since we know they had a boat so it would legitimately put him there.

Now I want to know more about Penelope's father. You know he definitely has something to do with this-- he's got the money and the power. Plus, Penelope somehow knew what to look for (magnetic disruption) while looking for Desmond. How in the world would she have any idea to look for that if there wasn't some sort of relationship there?

Think about how much smoother everything would've been if they killed fake Henry Gale. Or Michael for that matter. Where do you think the Others are really hiding out since the village was fake?
I thought Hurley collapsed a deck, not a dock...

Seriously...the way Henry Gale seemed to be patronizing the Others when he showed up makes you wonder if they could do anything without him (the beard removal, the saying of the real names). It seems like it all would have been over (at least the menacing Others part) if Henry Gale had been killed. He has such creepy looks!!

And what was up with that teradactyl flying in the jungle?
I thought Hurley collapsed a deck, not a dock?

I agree with Jill, I definitely think Penelopes Dad has something to do with Dharma.

I could not believe the Henry was the leader 8O

Also why were all those tubes in a pile. Isn't somebody supposed to be looking at them? I think the entire island is one big experiment and that everyone is part of it... Including those who don't think they are...

I really wish someone would have shot Michael!!!

Ha ha I was writing my post at the same time as you!
I cannot believe we wrote the same thing... lol

I thought the bird looked more like an eagle, but bigger.

Jill, When you watched it again... Did the bird say Hurley's name?
In the closed captioning the "bird" was saying Hurley....that doesn't mean it really was, though.

I love having the closed captioning because we see the way names are supposed to be and sometimes catch extra phrases that are hard to make out.

Amanda
I fell asleep on the couch right after the locked Echo out......

Also...I thought Libby's husband got sick...and died. Didn't she say something like that when talking to Desmond?

Amanda
Lol. You guys are right. It was a deck, not a dock. I thought I remembered him saying it was party on the beach or something though and I think that's why I got excited about a dock. I know there were a lot of people on it. I'll go back and watch the episode again and see if I'm even remembering the beach thing right.

Ok, I just watched the bird part again. It's not a pteradactyl but it's definitely weird looking. I watched it in slow mo and it looks like a stuffed animal or something. Really goofy and fake. It could or could not be saying "Hurley." I only hear it if I'm really looking for it. I don't know. Seems like it might have a bigger meaning than just so Michael can find out his gun has no bullets.

I liked Sawyer's line after even better:

Hurley: Did that bird just say my name?
Sawyer: Yeah (pauses thoughtfully)... Right after it crapped gold.
