OMG 2 More Babies

Got a callt his morning from My Vet. He had gotten a call from a vet about 50 miles from Abilene about 2 surviving OES puppies. The Mother had died I guess in birthing. HE said the mother was Old English but didn't know who the dad was. TL is headed to get them. It is very hard to save puppies when the they haven't gotten any colostrum from the Momma. I guess this was an out side dog and the Women found them, 5 were already dead. But, we will try to save them...... Mercy. Kaye

Kaye-
PLEASE visit Dr. Dodds website or call her. She has information on saving puppies that might help these two precious pups. She mentions...

"One important use of blood plasma is to provide a source of globulins (plasma protein antibiodies) to protect weak, fading or orphaned newborns against common infectious agents to which they are exposed. Plasma treatment (canine fresh-frozen plasma (FFP)) for orphaned puppies or for those receiving only minimal colostrum after birth should be given in the first 24-48 hours of life..."

God be with these 2 little pups. I hope they survive. Precious little things.
My Prayers are with the pups! :plead:
What a sad situation. :(
I hope everything turns out well.
The Babies are at the vets office now. I haven't seen them yet. I called and gave them the info on what Jaci sent. They said they had it already and were giving it to the Babies. They are both still alive but very small. Tl said one was spotted and the other looked like a OES but its hair instead of black is kind of a silvery color. We are going to bring them home this evening. If they are doing OK. Or take them to the Emergency Vet CLinic that is open 24 hours. Kaye
Those poor little things, I hope they survive. I know if they can get to Kaye she will work another miracle.
Please, please, please keep us updated.
Poor babies....what a tragic way to start your life. :(

Thank you, Kaye, for taking them. :)
TL is brings the Babies here. I can do what they are doing with the Babies for today and tomorrow. Then I will take them back to the Vet... I guess they were born during the night ..... Momma Rosie will take them. At least that way they will have a warm Body to lay with. If we can get them thru the next few days we'll be OK. I have pulled many sick Babies thru on goats milk, fresh egg yolks and raw honey. I said I couldn't and wouldn't do this again. But! TL has a Baby Deer she is bottle feeding and a litter of Pot Bellied Pigs she is bottle feeding. So I will take the Babies....... Never Say Never!!!!!!!! Sheepie Hugs, Kaye

Of course you will
No matter the heartache it may cause you...
you'll do the very best you can do.

Praying they'll both do well.

The Babies are resting in the heating box. I don't want to jinx them by taking pictures of them yet. I have figured this situation out!!!!!! These Babies came from a puppymill in Snyder, Tx. The Vet is getting as much info as he can about who brought them in. It wasn't the owner of the Momma Dog. Who knows if any of the story is true...... We busted a mill in Snyder about 7 years ago. The house was right next to the Wal Mart in plain sight.....Cages and pens outside........ No one paid any attention to what these people were doing. Or cared!!!!!!!! That is where I got My Little Tank {Shar Pai}. I heard whimpering and the sound was coming from a cardboard box. She was a little runt and they had put her there to die. I picked her up and put her in my pocket and brought her home with me. She thought she was a Sheepdog.. She passed last year. These people were on contract with Petstores in Dallas Ft WOrth. They sold all of the puppies { no matter what the breed} for $150.00..... I am wondering if it is the same place or people. I still have their names somewhere. I just might have to make a trip to Snyder........ Sheepie Hugs, Kaye
Poor little souls!! your a angel!! look forward to the updates :D
Just curious but from the things you've said about the new puppies, i wondered how you could know it's from a puppymill?
Good luck Kaye :!:

I have a very curious mind. I did some checking. Snyder is a pretty small town. Although there were several puppymills in that area. There is only one Sheepie in Synder. This Vet didn't know the person that brought the puppies in. One of things that happens to a person after they do rescue for awhile is. You Get A Gut Feeling!! You Don't Believe Anything Anyone Tells You. You do what you have to do to save a dog and put the human issue to the side. You have to or you will burn out. I have never had a DOG LIE TO ME....... I have never been stabbed in the back by a Dog...... Rescue changes you as a person. That is one of the bad sides to rescue. I'm not sure I answered Your Question...... Kaye
The 2 Little Babies made it thru their first night. I wanted to keep them in the heating box but Momma Rosie just wouldn't stand for that. They were whimpering and it was driving her crazy. She wanted them. So they slept with her for awhile. She is the only one that has seen them . Those Maternal Emotions have kicked in. IF they can make it the next 48 hours they probally will make it. The Babies are holding their own. One is doing better then then other. Just holding my breath. If they can make it thru tonight I will feel hopeful... Sheepie Hug, Kaye
If anyone could pull these two through... It's you!
We are still praying for them. :plead:
I am so glad that Rosie has taken to them... What a wonderful Momma! :yay:
Hi Kaye-
Dr. Dodds mentions repeating the treatment for healthy orphan newborns at 5-14 days and again at 3-4 weeks but ...

"...For sick newborns, more frequent transfusions of FFP may be necessary..."

I'm always for the underdog and so glad they're hanging in there!
How are the babies doing? Poor little things :( , I know they're in good hands.
How are the pups doing? Our thoughts and prayers are with them, and you!
