Ok...

I'm full of ideas this morning. I was trying to think of a way to do my scones and rolls ahead of time, and jut reheat them right before the party. They're all being done by scratch... do you think I could make the rolls, bake them most of the way, let them cool, freeze them, then on party day take them out of the freezer and bake them the rest of the way???

There's nothing better then freshly baked breads warm from the oven, but the fully baked and reheated rolls seem to brown too easily, and microwaving makes them soggy. Any ideas???
I freeze fresh bread all of the time...it goes moldy out here really quick otherwise.....freezer bag it, then when ready to heat, thaw a little and throw in a oven at 250 for 5 min or so.....
^^

that's what I do. I hate when bread molds before I've used it all. I also hate that carbs are evil. Fresh soft Bread is my weakness!
That's what I'll do then... I'll bake the scones and rolls this weekend then into the freezer until next Sunday!!!! Thanks guys- that helps a ton high five!
MMMMMMMMMMMMM fresh hot bread slathered in butter MMMMMMMMMM
Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

ANybody got a good scone recipe??
All breads freeze well. When frozen bread looses only one day of freshness. I keep my bread (all made from scratch) in the fridge. When I make a batch of bread - 8 to 10 loaves - one goes in the fridge, the rest goes in the freezer in plastic bread bags. When thawing, keep in in the bag until completely thawed so the bread absorbs the moisture drawn out by the freezing process.
Thanks guys! The rolls and scones are in the freezer, patiently awaiting their debut on Sunday!

Ginny- I cheated a little on the Scones- I buy the scone mixes at cub... I'm trying to remember the name... they come in very pretty colored boxes. I got the black currant and the original. They're always absolutely delicious, and very easy. I garnish mine with a little raw sugar... Yum! I figure if I'm making the lemon curd and devonshire cream by hand, I can give myself a little wiggle room on the scones Laughing
I never heard of scone mix!! I'd LOVE to find it!!!!!!!!!!
Look in the baking supplies area- it's kinda off to the side from the duncan hines stuff... more with the froo froo baking supplies. The black currant, my favorite are in a deep red fancy box... Wish I could remember the name!
Ginny, Williams Sonoma has scone mix, too...
