It's a growing trend that I hope Never goes away! :)

For every bad seller on the Internet, someone can point out a Champion breeder who sells and advertises online, so I'm not one to buy the "don't buy on the internet" when someone is looking for a dog.

I think it's a great alternative to those who don't have a certain breed near them.

There are several people who end up with so called champion dogs that were in newspapers, word of mouth, friend of a friend of a..., posting at the vet clinic, etc. Absolutely no difference, imo.
One of the BUYER BEWARES when buying a puppy has always been "don't buy from someone who accepts credit cards..because it means it's their business, and they're just doing it for money." This was 4 yrs ago when I was first looking for a dog (maltese). This was also when being capable of doing so was easier and easier (online transactions)...and when PAYPAL became the "IN" thing to do/have.

Again, so many breeders who are shown on TV have this. Some people just have access because they own a little store where making a credit card transaction is easy. There were two breeders that came on Oprah.. two breeds that are on top of my list (labradoodles, and cotons). They both accept credit cards too. So, I think each case is separate and different.
It's not the fact that you find a puppy over the internet that's the problem; the problem is that "you" have a much more difficult time in checking out a breeder's bona fides, you can't (or won't) visit the breeder, and anybody (but me  ) can make a website look all professional and nice.

The problem is people don't continue to check out the breeder past their website, and most "responsible" breeders don't want to sell their puppies to just anyone, they also want to meet the buyer, get references and check them out as well.

So it's not the mode of contact that's important, it's the type of operation. Does the site list pricing for the dogs? Does the site say something like "Get your deposit in today" or offer you a complete price with shipping? THOSE sound like businesses selling a product rather than breeders selling a quality puppy. To me.
This subject has been discussed so many times. They say educate the Public. You talk until you are Blue in the Face...They blame Puppyfind.....A Website where all kinds of breeders list their puppies. They blame the internet.. They blame everyone..... It is matter of doing Your Homework. Check that breeder out. There are ways to do that..... Ask for references that the [uppies are over 2 years old. Ask to come and visit. Even if it isn't possible. That breeder doesn't know where you are at unless you tell them. If they don't want you to come and visit??????? As for names and addresses of other people that are getting litter mates.... Ask for proof of tests that should have been done. Don't take anyones word on anything.. There are Puppy Brokers that have cute little webpages and don't even raise them. Heath Guarantee? Just ask lots of questions and if that breeder doesn't want ot anyswer your questions THEN YOU HAVE A PROBLEM.THey sure won't be there if you get a sick puppy............... That is My Canned Answer for the 150th time.............. That is What Buyer Beware Means.......... Kaye
I found a very good/nice family man that has 1 liter a year of OES. We found this man on PuppyFind. Before we decided to buy from him, he showed us pictures, kept in very good contact and seemed very responsible and honest. We met him 1/2 way from his home and bought a brother and sister. They are very healthy and active puppies. His family is very normal, wife and 2 kids, he has a very good job at the aluminum plant. He offered to fly them and he would build the crate. I was most impressed with him because he was down to earth, didn't call to make home checks from Utah, didn't change his story by the day, offered a very reasonable contract. Sometimes you just have to go with your gut feelings. I felt good about this transaction where I didn't feel good about others I have dealt with and didn't buy/adopt/rescue from them. I have 2 very loving and healthy puppies. I am glad I listened to my gut.
