Dixie is making progress!!!!

It has been a few weeks since I last posted about this brave girl...

We just came back from our bi-weekly vet visit with no new meds!!! Her weight is up a touch at a whopping 51 pounds, her skin is looking good, only one ear has yeast and she has had no new scabs or sores in two weeks.

Dixie hardly scratches more than a normal dog does, and although she still licks her feet it is not a lot and she is not chewing them.

She has really calmed down, and lays around relaxing quite a lot. As a result her food intake has dropped from 6 cups a day to 5...her choice. My vet suggests that the lower activity level could be due to the fact she is not itchy, so is calmer, plus she was spayed in December so the hormone changes are happening.

So, she is still on daily antibiotics, thyroid meds, ears drops, heavy duty vitamins, and Benedryl and prescription non-allergetic food and treats, but the skin washes and T-shirts are gone. She is no longer suffering and she is much more calm and relaxed.

Happy Days!!

Every little step forward is less work for me to do, so we are celebrating!

Next steps are to slowly wean her over to store brand non-allergetic food, and off the antibiotics. We don't want to rock the boat, so one thing at a time, and ever so slowly.
