When does a puppy need her first hair cut?

This post could go here o maybe health. I have noticed Hannah Rose seems to be too warm at night when we go to bed. She sleeps with me an changes spots frequently. Her breathing is the prepant fast breathing. The last two nights I've gotten a damp washcloth and rubbed it over her belly and ears to help cool her off. She doesn't flinch and seems to like it. The room isn't really warm. I need covers to sleep. I was wondering if she needs a puppy trim to help her be more comfortable.
Thanks ahead for your help. I am so impressed with this forum! You all are great!!
Thank.
Susan

Pip does the same thing. I've found that pointing a high powered fan in his direction helps to keep him cool and comfy, but we're used to sleeping with the fan, so the noise doesn't bother us.

I really don't wanna trim his fur yet- at 14 weeks he's just so darn cute and fluffy, I love this length.

See my post in the behavior thread about his panting, there were some good things in there. Pretty much if she wants to jump down and sleep on the floor instead of on the bed that's ok too. You have to let them get comfy, they'll fgure it out on their own.
I just decided to give Walter his first haircut this week. He is 6 months, and was doing similar panting etc when it was bedtime (and lots of other times in between).

I just trimmed him down slightly with scissors (see "here gOES nothin'" thread) to about an inch or so. I think this did help slightly with the panting.

I sleep with my window open, and even though Walter starts the night on the floor in his "bed," each morning, he makes his way up on the bed into his corner, right by the window. By the time I wake up, he usually has his head resting on the sill (and barking at birds, neighbors, etc )

I've also read that panting is a sign that they need to go to the bathroom. Obviously it's a poor indicator, but I always make sure that Walter goes out right before bed (whether he likes it or not).

Good Luck!
Oh yes the early barking......the "Im awake, so are the birds, and neighbors...so please mom wake up!" Panda does this at 5 am....sorry baby, thats still too early for mommy.......lol........
oh man...my sympathies for the 5 AM wake-up call- Walter at least waits until about 8:30 or so. :P

Just this of all the money you're saving on expensive alarm clocks!
sleep, sleep....oh I would love to sleep uninterupted for 8 hours...usually we go to bed about 10:30...Panda wakes me up about 3-4:30 am...i shuffle outta bed, let her out...go back to bed...she starts barking about 5 am...wake up(sorta) try to fall back asleep till 7:30.....and this isnt including those nights that my husband is snoring or tossing and turning...lol.....
You know, you don't have to trim her hair. If you want her in full coat, great! That is part of what an oes is :)
