A Day of Cheating

just thought I'd be mean and torture some of you.

I still have to lose a few lbs to get back to my target weight but today I treated myself to the NEW Hot Crispy Chicken sandwich at McDonalds. HELLO. DE-LISH! <chomps food w/mouth open>

And these med. fries. oh goodness... dipped in their ranch.

I'm in heaven.

Anyone else cheat or treat lately?

LOL
You are too funny...... :)

I ruin my diet every day, so I guess that's not a diet anymore.
LOL

Actually, I lost 4 lbs over the weekend during the dog shows LOL
However, I am STARVING today because I realized I pretty much forgot to eat for the last 4 days other than the butter tart I inhaled yesterday. LOL
We ordered pizza last night to celebrate Panda's win, and because I was too darn tired to cook, but I only had a few bites and was too tired to even eat. LOL
I'm very tempted to go get McDonald's now, thanks a lot. :P
I don't know how people not eat ...when they're tired. My husband and most of my friends are like that.

When I'm stressed... I eat
Angry ....eat
Bored ...I hog down
Tired and about to pass out ....still have room for food

I feel bad that I didn't get dip n dots too while I was there. Their cookies n cream one is yumzies! I thought I'd be good and pass on it.. Sigh... I wish frostypaws were for humans. That's all I have in the freezer.
Ha....diet blowing...try spending 2 weeks in Hawaii....talk about pigging out..heres the breakdown of the daily food intake

breakfast
pot of coffee
bagel with cream cheese

lunch
hogdog or cheeseburger or pizza
frenchfries
diet coke

snack on beach
maui chips
nutterbutter cookies
diet coke

cocktail hour
glass of wine
chips and dip
cheddar cheese

dinner
steak and lobster
salad bar
bread
baked potato
2 glasses of wine

dessert
icecream of some sort
(dovebar, dole cone, or a kalua shake)

I feel fat just writing this...
Oh...I'm so jealous! I have been on phase 1 of South Beach for 8 weeks now :(

I'm really getting bored, and have found myself overeating "good" foods, because I'm just not satisfied. I'm going to start phase 2 tomorrow and see if that helps.

I've lost 18 pounds! My goal (before my Key West trip) was to lose 20 pounds, so I'm pretty close. I've only lost 1 pound over the last 2 weeks, which, I suspect, is do to eating too large of portions, even if they are acceptable foods.

I went to the beauty shop Saturday, and they were talking about getting McDonald's for lunch. One gal wanted 2 fish filets and fries. No kidding, I was salavating listening to them!!!! EEEK!

On 12 days to Key West, and man oh man, am I gonna eat!!!!!!
Darcy, I see your lunch menu, but what did you have for the other meals of the day?

Oh.... that's ALL you eat in a day?
Congrats on the weightloss Debcram!! When I'm desperate and dieting, I always grab a spoonful of PB!!! I think the Southbeach is the BEST diet! The Zone diet requires too much work/preparation of meals for me to keep up with! I've got warped views on dieting though. If I BINGE on something bad ...but it's something I am not in LOVE WITH ...to me it's not binging. It's improving. :D I just see it as... me changing my tastebuds to things other than the things that make these last lbs hard to take off.

...and I'm not like Darcy. Your dinner sounds fine to me! :) When I eat a lot.. I'm talking the entire bag of chips (I even suck up the crumbs), followed by an ENTIRE pizza for dinner (which I have no problem handling and why we order two pizzas). That to me is good eating! I have no concept of "just a little." If you give it to me, I will eat it until it's all gone. oink.
HA HA...I know this will sound gross, but, here goes...

There are a few foods in this world that I CANNOT have in my home, because I will be compelled to eat them until they are gone! The top one on the list is salami!!!

I can make a candy bar last for weeks (my daughter laughs at me) but, put a salami in my house...and whammo! its gone!

And Darcy...I loved your vacation diet!!! Only, I'd swap the wine for rum runners!!!
RumRunners gives me heartburn, so do Mai tai's...lol....the salad was the only healthy thing that I ate (of course it had a lot of blue cheese dressing on it) so i guess I really didnt eat healthy at all....but it sure was fun!!!!!
Back to reality, working out, and low carbs....
I want everyoe to know that the only reason why I'm showering today is so I can go to McDonalds again today. I've got that chicken sandwich on my mind now that I've tasted it. I am upset I even have to shower b/c that means I have to wait a little while.

I'll pretend this is the weekend. ...when I usually allow myself to eat whatever (then good during the week).

:D
Why shower? There's always the drive-through and a hat...
:excited: STOP! STOP! :excited: with the McDonald's talk!!!

I can still hear my stylist talking about that %&$#^*& fish fillet sandwich with extra tarter sauce!!!

EEEK!!!! (drool)
I felt icky.

Anyways, just got back. Oh my gosh.. I am in love with this! :)

I LOVE the fish fillet too. :D
Jo, you are so mean  I'm trying to be good today.
The boys & I walked to the park, and we stopped by the store and got some ice cream. I ended up getting a Snickers ice cream bar, so I was bad today too. I blew 6 points on the thing. I should have stuck with my usual fat-free sherbert.
oooh... that puts me in the mood for a Good Humor Eclair Ice Cream Bar. MMMm..

or maybe my favorite treat ....milano cookies!!!
BUT! Was it worth it? Hmmmmm....

I'm betting yes!
It is IF I can stay good the rest of the week + weekend. Then I stayed true to what I normally do (two days off, 5 days on). we'll see!!!!!!!
hmmm Is Mrs. J in a family way again? 8O
Are you asking if I'm pregnant again? If so, Mr. J would be pissed since he's been mostly gone this month and last. (but no, i'm not)

Ya never know. :) The month I got pregnant with two of my kids, my husband was on separate leaves. For the first, He visitied home and surprised me for my birthday. He surprised me even more when he said "hey, let's try for a baby". He wasn't supposed to be able to have kids, so I said, "Okay". LOL I wasn't ready - I was only 19, we'd been married for 3 months, I was still in college, etc..

One month later, college let out for spring break, so I visited him (he was stateside for that deployment). I was exhausted and couldn't stay awake. He said "I bet you're pregnant". I told him that I wasn't. He went out and got breakfast and bought me a pregnancy test. It was positive. I think I just stared at it in disbelief for about a hour...lol I was happy, but I cried anyway, because I thought I'd disappoint my parents because I hadn't finished college yet. It worked out though. It ended up being the happiest and saddest time of my life (she passed away when she was one week old).

The second time was the day before he left to go to Turkey. That was the ONLY day I saw him, because he was working out of his guardbase and living there 3 months prior to going to Turkey. Jake was only 9 months old, so I wasn't ready for another baby. He pulled the "What if this is the last wish I ever make and you don't give it to me" line. Grrr...lol That brought us Brandon. :) It made life hard for me for a few months having essentially two babies, but I wouldn't trade my little monkey for anything in the world. He's my cause of frustration, but he's also my little ray of sunshine. :)

It was good! I still had all 35 flex points, so I'm trying not to stress over it too bad. Still - I've been following the plan exactly, so it hurt my willpower and confidence in myself, lol
I feel better.

today i had a shake for breakfast
small sandwich given to us at my meeting
and for dinner, i had halibut and veggies.

okay... the halibut was in sourcream wrapped in italian breadcrumbs, but overall.. it was better than choosing.. let's say red meat for dinner.
LOLO...L...that sounds good...I miss the fresh mahi in hawaii...they topped it with a garlic macadamia nut butter.....yum....so instead, B is on his way to pick up a large pizza with mushrooms and onions....
I've never had maui! I JUST started eating fish. Before I was a hater. It wasn't until recently that I've started baking it (which I do regularly now). I just always ask my husband first if I'm going to like something.

garlic macadamia nut butter sounds HEAVENLY and totally up my alley.

i wish mr. j liked onions. it's my fav!
Mahi mahi. It's also called "Dolphin fish", no relationship to a mammalian dolphin.

Anyway it really started to annoy Joan that I kept saying:

"Good boy Flipper! Go get tartar sauce!"
Laughed out loud on that one Ron...thats bad
Halibut is the only fish I like, but I LOVE it. LOL
I've never cooked it at home though.... always order it at certain places that do an amazing job with it.
I NEVER thought I'd cook fish, but since we're in AK (even menu has halibut everything...burgers, tacos, you name it) ...we get a monthly newsletter that has a halibut recipe in it 80% of the time. Each one has been delicious so far.

I also recently tried one other fish. It MAY have been called Tilapia. The guy who sold it to me convinced me it was good and easy to bake. I followed the recipe (upstairs in the kitchen) ...and it was DELISH! Plan on making it again next week.

I think I like fish that doesn't taste "fishy"

husband doesn't think I'd like smoked salmon AT ALL. Never even had salmon before.
He's probably right. Salmon has a more distinct flavor. It's not mild like halibut and tilapia. But, if you like white fish, grouper & flounder are good choices and usually mild. :)
We've started making a point of eating fish 2-3 times a week. With Mahi and other "hard" fishies, I like to blacken them...yum.

If you try to do it to a delicate fish (tilapia or sole) they just mush.

I don't know why, but fish is always better in a restaurant!!!
I'm 3 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight!!! This means tonight is Quiznos, cookies, and a Dove ice-cream bar!!

Why can't I get rid of my sweet tooth!!! Well, I know why... because I keep eating sweets instead of healthy snacks, but it's soooooooooo good :P
 :cheer: Good for you! That's great!! Its so hard to lose pregnacy weight.

I'm still trying to get back on track from my vacation. Monday, yes, Monday I'll start again....maybe
Starting is always the hardest/worst! It's getting through those first few days. Then it becomes easier ...at least to me.

My husband thinks I have a food sickness. He cmoes from a family that eats good portion sizes (like the whole fist full and no more). He never finishes his plate. There's always a few bites of everything left (which is also recommended when dieting... which he isn't doing... just saying).

However, when I eat... I'm told I might as well lick the casserole plate because I've devoured everything on my plate and the main casserole dish. I can't help it!!! I grew up eating until the food was gone! I love eating. After dinner, I still like talking... ABOUT HOW DELICIOUS DINNER WAS!! Mr. J says once I get older and my metabolism goes down, he'll be married to a 400lb lady.
My husband views food as fuel. He has no emotional attachments to it, which is probably a very healthy thing.

I, on the other hand, come from a large Jewish family where food was part of everything! We ate huge meals when we celebrated, when we were happy, when we mourned. All our traditions revolved around food. Food was beautiful! OY! what a beautiful kugel! OY what a beautiful smoked fish! OY! what a beautiful brisket!

Tony cant' comprehend that mind set. He doesn't understand why food is so important to me. I always try to explain, you never screw with a Jew's food! When its mealtime...its MEALTIME!

I think Italians feel the same about their food!!!

As an Italian, I can vouch for this!! Food was always a big deal in our families, too. I can't ever remember a meal that didn't have enough left over for about 10 more people!! And the way the house smells when you make spaghetti sauce - heavenly!!!!! And the desserts - to borrow a Jewish phrase - OY! I'm clamoring to get back to NYC and Little Italy for some cannolis. The BEST in the WORLD!!!

Okay, now it's 10:25 and I'm STARVING!!!!!
Chris...leftovers! Jews have prefected the leftover equation:

You should have enough leftovers to equal 1/2 of the total amount of the food that was consumed.

Ain't math fun?!

My husband is the same way and I don't get it. I'll ask what he wants for dinner, and he says "I don't care. Anything is fine". WHAT??? How can you not care? Planning the meal is as good as eating the meal! And then, like Jo, I enjoy the post-meal discussion of the meal too! My girlfriends and I are going to Vegas next month and have already discussed where we should eat and made reservations :clappurple:
Yea...Tony never cares about what's for dinner. And, he doesn't have a favorite food, that I can surprise him with! What the heck is wrong with these guys???

I spend a lot of time thinking about what to make for dinner...and fantasizing about eating it!

I wanna go to Vegas with you!!! You're gonna have a ball!
When we go to the in-laws home, his MIL always says "eat up. there's more than enough for everyone. i think i made too much."

You get to the dish, and I feel like getting two spoonfuls is me being a piggy because there's only enough for everyone to get a spoonful. I wish I was kidding too. She makes excellent food, but I'm always starving!

I told my husband that I never thought I'd marry someone who wasn't in love with food like I am. I have a passion for cooking, yet when he eats... everything is just "okay" or "good." I'm used to guys giving me the "Mmmmmmm......" "oh my gosh, this is soooooooooooooo good." This makes cooking NOT as fun when someone doesn't have a lot of emotions to it (as you mentioned).

I guess I used to be more like my husband when I was a personal trainer. I ate to survive instead of ate because where the heck have you been all my life Mr. macaroni&cheese ....mentality.
I hear you guys! Brian eats to survive, I live to eat! Planning the meal is part of the whole production!!!!

I could make hot dogs or Filet Mignon and Brian would say the same thing "Dinner was great, honey...."

What a bummer! I want that enthusiastic.."wow", but so far it hasnt happened.......thats why I cook all the really good stuff for my girlfriends....
I just don't get them. How can every meal be "ok"?

Where's the joy?

Where's the pleasure?

Where's the dessert???
Amen, Sister!

This is the funniest thing I've read in a long time! Funny, but true!!!!!! I especially love the post-mortem on meals. My mother and I do that.

And Tony is just plain wrong with his attitude.

She's not lying. Darcy actually pulls out the fancy Food Network recipes for little ol' me. :D And I do appreciate all of her efforts :clappurple:
I love :hearts: the Food Network. I watch it like a lot of folks watch PBS.

Paula...we gotta take a road trip to Arizona!!!!
:D :D :D :D Come on out.. :D :D :D :D
