teaching how to walk on leash

Our baby is 10 weeks old. We have let her walk around the house with her leash so she can get used to the feel. We have had a few good walks with her during the day. At night she does not like to walk. She will put her hind down in the middle of the street and not want to go any farther. I think partly it is all the night sounds and I really think she is afraid of the dark. We will pick her up and walk a little farther and set her down. She will walk a few steps and then sit down again. We will give a few soft pulls with the leash, but to no avail. I hesitate to pull her any harder for fear she might learn to dislike her leash.

Weezie Drake too hates to walk at night and it is getting better. He now has to run the last 1/4 of the way home. He has learned to walk a little faster at night so he can get home sooner. I found that walking Drake on a route that he was really familier with helped too. 8)

My fourth month old occasionally does the same. he'll just stop in the middle of his walk and sit down. I have found a high pitched "with me!" and he'll start back up again.

When he was younger I would bring a small tupperware bowl filled with treats out with us. When he would stop I would give the bowl a little shake and he would come to me. I would give him a little piece of treat and then move on.
