NOT THE BREAD!

Last week or so under the "Cooking" forum and hard boiled eggs I mentioned the Greek Easter bread. Yesterday was baking day and I came home with five loaves. After going back later for an evening service, I came home, let the dogs in and.............while I changed, counter surfers struck! I can't blame them, the smell is wonderful.......they were sniffing me as I came thru the gate so when they found the actual loaves. ....Eureka! I'm so grateful only one dog was in the kitchen, the rest were with me as I changed. Only one loaf lost.......it could have been a wipeout.

Wow, that was close! Imagine 5 loaves of bread devoured in seconds, crumbs everywhere! LOL
When they say dogs are opportunists, they sure are right!
Can't turn your back on them!

Well, Dixie, anyway...she's be stealing something for sure. Bosley would just lay down on the kitchen floor and wait for me to give him a crumb.

At least enough was left for you to enjoy!
Yum...homemade bread! The food of the gods! Now you really can't blame him for eating just one. :D

Glad you had some left over for you!

Marianne and the boys
No, I caught her licking the wrapper on the first, she would have gone back and eaten the rest. This is the dog that went on the green bean diet and lost so much weight. She is like me, bottomless pit, no "tummy full" feeling. If the others had been with her, especially Jack, they would have fought over every crumb or plastic wrapper. Funny because she has such short legs for a Pyr (dwarf legs full size body) that one would think counters are safe.........oh no. Jack is a long legged sheepie, if Glacier couldn't reach the bread, he could easily and then the Friday Night Fights would have begun.
Ha Ha Ha tooooo tempting to resist the smell of freshly baked bread. Did she eat the eggs in the greek bread as well?

ha ha ha at least you have a few left to feast on so you are lucky there
At least your dogs have good taste. I left some stale bread and corn tortillas on the counter. I meant to take them out to the garbage on my way out of the house. I forgot..... and they Sheepies at them.
:D Fresh bread! How can anyone resist that??

 That's one way to get rid of the garbage...
No eggs in these loaves. These are the loaves made at church to sell. Loaves made at home may or may not have the eggs.

Told friends about the Rit dye people saying not to use it on eggs and all rolled their eyes. "we've been doing it for 50 years." One lady is a pharmacist and said what I mentioned, probably the company is covering themselves since they don't have an FDA approval as a food product. Legally they can't say, "sure, no problem."

Walked into our local market coming home from church today and the Indian ladies had just delivered their bread. The Rez is about 3 blocks away........oh, that bread baked in the outdoor adobe ovens.........oh! How did I resist? No butter during Lent.....and what's warm fresh bread without fresh butter............

Finally, dogs are great garbage disposers. With 6 dogs, no one gets too much misc to upset tummy.
 If you have had my Daisy there you have'nt had the
paper left
eeeewwwwwwwww

then again, prewrapped, ready to throw away.
Ha ha thats hillarious !!!!! It wouldn't surprise me one day to hear that a sheepie has made him/herself a sandwich - I put nothing past these crafty so and so's LOL

OK, sortof...

One time many years ago, Joan and I left a loaf of Cinnamon Raisin Bread on the counter. When we came home we instantly realized out mistake.

When Jake ate any stolen goodies, he ALWAYS took them to a particular spot to eat them. One day, we came home and no dog came running to greet us -- we always knew that he had done something bad by this behavior, so CLEARLY he understood and remembered that he had done wrong. You can't tell me that dogs have a short memory or have no comprehension of consequences. Anyway...

Jake had ripped open the plastic and eaten the entire loaf of bread, except the two end pieces, which were sitting neatly together in the plastic at his spot.
Yum, Greek Easter Bread

and homemade

who can resist????? :D
  you understand! Impossible to resist.
